    It certainly has a way of weeding a lot of people out. A hobby requiring one to be a mechanic-computer technician-jet pilot really requires a unique sort of person, from my observation at least.

    • @mjodr
      @mjodr 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Those skills and more. The words you would have to string together would be weird as hell if you saw them all. Gotta add 3d printer in there at least! Oh, and video editor!

    • @RandoManFPV
      @RandoManFPV 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's been tryna give me the boot since I was introduced last year having absolutely none of the skills you mentioned nor any of the other ones I need for this hobby! 😂
      The only thing I really got going for me is the heavy gaming background that makes flying itself the easy part. Soon as the computer comes out I have to put my helmet on so everyone knows how to speak to me 😂

    • @mjodr
      @mjodr 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RandoManFPV It's hard to string ALL of the skills together to be really successful in the hobby. I try to take it slow, do my research and just work it all out. Sometimes it's frustrating that I can't fly because my wire soldering skills on the tiniest micro flight controller in the world are terrible and wires break off and I gotta wait for a smaller soldering iron tip and watch 100 videos about how to solder better...

    • @Dorff_Meister
      @Dorff_Meister 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mjodr These tiny FC's are hard to solder. I was doing some surface mount soldering a few years ago and picked up a microsope (I have an Andonstar AD407 but many others will work just as well). This made a huge difference in my ability to do the soldering. That and better solder and soldering time on practice boards. I really liked Mr. Steele's soldering tutorial here on YT.

    Hey Nate! This mini documentary was really enjoyable to watch. This is really how this hobby is, its all worth it once you are actually flying. Goggles on, drone ready, whether its a whoop or a long range quad, the excitement is always there. Nothing gets the heart racing when you are miles away with a big quad, or at a race competing with your friends, even with the smallest whoops.

    There is definitely something about FPV. When you’re in your goggles and you fly over a ridge and a view hits, or when you nail a hard trick twice in a row. Or when you see the spark of interest spread to a new mind. It makes all the frustration worth it.

  • @thirtythreeeyes8624
    @thirtythreeeyes8624 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The parts most people hate are my favorite lol. I love the flying too and that's why I got into it but, the engineering behind it is so rewarding and I spend more time designing and building then actually flying lol. Some people like doing puzzles I like designing frames or pcb's, it's almost meditative for me in the same way we get into a flow state when flying the design and build process is just a slower flow to me. I used to build a lot of indoor rc planes and if you think quads are hard try building a 10 gram plane to fly in your living room.

Skills i have learned as a by-product of being obsessed with FPV: soldering, 3d printing and being able to adjust prints, video editing+ photography/videography fundamentals, how to work on/replace PC components (for video editing), how to build my own batteries, and even how to braid as of my last build. Just keep things flying and you'll get better in no time. There's definitely a steep learning curve, just don't follow the trend of giving up when you find yourself in the pit of despair. If it takes a frankenstein mesh of two builds to stay in the air, do it. You can buy more parts later.

      also, we are grown men playing with toys... chill dude, a slightly bigger toy doesn't make you a baddass. and I know I just said it's not a toy... its a really dangerous toy, like a dirtbike or a paramotor...
