I just started restoring my brother's old 92 SE-R. He died in 2009 and it's been sitting in pieces since. Here's hoping the engine will turn over.
It will...
It will.. it be like that part from ghost buster where the ghost help fix the car wires so it starts
Hope it went well brother under rated story… both you and the car
I bought my SE-R brand new in October of 1992. I still own it today. 66K original miles right now too.
Plan on selling it ?
@@WindyCityRicky He did 😔
I am always impressed with Zach's knowledge of the cars he drives. He does his homework and that makes these videos more enjoyable.
Matt who?
Desmayalo a mamadas
The only thing I don't like about Zach is how photogenic he is. Like damn dude save some for the rest of us.
Joey Allen niszmo or nothing
That sound! My eyes are misty. I owned and modded a red '92 SE-R from new for six years, and regretted the day I sold it. The memories are still on the Web. Thanks for sharing this little blast.
F in the chat for you bud.
F
Had the saaaaaaaame sense of regret when I sold mine, too.
Have regretted that day for 17 years now. :-\
Does anywhere sell perf parts for these anymore?
Rick Zotz I'm sure it was an awesome build! F, Brotha
90s Nissan was PEAK Nissan. Once Renault bought them quality went downhill fast.
Same with Mazda.
Ok Scotty Kilmer!
Guess you haven't driven the new Maxima?
Brian watson I mean it has a shitty CVT trans on it
Facts on that..I had a 02 SE-R..no lie..it was all fine til @ about 100k it all started falling apart. Trans wouldnt shift to 1st and 3rd. Rack and pinion were shot. Burning oil about a qt a week. Suspension lower control arms have these cheap doughnut size rubber grommets where it attaches to the body. Expensive and replacements were the same quality.. I was replacing parts and others were braking.. when i was was way younger tho..we had a 1986 300zx t-top manual 5spd with the digital cluster..had about..200,000 miles. Minus the pain in the ass timing belt and adjust timing with the strobe.. Thing was a tank
the se-R was a sleeper. I had 91 in 94. the redline was 7500 which sounded great with my JWT intake, Decat pipe and Edelbrock muffler. A true frankenstein build with Eibach springs and no remembering what struts. Used to destroy the civic crowd on a regular basis. good ol' days, had the obligatory Nismo stickers for an extra 10 HP! Eventually heat wrapped the header which helped cause back then no one could afford a turbo upgrade! good times...My favourite Car to this day
my first time ever shifting a manual car was in my dads sentra se... i spun the tires shifting into second. :) full blown clutch dump at 100% throttle. my dad was low key proud.
why?because you panicked, floored it and dropped the clutch, your dad def wasn't proud you couldn't figure out how to shift into second.
How many clutches did you go through before high school graduation? haha
Me and my friend both owned 91 SE-R's. Impressive car in stock form.
Yeah, I miss mine so much. Had a 1993 SE-R but the body was so rusted through. I was a broke college student and could not afford to fix the car up...
B13 and B14 are one of my favorite cars. I owned a B14 SE (SR20) and currently own a B15 Spec-V and good LORD does the B15 fly. Despite that my heart is still in the B14 😁😁😁
All stock SR20 motors easily do 7800RPM all day!! The jim wolf ECU upgrade and advance timing and jimwolf lightweight flywheel made these cars rev so hard it really felt like a race car lol...loved my 96 SE-R....saddest day was when i sold it....new owner totaled it a day later....i might do another project car when my son gets older
In 91' the magazines listed the 1/4 mile time of the se-r faster than the 5.0 gt mustang.
@@TackJorrance don't apologize to me. I agree that the stang would be faster. But I remember the car and driver mag. It wouldn't smoke it. I ran a 15.3 at sea level in a stock ser. 14.4 with a with an sr20ve/bolt ons. Stock gt would probably be closer to 14.9-15.2 stock.
15.6 I believe
15.8. Same as an e30 325is
I have a 92 se-r and used to cook mustangs all day
Juan, I truly love your Sentra, it is a reminder that with love and effort you can make affordable sports cars special, I saw your Sentra recently in another video and I commented that to me, yours is the perfect Sentra, I stand by that
Alot of people get surprised when they here my little car does 135, for what it is, thats a pretty quick little car. Its fun, and with the right setup, its a monster in the corners
I had a stock 91 SER that I ran once at Portland International Raceway track event until the brakes went metal to metal, then drove it home to Seattle using the emergency brake to slow the car. It was that kind of fun.
Matt Farah's new diet seems to be working out, it came with a haircut too.
Genghis_Bob more like a hair add
Add a slight tan. Must have been those beach runs.
Lol
he did good
WOW I CANT BELIEVE THE TRANSFORMATION
I'm a Honda guy have been for a long time but I would have loved to have had one of these.
I owned a cherry red 1991 Nissan SER for 10 years! Loved it. I was able to maneuver it so comfortably in any situation. I always felt super cool and I was. What a great car.
Had a Nissan NX2000 (mechanically same car with a different body) back in high school when this car was new and it was a terror back in its day. It participated in Motor Trend and Road & Tracks best handling cars issue with cars like NSX, Supra, 300ZX Twin Turbo, RX7, Miata, MR2 Turbo, 911 Turbo, Corvette and although it obviously didn’t win it was an amazing showing for being FWD and $16k. Besides having great handling it was rated 0-60MPH in 6.9 seconds and I remember racing a kid in my high school who had a new at the time Mustang LX 5.0 (with an automatic transmission 🤦🏻♂️) and beating him. My cousin ended up buying a black SE-R after driving my car and it was every bit as good and also very impressive.
I had both, and BOTH were fun cars. Wish I still had them.
That Mustang owner went home, sat in the garage, and questioned everything. Then he probably bought some GT heads and headers.
Everyone slept on these cars. Damn shame.
There’s a guy down the street from me who has literally (and I do mean “literally”, not in the way everyone abuses the term) about half a dozen of those NX things. I could understand keeping one or two around for parts, but six? Seven? It’s nuts. I can’t imagine that he’s speculating on them, unless he’s hoping some show or movie will do for it what “Breaking Bad” did for the Pontiac Aztek.
And this is the first time I’m hearing about it lol
I want a SE-R so bad now
If it helps, they are hideously unsafe. Get in anything above a fender bender and you probably won't be coming out intact. They used these as cabs in Mexico until a couple years ago, many fatalities...
*Hears Nissan turn on the Sentra SE-R factories again. *
@@Shintsu2 get a roll cage and pray
Don't... we're running out of them and you were never a sentra guy to begin with
JimmyEG1 🤣🤣
Es un vehículo que tiene una mística especial. Mi papá me regaló un 1993, GA16 en el año de 1999, hoy por hoy lo conservo, le hice un swap a SR20rr en memoria a mi viejo.
La leyenda sigue.
Just got a 91 se-r 2 weeks ago. 117k and all stock I love it and got good plans for it
I had a G20 in my Teens early 20's always admired the Two door Se-r's more when they pulled up beside me .
Absolutely love when that happens nowadays as these cars are all so rare.
Back in 2002, bought a black 92 for $400. Trans popping out of 5th. Installed used trans drove it for 6 years, sold it for $500, with 220k miles.
It was sporty to drive fast but comfortable to drive long distance.
I had a 97’ 1.6 SE ran it straight pipe on real good tires at full tilt, at all times. Very loud and pretty fun on super twisties.
I remember all that car mags comparing the Sentra SE-R to the BMW 2002tii. I always wanted one of these!
I have an '02 and a 2004 SE-R specv.
The '04 came with the R-tune:
4 piston Brembo's
Ebiach stabilizer bars F&R
Nismo cam's & exhaust & suspension
Lightweight forged wheels
Nismo short shifter & cold air intake & bushings
Rockford Fosgate sound system
It's my baby, I absolutely love the thing.
That’s awesome! Loved that car! My folks owned a cottage right on the beach in Misquamicut Rhode Island. I’ll always remember watching the dude with a yellow SE-R cruising the strip bumping “big pun” back in the day, shortly before I got my license and always wanting one of those. Legendary car
This kinda gives me the same vibes as the 4A-GE swaped AE101 Corolla Matt reviewed some time ago. Awesome freaking build!
JUAN...JUAN...JUAN...your car is just plain AWESOME...function over form any day of the week...
Thank you
This was my first manual transmission car.. I loved it all the way till i blew up the motor. So much fun
I saw this car on another TH-cam page and drooled when I saw it. Awesome build on a classic Japanese car!
This was my favorite car in high school in 1993. I dreamt about the SER in woodshop class lol. Not sure why that class. Had posters of it in my room. Always talked about it. Was Totally obsessed my freshman year....
mark hausz Juan said he had bought the car from a high school wood shop teacher maybe same school
My freshman year was 1995. For me it was the eclipse / talon add Turbo. Still never owned one.
For me,the car I absolutely wanted and dreamed of was a 1999 Ford Contour svt
So buy one
I still have a black 91 se-r with 322k miles on it. Original engine and transmission that can run circles around new cars. My 2nd B13 (red 92 se-r was my first car after high school which I sold to a fellow enthusiast after riding in my black se-r at Laguna Seca HPDE in 2005) and I also owned a 2002 B15 se-r spec v which I replaced coz it just didn't have the special combination that the B13 had. I tended to hit rev limiter due to low redline of 6250rpm in B15.
Recently, a kid surprised me he knew about my car that when he saw it outside my house he left me a note as he was interested in buying it. I showed him what the car can do but told him that unfortunately it wasn't for sale. I plan to give the se-r to my boys when they are of driving age in about 8-10 years.
Edit: Btw I've done HPDE on road courses in California to include Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow, Thunderhill, big Willow Springs, and Infineon Raceway (B15) at Sears Point with my SE-Rs after getting bit by the HPDE bug as a passenger during 2002 SERCA convention event in Phoenix, AZ. I knew the car was special when I bought it but didnt know how special until the seat time.
My wife's car is a '93 SE-R that she bought new with 37 miles. Power mirrors and 5 speed. Totally stock, right at 115K miles right now. We did the 5th gear fix to the original transmission. Red, and due for a second repaint. I so want to do some work to it, but it's actually fun stock, too, even with the multiple cracks in the dashboard!
Man this makes me want one. My parents had just a regular 1992 Sentra in black when I was a kid, but for some reason I loved that car. This is coming from someone that just got an 06 GTO. I just love all kinds of cars.
The '91 SE-R was my first brand new car. I drove it for 9 years, auto-crossed it, and traded it in with 165,xxx miles on it with the original clutch... my '72 Skylark convertible was the coolest car I owned back then, but the SE-R was the most fun!
Wow really beautiful B13! I had a white one in the early 2000s and I absolutely loved that thing. SR20VEs were super expensive back then and I always thought that engine would be perfect for the SE-R. Good job not dropping the ride height too much, B13 have notoriously low suspension travel. The SR20 was such an awesome engine. I still miss mine till this day.
Stock SR20DE motor with a few boltons can give you pretty much all the power you need IMO. I had a custom 2.5" exhaust, hotshot Gen 3 header, and JWT S3 cams plus an intake and I had it dynoed with 150hp at the wheels. Brakes were the biggest limiting factor if you're chasing lap times in this car IMO.
Back when Nissan made durable, reliable vehicles...
I haz a '99 altima 5 speed with the OEM strut bar 284k mi. And still feels solid
true. *sheds a tear
Except for the rust!
You can still buy one brand new in Mexico.
@@TheBikemaster94 up until 3 years ago I had a 93 Altima 2.4 with intake, header, exhaust, pulley and tune. Was such a fun, punchy car and it had nearly 400,000 when I gave it to my younger brother who totalled it months later. Should've kept it
i enjoy the time taken after the drive to have more conversation about the history of random car stuff. always a pleasure learning about peoples' unrewarded knowledge about something they're passionate
I’ve had the opportunity to drive Juan’s SE-R at Streets of Willow. It drives like a dream. He has it spec’d out so nicely.
Forgot about these!! What an awesome example of this car , props to Juan
I remember selling these new, back in '90. The people who understood them, were comparing them to 2002 tiki's, and they were older. I think I sold one a month, for the 9 months I was there. It got so, they would just call me, if someone asked about them. Love this video.
Modified ‘91 Nissan SE-R. This was special. Thanks TH-cam algorithm for taking me back to my youth.
This was one of my favorite one takes. A car built with tasteful restraint to keep the spirit of the driving experience. Reminded me of thw 1986 GLHS in some ways. Now THAT would be a great one take car!
Good call! I had it's cousin, the Plymouth Turismo. An undercover beast. Took sharp curves easily at very high speed and never lost grip. Ever. Still one of the best handling cars I ever owned.
it's so gorgeous, i love every single bit of this beautifully well put together sentra...(and I'm a die hard toyota guy) ....the sound..all of it
I had one. Same motor with cams. And 4.44 final drive. It was so fun. Revved to 9k. Would keep up with LS powered cars
Right
I have a stock 92 SE-R with 56K miles. I bought the car new and it was the first new car I ever had. Love the car. The only thing I don't like is my rear tail light get water in them and water can get in around the spark plug boots.
You sellong the sentra?
Juan is the man! Thank you for sharing this beauty with us, Juan. Enjoy every minute in it. You absolutely deserve it!
Very cool car. The SE-R proves you don't need super high HP to have a great driving experience.
There's a lot of sentras here in Jamaica
Nissan sunny.....😂😂
Rusted out?
you mean Nissan sunny.
alot of sunny, a few sentras.
Rusted out yes
When people go "Ma turbo!", i go "but this". What a sound!
I'm 53 years old, and the only NEW car I ever bought was a black 93 Sentra SE-R. I miss that car every day.
what a gem you had
I looove these cars. Really want a clean one someday. Swapping one to RWD with 240SX running gear is also a dream of mine. 👌
802 Garage - I knew I’d find ya here 😂
@@MonkeyWrenching But of course. I see B13 I click. ;)
I owned a 92 SE-R, and later a 91 SE-R with a sr20det swap in the early 2000's when hondas were the rage. 200ish whp in the B13 s chassis is to date the most fun I've had in a car. I 've been looking for a clean one for a couple years now and they're just not out there.
Tons in MX under the tsuru name.....surely can be had cheap
Zach's smile tells everything about Juan's project. This cars shouldn't be sell once you own and upgrade them. The joy of building it and racing it should stay forever.
had a 93 ser with a 2871 Garrett turbo and s3 cams. back in the day, that car hurt ALOT of feelings with only 350hp. Man i miss that car!
I wanna know where to get this bumper… I just took over my dad’s 92 Sentra se-r with 400k miles.
I miss my b13. Was an XE and had the GA16 but I completely gutted it; not even a passenger seat was left. Felt like driving a kart on clouds.
they're called undulations on the road! very nice car!!! had one over 20 years ago and wish i still had it!!!
I had a ‘91 se-r given to me by my aunt when I was 20yo. I had so much fun In That car. Unfortunately I only had it three weeks before I crashed and totaled it. But it left a lasting impression on me, I still think about some times.
The base Sentra of that generation was in production in Mexico until two years ago. They called it the Tsuru. I live in southern Arizona, so I see them from time to time. If I had an SE-R, I might put the later Tsuru grill on it, they updated it a couple times to try to hide the fact that they were still building a car designed in the late 80s. XD
I didn’t know this until I went to Mexico for the first time back in 2017.
It made me quite happy to see all of the “old” (though downgraded, admittedly) Sentras and VWs.
Derby City Vandal Yeah, they did it with the Mk IV Jetta as well. VW used the same front ends for what they called the Jetta Classico in Mexico and the City Jetta in China. Canada got the City Jetta too, but their version was probably also built in Mexico. Have you ever seen the Smyth ute kits? Their original kit was for the Mk IV. If I built one, I’d probably give it a Mexican front end. People can probably figure out what it is if you leave the stock front end on, but with a Classico clip, you can leave them guessing. Maybe I’d try to pass it off as a Saveiro. XD
So, a rust-free, newer base platform Tsuru from which to build an SE-R retro~resto-mod. is a lower barrier and good ROI in the US? I remember some outfit making a big splash in Grassroots Motorsports magazine back in the day when they brought some adjustable suspension to this generation of Sentra....
Just2Options? Irrational: FearOrExuberance? In theory, sure, you could bring in a Tsuru built a few years ago, strip it down, and rebuild it as an SE-R clone. The problem is the legal end of it. With very few exceptions, a car has to be twenty-five years old before it can be privately imported here. The B13 was still in production for our market in 1994, so you may as well just get one from out west if you’re after a rust-free car. Importing a Tsuru might be a feasible option for Canadians, though. Their grey market rule is less strict, only fifteen years. Their winters are also much harsher than ours. A Tsuru built in 2004 is probably in better shape than even the newest Canadian-market B13. They wouldn’t even need to change the gauges like we would (well, we wouldn’t HAVE to, but it’s a good idea) because they use Metric.
Seems like a good way to get newer parts for an old car
I learned to drive stick on a 1991 Sentra SE and it was an absolute blast and a few of my friends later went on to buy SE-Rs because the SE was so much fun.
Im working on my lvl 7 for IN-N-OUT and this is one of my goals to build and ino is helping me with the amazing pay they give sr20dett for sure
Had a lot of fun in those cars from 1.8 GTS’s to NA SR20 swaps to SR20 Turbo with 360 WHP
Rich, you watching this? I’ll never forget your SE-R, and all the fun we had in it. Your SE-R, my MR2, and lots of good times.
1:09 OH HEY, That's my Silver Sentra SpecV LMFAO. My car was a star for about 5 seconds LOL.
Long live the SERs! Amazing cars. Happy to see people still beefing these things up!
Seeing this in red is so weird for me. They’re used as Taxis in Mexico and painted red lol. My grandpa used to have one when he was a taxi driver
i dont think that was the SER version....SER version was top of the line then....and the engine was amongst the best at that time...
jlopez1017d yup Tsurus
jlopez1017d Isn’t that car in Mexico also like 90 hp?!
I had the next gen SE-R spec V . Amazing car ! 2.8 liter Inline 4 180 hp , 180 foot pound . Limited slip , strut tower bar , 18 “ alloys , and GT-R styling . Only thing I didntt try like about that car was the 6 speed shifter . It felt like a video game cause it had wire linkage .
All the Nissan mod talk makes me miss my KA24DE 240sx back when I had it all the mods I wanted seemed unobtainable now I wish I had one to work on it.
I graduated from college in '91 - my choice for a car to zoom me around with my sales rep job was between an Acura Integra and this Sentra. I voted Integra due to long-term Honda reliability, and then promptly rolled her on Spaghetti Junction after 28k miles. I bought an identical new one with the insurance money and drove it to 280k. I sold it then bought an identical one with only 123k, and then proceeded to push that odo over 280k also. Fun to see this red Se-R doing its paces and sounding cherry! Occasionally you see that short-run iteration of Integras. I've only seen one of these Nissans in 10 years - Respect for maintaining this beauty!
This is a nice looking car. I don't even like front wheel drive cars but this one is intriguing.
First he sais "japanese E30" and then FWD, it has similar dimensions and looks but I need an actual E30, a RWD lightweight coupe. Nvm actually, an E30 is as expensive as E90s now, not to mention the cars with desirable specs or M3s. Still rather have a Sunny GTI than this Sentra because it would annoy me to own a car which looks like it's RWD, has the dimensions of an E30 and yet can't really drift.
Cleanest Sentra I ever seen💯
What a great build! A ‘91 Sentra SE-R was the first car I bought new. It was fun out of the box, but this nicely balanced car is just great.
I went with a VW GTI 16v instead, but the SE-R was in my short list. Still haven’t Tired of my GTI. Nothing real major done in 193k. Just cooling system, distributors, and fuel pumps mostly. I’ve done a lot of suspension work. I JUST LOVE THIS ERA, light and FUN without too much crap to break inside.
This is a really cool car. I know the SR20-DET is a proven motor for Nissan guys (I'm a Toyota guy), but the size of the coupe makes this look like a decent project car. With ~200 hp on this little car using the NA version, it has got to be a fun car in the canyons. Sucks that it's not rear wheel drive otherwise it would be a good contender vs the E30 BMWs
Love it !!
The first brand new car I bought was a 1992 SE-R , drove it and modded it for 7yrs, wish I never sold it !!!
SR20DETs were the thing back in the day but that SR20VE seems to be the ticket !!!
the exhaust sounds amazing
Loved my b13 sentra fastest car I had in highschool! Shout out to Fortune auto for always coming through with the suspension
Ok, I’ve owned a 91 and 96 SER, respectively. The former being my go to for performance. The latter being my go to for performance and looks.
I had an 88 sentry 5 speed manual back in 92-98....I got it up to 100mph+. And I kept up with a dodge Daytona turbo around town block to block.
Dope. Around 1995, I had a ‘88 Nissan Sentra B-12 which I modified Tre suspension, air-intake, exhaust and added an aftermarket performance header. I only gained about 4-5 hp. I think the stock hp was like 75 or something. I remember racing my buddy when he first got his ‘95 Corolla. He left me in the dust lmao. But I wouldn’t change those moments for anything in the world.
Im a honda guy at heart I love my integras and civic I had one of these back in the day and let me tell one of the most fun cars i have ever driven on backroads
Love this. I've had (in this order) a '98 200SX SE-R, '00 Sentra SE (basically the SE-R for that year) '94 SE-R and a '92 SE-R. The '92 I bought from a guy that had replaced the engine because the original hydro-locked and threw a rod. The replacement engine came from Japan, and no matter how hard I tried or what parts I cleaned or replaced, I could never get it to idle right. But that engine was a factory freak, would spin the tires in 2nd gear. Ran a 15.2 @ 92 mph at the local strip with an intake and a header, at 5400ft elevation. Loved that car, loved them all. Really miss my '00 SE though which had the performance package (16" wheels, rear spoiler and most importantly: LSD). Had a lot of fun in that car. I'm currently driving a '17 Elantra Sport 6MT and in a lot of ways it reminds me of the '00 SE, almost a grown up version of it. Going to be keeping it for a while.
I owned a 1992 Sentra - granted it was an XE. but I miss some parts of this body style. The visibility was amazing and it was easy to work on - it just needed more oomph.
Best thing about this car is that parts are still available for it since it was produced until 2017
Crazy right?
@@zackklapman3569 just a little bit, I'm Mexican, we had the beetle until 2003, the mk4 jetta living alongside the mk5 and mk6, the Nissan platina (that was a Renault Clio sedan) the fiesta from two gens ago sharing dealerships with the past Gen and that one with the current one, the whole lineup of AMC rebranded and reimagined by VAM etc
Glad I kept mine. I have this exact engine. Sr20ve. 😁
This car always had an E30 look to it. Nice job.
Miss my 93 so bad. Didn't get a chance to put a bluebird in it. Someone hit me and totalled it
I had one and I sold it for $800. What 😮!! I must admit-it was a crazy fun little car to drive stock with 140HP. 500HP? Can’t even imagine the rush!
I had the 1996 SE-R what a great engine and transmission but the 91-94 SE-R were the nice ones.
I had a 93 and a 97. B13 was better hands down
Great cars, built one back in the day with Jim Wolf head and cams etc, this was before the VE became available in America, was an absolute blast to drive, sure the B13 was available world wide providing mobility for the people but the SE-R and it’s sibling the Sunny GT-S was something special!
i had a 2012 se-r spec-v that I bought for a daily driver last year and ON MY WAY HOME from the dealer, a 17 yr old girl who was texting smoked the side of the car causing my airbag to deploy and pretty much destroying the frame. Had that car for a total of maybe 40 minutes. But it was a fun 40 minutes...
You can't even find these gen Sentra's anymore! Love it!!
My first car was a nissan sentra b13 nismo that came with the sr18de engine. We called that model the beast in my country. Fun times, wish i never sold it cuz they are hard to find now.
I've seen VQ 35 swapped into sentra ser. That's insane! Altima V6 with 6spd. My son has 04 spec v its fun car with minor bolt ons.
I love my 2007 v6 6 speed altima. I have bolt ons and still beat DE 350z at least lol
I have a 1993 bout brand new still works great 28 years later
My dad got a 91 ser and that's what got me into these things...i jusy bought an 06 ser last friday😂 love it
These cars are super popular in Costa Rica I saw them every where out there.
As a 2x owner of modified 510s the Sentra SE-R is the closest Nissan got to the same pleasurable light weight driving experience. I wonder if picking up a 2000 to 2016 Mexican Tsuru and swapping the engine and trans is worth it?
Nissan sentra black top sr 20 turbo all wheel drive...Attesa...a monster that prowled the streets of Trinidad in the Caribbean..competition was tough though ...turbo Lancers...mazda 323 gtx's...rx7's an so on
90’s just had high level performers all around man. Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda were in their bag in that time. This is kinda why i can’t get rid of my MR2
Bought one brand new in 91 paid $12900, twin cam 16 140hp, 5 speed LSD, sunroof, rear wings, top out about 135 mph, i redline shift it at 7500rpm all day without burning oil even after 100k when i sold it, very solid made, reliable and fun vehicle to drive, can not compared later i bought Lancer EVO and Subaru STI, but it was big bang for the bucks back then.
When I got my license in 98 I wanted either a Mk2 Gti 16v, 88-91 Crx si, or one of these. Couldn't find an Crx or Sentra in my budget but man, this thing looks like it would be a blast. I bet that screaming engine is addictive, I think it would have gotten me in more trouble than the Gti did😬.
