I think in some cases it depends how solid your legs are because if you take a delicate shoe and put it on a muscular calf, it can make your leg look like a gigantic ham hock. Lol.
Scale is definitely a factor in some thing I have discussed and other videos. Yes, for sure you want to scale The Shoe to your body and your proportions. Great point!
@@NadaManley Thanks Nada. I do appreciate your material very much and will look for the one on scale. I get particularly frustrated about footwear for some reason, I think partly my casual sense of style and partly my proportions.
I have noticed that crocs seem to be worn by hospital workers in areas where they are on their feet constantly. They seem to serve these workers well.
I cannot wear kitten heels or regular heels anymore. I need to wear block heels or wedges to stabilize my feet or my ankles turn and down I go.
The Franco Sarto shoes that I have seen are pointy and too narrow and I would have to size up so my feet would look too long for my petite frame.
Almond toe shoes flatter my feet.
I usually wear Easy Street and Clark brand shoes. Maybe they look frumpy but its what I can comfortably wear and walk in. If I smile, people don't look at my shoes. Lol.
The high school kids are wearing crocs too. No accounting for taste
There were a couple of the "frumpy" picks that I liked🤷🏾♀️🤣. Sometimes I enjoy the style challenge of wearing a grandma shoe and making it work. It's an advanced level that must people can't pull off and it's fun! There's a specific pair of loafers I bought that I'm pretty sure are orthopedics. But the leather is nice, they're so comfy to walk in and they're surprisingly delicate. I remember getting complimented by a twenty something on how cool an outfit was that I styled with them. I gave myself a huge pat on the back for looking cool AND sacrificing no comfort in my orthopedic old lady shoes🎉!
I need to be able to move naturally and feel comfortable in my shoes.
I think comfort is important and essential for everybody. We all have different things that we find comfortable so you need to pick and choose the styles that work for you. Let me know if you’re looking for anything specific.
I really appreciate when you explain why it’s not a good choice and then give us a better suggestion and explain why is better. Learning a lot with you, thank you 🥰
Crocs never appealed to me.
Me neither! Lol
I agree with you on thecap teo. Go slingback or go home. Just say no to wedges in general. Nope the Lorraine loafer is perfectly fine and fits far better on my foot than the Gucci ones. Lug sole loafers look horrendous. Sam Edelman always comes through. Same for Franco Sarto.
Thanks for the suggestion of wearing a low heeled shoe in a sling back version. It looks much better!
problem: many of the sleeker/less frumpy versions have a smaller toe box -- they look cuter but are harder to wear
I liked the lug sole loafers.
Please keep telling it like it is. I appreciate your honesty.❤
Loved this video! Your decisiveness and clarity is so helpful. I find myself repeating your mantras when I look around and shop, especially being bold enough to say "not cute" and to move on quickly!
Aww thank you so much! We have to stop those items from coming into our closet so that we don’t half to purge them later lol. I so appreciate the comment.
I love the shoes that you present as alternatives. I love comfortable shoes, but stylish as well.
Had to get rid of my clogs. Not to be worn with knee problems. And with lymphedema in my ankle don’t wear boots anymore, too tight. I like the silver shoes and loafers!
I bought 4 pair of driving loafers in the past months. 2 in suede and 2 leather. They worked great when I did not want to wear sandals.
I’ve never been a fan of wedge boots because of my 9.5 size foot…..Looks like I’m wearing a huge shoe box 😂 Same for chunky loafers.
Really enjoyed all of the specific reasons you gave for why the shoes are frumpy. Learned a lot!
Great video! I’ve been struggling with the loafer trend, trying to find a pair that are less manly looking…I just purchased the Kate spade lug sole loafer with white pearls…they seem cute in the photos
I totally get that Lynn. I struggle with them too. I have found that a sleeker style in velvet or a metallic looks more feminine and suits my style more. But if it's not for you, skip it for sure. I did that for years since they weren't my style.
I know this is bit far fetch, but have you looked into the Goth/grunge esthetic and critiqued the platform shoes/boots? Something different you may find fun to look into!
Yessss silver nice
Shoes should either 1) contribute to outfit/say something about your style, or 2) elongate.
Was any advice ever more pithy? Wow, Nada...this is why I am a subscriber.
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me. I’m glad you found it helpful!
Who doesn’t like a classic, stylish slingback?❤
I agree!! Thanks for watching ❤️
I've never liked wedge boots. They are never trending for more than a year anyway. Those Franco Sarto ones are certainly better than most. I'd prefer them with block heels though.
Wedge sandals can be cute.
If I bought loafers I wouldn't want flats, but I don't like chunky soles either. What would be a good style?
Don't mind some if the pump shoe the camel like
I have the Sam Edelman Lorraine loafer in dark brown - unworn in the box. Now I am rethinking them
I have them in black and enjoy wearing them. I'd consider getting another pair in a different color as they fit me well. Frumpy can be subjective and Nada is verrrry opinionated. The thicker-soled loafers are harder to walk in and I am prone to tripping when I wear them.
I love my Lorraine Bit loafers yes more masculine but not with right clothes. , classic worn with modern clothes. So comfortable and clean lines I like all her input but disagree onThe bit loafer. I’m not giving mine up! Have navy , black and sand color . ❤
Correct man shoe
Finding a cute shoe for those of us with wide feet is diffcult. Wouldn't mind some suggestions for those of us that require thatnfit.
❤
Just wondering if you think the Vionic Willa Wedge in black leather is frumpy?
They are not my favorite but they look much better in suede than the leather
I like this one better Mary rstyle.me/+EIxrYFKJP3XGI8hi_hn2nw
@@NadaManley Thank you I am going to try these!
@@maryjacob4335 yay! Hope you love them!
What do you think of these shoes? Let me know in the comments!
I try not to buy synthetic lined shoes, I wish the inside of the shoes was considered more. It’s more pliable and breathable.
Lots of taking
Those shoes are not frumpy wedge never goes out sorry don't mean to be objective like those shoes
Croc awful
