This video shows you how to use the recovery tools within popular Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Mint, Zorin etc for resetting a lost Linux password
Uncovered my old Thinkpad with Mint on it a year ago... ofcourse forgot the password so I watch this video. Forgot about the thinkpad and here I am again watching the same video lol Thanks!
In theory yes but you can always run any live distro and connect to the main hard drive and see what is on it. The only way to be safe is to encrypt the home folder or whole drive

I’ve tried this and I get an message “authentication token manipulation error” then “password unchanged” any advice?
Chatgpt is your friend here. Go to chatgpt and type in the error message and it gives you loads of suggestions
Thanks!
