In this Kali Linux tutorial for beginners, we delve into the intricacies of achieving complete anonymity on Kali using the powerful WHOAMI tool.
As cyber security professionals, we understand the critical importance of operational security (OpSec), when conducting penetration testing or ethical hacking. Maintaining anonymity is not just a best practice; it's a necessity to ensure unbiased assessments of security defenses without becoming a target ourselves.
The WHOAMI tool serves as our cloak of invisibility, allowing us to operate in the shadows while conducting our assessments. But before we can wield this powerful tool, we must first ensure that our Kali Linux system is up-to-date. We do this by running 'sudo apt update' followed by 'sudo apt upgrade -y' to install the latest libraries.
With our system updated, we proceed to install the WHOAMI tool from its GitHub repository. Once installed, we can explore its features, such as Anti-MITN, Log Killer, IP Changer, DNS Change, Mac Changer, Anti-Cold Boot, Timezone Changer, Hostname Changer, and Browser Anonymization. These features provide us with a comprehensive suite of tools to maintain our anonymity and cover our tracks effectively.

FYI I used this on Raspberry Pi OS on all debian VMs on my Macs and windows lap[tops in my lab here. Works great So dope. So this and UFW enabled along with Anonsurf when I need to really lock down.Thanks bro.

I'm getting both the DNS changer and MAC changer status as: Disabled

What if point 5 says "The virtual machine was detected, but No network interface was found to be suitable for changing Mac addresses". How do I enable it?😅

so after restart all status still say "ENABLED" but when I lookup my ip on firefox it shows my accurate IP and location.. if i lookup my ip on TOR of course its wrong.. did i miss something?? how come firefox still gets my ip correct??

Nice channel.kali-whoami is a very great tool.i use with Auto tor ip changer for to change ip every 20 seconds.....first i changed mac address ...after i changed ip,time zone,hostname,log killer etc.....and after i connect to Auto tor.....so they don't see the original ip but that of kali-whaomi ......i think if u use that with a wifi connection and linux on an usb.......maybe u are very anonymous
now this approach is actual opsec

for some reason it will not hide my I.P . it changes my hostname and i've exited out of browser reset computer and still showing my actual I.P. what can i do?

It didn't work for me, IP was located. Had to stop it to use Tor.

Try restarting the tool (disable, restart PC, enable). See if that solves the problem

Actually. so weird. Brave only works with Kali-whoami on my Raspberry Pi 4 compute module. But my intel Mac VM or my Dell VM with linux Brave doesnt open up. Brave now won't open on my raspberry pi 5 running kali linux. Not the end of the world just wondering if you have a trick for that
So I keep running into the problem I have the same problem with trying to use proxy Chainz I get to the point where I'm checking my IP and it still shows my IP it says my location of my ISP and the location general location of where I am because my ISP is just a few times down. It's really bugging me I don't know what I'm doing wrong or what the problem is but I've installed it and everything went exactly the way that you said it would and your video which is great by the way but I get to that IP part and it's still showing my IP what do I do
It's possible that there might be a conflict with Tor, or there could be a misconfiguration in the ProxyChains settings. Also, I would check the browser. I think the tool does not work well with some browsers. I used the default firefox.
@@GetCyber i tried with default firefox and same issue as him.. whoami says "enabled" but the website has my true public IP nonetheless.. now if i use TOR yea of course my IP is hidden but that was already like that

@@GenXwheeler I haven’t tested that. I don’t use VMware. Although according to the documentation it does not work because the tool knows it’s a VM and not a real computer.

bro its not "working" for me either, and im not on VM.. so whoami says everything is "ENABLED" but the websites are showing my accurate IP and location still.. kali is showing me on a different OS etc but the IP is more important

I did this on a virtual machine and it is lagging horribly and did not change mac address or ip address. I don't trust it at all!
I used the tool but everytime i enable it my internet slows down , its only when i stop the service i can resume the connection, why is that and is there a workaround to it .
I haven't used it, but I imagine it slows down because your traffic is being routed through the Tor network which is very slow.
