I think this generator is not simply ‘cheap,’ but actually a great value. Since I intend to use mine only when forced by a hurricane or other force of nature, I prefer to have the least expensive waste of space possible in the meantime.

I have the propane version of this... that I converted to a tri-fule when the carburetor failed... I can tell you... this generator is a keeper. I used mine on a hotdog truck and have WELL OVER 1500 HOURS on mine. The damn thing just wont die. I have replaced the carburetor, the cooling housing due to cracking, the spark plug and adjusted the valves. Any and all parts can be had by buying honda GX 200 or GX 160 parts... I bought the duel fuel 7000 they sell as well... they are part of my power arsenal... and I think very highly of them...

I was in Oklahoma at the time of the deep freeze, already had this generator in my garage. Wife was home with 4 month baby girl. They lost power and I had to guide her over the phone how to turn on the generator. She was able to get it started and get a little 1500 watt heater going pretty much non stop until the power came back on. Only stop when it ran out of gas and she refilled it. I still have it and use it every 2 months just to keep everything oiled.
Edit. I would just like to clarify, the generator was not used inside the garage, it was moved to the backyard. A 50 foot heavy duty cord was used to bring power to the door and from there a surge protector was used to add more outlet. She also had a battery powered carbon monoxide sensor near her and my baby, be safe when using generators near by

Thanks for the video! Did you end up grounding your generator to dirt or a meter on your house? Im setting mine up now since we lost power and don't know if I need the ground or not

I found it to he so helpful, generators for our hurricane season and loss of power is necessary. This generator is fantastic and does what it says creates electricity. Your other generator could be built in the same. Some people cannot afford a more expensive unit. Be positive and let the unit speak for its self. It may save you at some time in your future. The other units made by them is dual fuel.

Hi Brian. Thank you for the first run review on the Sportsman generator. I just received mine and I really appreciate your thorough video on it. I plan to pick up a few backup spark plugs and eventually switch out to Synthetic oil as well. At some point I think I'll purchase a second Sports man, just in case. Thanks again! 👍🏽

I just got the 4000 duel fuel Inverter sportsman gen. I broke mine in at the first 20 min run time n changed the oil then at 45 then at 1 1/2 hr run times. Probably way to early to change the oil but i didn't care only a few bucks wasted. Probably change it again at the 5 hr or so then at the regular intervals

I wondered if you could tell me what size the tubing frame is on that generator? There is a wheel kit that fits it, and I think it would fit my different model generator depending on the tubing size. It looks to be about 7/8" or 1" maybe???

The $250 for a generator really put into perspective how we value the tools, with thay money you can buy 2 woodpeckers tools, or a whole generator 😅. Nevertheless, you are ready for the next storm or the zombie apocalypse, which ever comes first 💪

Those are for charging a 12v battery; but be careful doing that because these generators do not regulate the power being supplied to a battery you are charging through those ports and can easily overcharge and damage your battery
