I REALLY appreciate that ZZZ let's you easily bank the extra energy from the daily coffee on top of fast dailies. Makes it easy to log in, do the dailies and bounce out on weekdays then really go hard on the grind come the weekend.
Shoot it's even better when.you realize you can burn 200 energy in 1.min. Get coffee and dip. Allows you to get mats/save about 40 energy a day. So you fan have your normal mat grind and save up for new material encounter or just big grind day.
Wait, are you saying when I use coffee while almost capped on energy the excess energy goes into the backup battery 1 for 1? Is that how it works? I always made sure to use some energy before getting the coffee, to make sure I don't overcap.
@@WannaComment2 Your normal battery stops increasing at 240, but the real cap is at 1000. You can not spend battery for about a week and still gain it from drinking coffee every day, and a third of the normal battery you would have gained if you were under 240 goes into your backup battery (max 2400)
I must confess, I've been playing since launch but I just last night caught up with the story, and miyabi was my first level 60 character. That last point is very true for me, even though the game is based around fomo, I've got a while ass life to deal with before grinding a game. So take it from me, one gamer to another, it's fine to be inefficient. Let your battery cap, don't stay up late pushing events, and remember that it's just a game.
I saw a Reddit post yesterday on someone who quit zzz after losing the 50/50. The thing is, I’ve been playing gacha for years and never had this issue bc if you are realistic and plan things out you should know the worst outcome. Dont be a gamba addict and don’t pull randomly, just enjoy the grind and don’t expect every unit 💯
See i recently came back to this game after quitting. And after playing gachas years, i never let bad luck get the best of me, so losing 50/50s wasn't a problem, but with post 1.4 zzz, i didn't really like the game that much anyway, and was thinking of quitting, and what made me actually pull the trigger was my extreme bad luck. I had lost every 50/50 since launch to the same character (mind you i wasn't playing consistently since launch) and got m2 rina, and honestly that just did it for me. I was already not enjoying the game that much, and getting the same character over and over again means i don't even have any new characters to make the experience fresher. It was just the same old team that i ran, but after 1.4, i only put this game in the 1# spot alongside hsr. Sorry for the yap session.
The thing you said about how ZZZ values your time is so true. And that's why this is the only gacha I've stuck with for longer than a couple of months. It doesn't feel like I have to login to do a bunch of chores. It actually feels like a fun game to play.
Astra yao is the last character i am pulling for in a while. Unless i get stupid luck with her…Evelyn will have to wait. I agree on #1. I got Zhu Yuans m1 and that was the last mindscape i pulled for. W engines for me seem more important because there’s drastically less options available in terms of w engines. The best part about w engines as investments is that they are usable on “any” archetype within that category for the passive. If i wanted to pull lighter in the future i can still run qingyi’s w engine for him. It’s not the “bestest evar” for him but it’s still” “good” because it has impact as a main stat.
Waifu and Bro over Meta - always true. Also I really am glad for Bardic Needle in this game, it helps you to get - at least - usable Discs so you can use them before perfecting them by grinding in the disc mines.
You pull for mindscapes for kit upgrade and power increase. I pull for mindscape because I want the M3 namecard. We are not the same. Jk pls don't pull for mindscapes unless you are dentge like me and really doing this stunt for the namecard. I am doing this as f2p being a veteran gacha player.
The point about FOMO is a big deal. As it happens, I had all of October off work last year as my wife recovered from a routine surgery. A few days into it, early morning, she was sleeping and both our kids were at school. I started the grind for all the games I was playing that have daily quests and stuff, and I realized it was taking several hours... and I hadn't gotten any farther in the actual story for them in some time, literal years even for one I'd been playing for something like a dozen years. I tallied it up - Star Trek Online, Fallout 76, Puzzle Quest 3, Azur Lane, Fate Grand Order, Pokemon Go, and the newest addition, Zenless Zone Zero. Simply way too much with a huge hit in enjoyment. So now the only two games I'm playing are ZZZ and Path of Exile 2, which came out in December and does *not* have any daily quests or grind. And this isn't even getting into how 4 of those 7 games heavily weighted things to encourage spending money every month. (ZZZ is not one of those. I do the daily poly, and the upgrade for the city fund, but that is it. WAY less pushy than, say, Azur Lane is.)
Glad you're getting to enjoy it. I also only recently got to get back into gaming with an adequate device, and I wanted to play the new games as it would be the first time I'm not years late to a live service game lol (aside from ow). Was planning to play Wuwa, ZZZ, some Warframe catchup, and anything else that's interesting, but I find myself still unable to do regular grinds and end up just playing ZZZ regularly. I love WuWa's open world but for me those usually need to be long, immersive experiences and not get-in-get-out experiences so I can't really get into it with limited time and another game. Having so much timed content really makes me less attached to these kinda games even if I love everything else about them coz it feels like buying a game where DLC is half the content surgically removed. But at least they're accessible and of good quality.

I think a point to mention about following the training plan is that there are many cases where it would be preferred to not level skills. You don't need to level any skills on Nicole for example, and many characters don't really need you to level their dodge counter or defensive assist, or with disorder focused characters, any skills at all.
The advice for pulling S-ranks that will benefit you the most is really good. I've wanted Burnice for a lot of fire+physical damage teams, but received Nekomata instead. So I pulled for Yanagi then. Even as a single member of HSOS6 in a team she can do a lot of damage, I especially like running her with Rina and Seth. But I was also having in mind that I WILL get Miyabi (which I did), and the synergy through Disorders is incredible. I also didn't pull for Lighter, because I wanted to save up for Miyabi. Although looking back, I think I might've had enough polys to get Lighter and then Yanagi, but eh, whatever. I also skipped Jane because she wasn't a waifu but rather a threat in my eyes, but I would like to pull for her on a rerun. I've invested heavily into the standard S-ranks I've got since (Nekomata and Soldier 11), they still lack some damage output but getting Lucy and Piper kitted out made a lot of difference. After my 300th standard pull I chose Lycaon because that was the only character I didn't have and I have a feeling that an ice stun agent might be helpful in the future for alternatvie Miyabi teams.
I agree on using the special training plan to help focus on character's you want to build! The custom combat simulation also helps me pre farm for upcoming characters by grinding for materials more efficiently. Like for Astra Yao I can put in some Ether Chips, support certification and w engine components all in one. I think mindscapes depend on the person, like maybe if someone really liked Harumasa they could stop at his M1 since it is already a big boost. It just comes with doing more research. The events really do help out, especially with the type chips and extra polychromes😄
I was going to skip Evelyn because everyone saying that Astra gonna be extremely good but personaly I like a character that I can play on field not just apply buffs and switch off But I changed my mind I will pull what I like🔥
To M6 an S Rank, worst case scenario would cost you 172,800 polychrome, which is not including what was spent to get the character initially. That's pretty insane 🤔
ZZZ is the only Gacha game that I've stuck with because unlike every other gatcha Ive played, I feel like I can keep up even when I can only give it an hour a day. The moment I feel like I have to pay is the moment I drop any gacha. been playing since day one as a goldfish and been able to save for who i want every time (the sole exception being Yanagi, lost the 50/50 and couldn't get enough pulls for the garantee. Have a cracked Miyabi but I prefer Yanagi's playstyle with the stance swaps.) having a game plan definitely helps with every banner/events feeding you mats with the anticipation of pulling the banner character. If you aren't going to, those materials can easily go into someone that *can* use them. (Again using Yanagi as an example, since I didnt get her my Grace is now a *very* solid shock Anomaly character)
Its so hard to not pull, got a chunk of pulls left after getting Miyabi and her W and losing a 50/50 on M1, all i want to do is keep pulling but i'm gonna just get that guaranteed Astra! Plus i need that Zhu W when it comes back and HOPEFULLY evelyn if the game is nice to me!
If you are a low spender, it's not even a question. Pull and get Miyabi. This will make things so much less miserable for you. Like they literally are giving you 140 pulls, if you screw up and didn't summon for her, you're just hopeless tbh. We aren't going to see power like that for a good long time.
It's weird cuz I didn't even use battery for drive discs and yet I have nearly all my characters with a serviceable s rank disc set, they just aren't all leveled. Meanwhile I've barely leveled up the skills appropriately despite focusing on them.
for #2 i pulled for Myiabi M2 because it gives her a huge power-spike, thankfully i won all 3 50/50s so im gonna be having fun for a while when that luck catches up to me lmao and yes i can really already notice it, and i just got her M2 today :3 tho i agree, usually not worth but i really wanted to and wont replace her in a *while* bc im basically still building my second team bc idk what to go for there yet

I also went for her M2 because I really noticed being at 5/6 fallen frosts for her so much. It's really nice to just be able to pick up that last frost easily.
"Waifu/Husbando over Meta" and "Pull based on what you have / are working on" is the best way to go about it. Sometimes the two contradict each other, like if you like a character but don't have much in terms of support for them, but if you REALLY like the character, you can build that support, likely with A-Ranks you already have. Doing your research is also quite important, especially when it comes to additional mindscapes and WEngine. Realistically, you should be treating either of them like a whole character. Example: I pulled Miyabi, heard her WEngine is really good for her; I saw the next two characters coming out, was "meh" about em, and rolled for the WEngine. I did manage to get it literally last night, but now I am not rolling on ANYTHING else, on the off-chance that one of the new characters ends up getting my interest, or to just save for whoever comes next. I made the mistake of "pulling for meta" in Genshin when Klee came out, and that was loads of regret. HSR and ZZZ I more consider what I have and if I like the character, and it's worked pretty well thus far (cept for Jing Yuan, sorry General).
This video has been super refreshing, even though I started part way into the Ellen banner (who I missed 😬). I’ve definitely been swepped up into the gacha system, trying to pull for every S rank character, and tbh I’ve been incredibly lucky (Zhu Yuan/Qingyi/Jane/Caesar/Burnice/Yanagi/Miyabi all pulled) but the urge to spend money is definitely there. The 1.4 update has given me the chance to slow down and actually save for a character or rerun I want, and focus on building my current teams for the harder content.
@@tomeetipee think about future imo its good investment i mean how many characters are we gonna get u wont even play them like i havent played qingyi and zhu yuan after 1.1 till now qingyi is a beast but i havent find the right team to use it yet(should i invest mats on harumasa to use with qingyi? But I knew how impactful her m2 is so im just too far gone at this point to not go for it. Failed the 50/50 on 77 rolls now im farming for the last pull. Ill just sit out on the next 2/3 characters because Miyabi is broken lmao
I have m2, but there’s too many good characters coming up to skip. So far, with whatever knowledge I have, my plan is Astra, then whenever the heck the Ether Anomaly character comes out. 😂
6:52 Man, is this ever relatable. I used to play FGO very sporadically pre-pandemic, but once Genshin opened the floodgates, it was 5 gachas at a time for me. Shit's hectic, especially if you miss a few story quests. Those blocks of text drove me crazy. Nowadays, it's just WuWa and ZZZ. The overall gameplay updates and QoL features for 2.0 and 1.4 are just too good right now. HSR is my current "sporadic" game, and it's slowly drifting into "I'll probably play it when things get more interesting" territory. I log into Genshin whenever there's a new archon. One more left and I'm done.
Sadly I didn't get Burnice but my account has all the characters I've wanted. Now I know not to focus on mindscapes until re-runs, but my main focus will always be having as many characters as possible. And build them all, at least the ones I really like using. I'm doing good currently but my fire agents are lacking a bit.
There are 3 characters that I lost some 50/50s on, Jane, Bernice, and Yanagi, it’s a shame, but hey, I got Miyabi. I started playing the game near the end of Zhu Yuans banner, and it was the first gacha game I played in years, so I completely forgot how it all works. I love your videos and I hope to see more in the future!
I made up a rule for me which is never pulling w engine or mindscapes of characters that are not void hunters, they will always be m0w0, void hunters are the only characters that I'll try getting their weapons and if its possible their mindscapes like I did with Miyabi.
Funny enough I started playing with lighters banner pulled s11 from free standard banner pulls so I got to pair lighter early with a good character I of course use miyabi now and only went for m2 miyabi because I had enough free pulls and luck to afford to do so. But I do agree order of operations drive disks only matter after you leveled everything else since both require a bunch of credits
Great video as always ALG and I agree with all points 💯 though there is one thing I would like to include as a certified biased Miyabi simp (M6W1). I also need to preface that I think Deadly Assault is the most optional of optional end-game modes. However the power fantasy and very real (if marginal) benifit of being able to (without terrible difficulty 'for now') three star one of three bosses solo; this freeing up two agents for the other two, is kinda really nice. In effect I only need to invest in 2 teams. For the remaining 3-6 stars.
So I am a advanced player who is in the end game, but I do not regret pulling M2 Miyabi at all. She's fantastic at mzero but oh my goodness M2 is broken. I would also say if you are feeling that itch to do pulls use your standard pulls as you get them. Use your boupons those are really, really plentiful and easy to get. They're also the only pull you can't buy
"I just want one coppy of Piper. It can't be that hard." Two Harumasa and no Pipers later, and it was, in fact, that hard. I wasn't that into Astra's character anyway. Don't let the gacha get ya, kids.
I definitely want Miyabi mindscapes, but i don't think I'll be able to get M2 without spending, so i'm gonna have to wait for her to rerun to get her to M2, and get Astra instead of M1. Voidhunters are likely to rerun more often, and astra is likely to be more useful than Miyabi mindscapes, given that she already performs just fine at M0 so, if I want to stay as a low spend player, I'm just going to have to shrug off the FOMO, and get her mindscapes later.
For most list I agree with you.... but about mindscape a BIT different.... for me, i have a bit "attention" for the m1. If its potentially long term DPS (such as acheron in HSR, or Miyabi in ZZZ) i took it. I talk only M1 because for some character, the M1 is like "earth and sky" difference... then about pulling, usually if the character is good but its not really needed , i pull at least for 10 or 30 summons ( it need REALLY HARD self control honestly saying....) Its a gambler metallity (but its basically a gambilng game though :P) , if you get it you hit jackpot, if you dont get it its investment or saving for next character pull I really needed and want.

Bro, I've been trying to get Lycaon on the 300th stable node pull, and the last 3 times I've gotten 1 pull of 10 away, I end up getting an S rank W-Engine... I got Hellfire Gear the first 2 times, and Weeping Cradle the 3rd😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Went for M1 Harumasa for the qol and then ended up getting M2, 30 pulls later while trying for a Lucy mindscape. Miyabi is M0 but she does have her W-Engine. I am content and will be skipping Astra Yao and Evelyn while I wait for a Qingyi rerun.
tbh zzz is the one hoyoverse game where you can pull for whoever you want and not be too stressed about powercreep [except for ellen fans /hj] or the meta since the game is just,, so easy it's also really versatile when it comes to team comps so even if you pull someone that you don't initially want/need, chances are down the line that you'll be able to use them anyway. I accidentally got qingyi in literally my first 10 pull on a limited banner, period, and I barely used her up until I got miyabi simply because I didn't need her on my jane comp LMAO so I do agree to be smart with who you're pulling for, but ultimately as long as you have 2-3 good supports available (qingyi, lighter, ceasar, and astra yao when she comes out) you'll probably be fine to save or pull for dps/anomaly agents as you wish
I totally agree with this video. I personally summon for who I want and try my best to build them. right now, I got Corin as my strongest DPS with Miyabi In second. My Zhu Yuan Is weak and I don't know why. I don't have her W engine but I use Marcato Desires and high crit dmg and crit rate. Recently, I've enjoyed doing the little trust stuff and events which is why I like It.
I'm a day one player and I only go for Minescape for 2 S-rank agents so far, for Yanagi because she's still my favorite agent in the game and I want her M6 (currently M3 waiting for rerun) and Miyabi because I plan to use both of them together and I could split them up into 2 team in the future if I wanted to (only M2 tho no more than this) other S-rank tho I like a lot of them like Jane, Caesar and Burnice but I have all of them at M0 only and with Astra Yao on the horizon I already plan to only get her at M0 because I rather have multiple agents at M0 than single agent at M6 so I have more variety in my gameplay. Also the Idol Angel group that's leak, I didn't like any of them so plan to skip all of them since I'm not pressuring myself to pull for every new unit.
Appreciate this vid, though I'm trying to catch up to the story largely because a lot of the new events will be centred around new characters & content, and without catching up I can't get the full value/pleasure from even just checking them out. The only way to feel less bad about FOMO is ironically to care less about everything in the game, but fortunately it is very fun either way and there are lots of cool charas and good mods
Personally, my goal IS to one day have all of it, and have it MAXED out, but I also do understand that will be a long process. But then again, that's the magic of being a gamer, is it not? 😉
I'd also recommend for f2p/low spend players is to not worry about pulling for limited w-engines. You can still clear all/most end game content once you get good team compositions going. I manage to get Yanagi's engine, which I'm somewhat regretting because I could have been sitting on enough polys to lose 2 50/50s, guarantee 2 limited while hitting hard pity on all 4 attempts. Try to resist the fomo.
For me, mindscapes aren't appealing if they're just bigger numbers. It's when they change the play style of the character. I'm looking to pick up m1 Ellen because of the QoL on her charged attacks, to make the character more fun (I skipped Miyabi, sitting on 300 pulls).
The thing with the waifu vs. meta rhetoric I always hear is I don't think they're that separate from each other. I've gotten attached to characters I see all the time because I played them for their gameplay, and nobody complaints when their waifu is also meta.
The mindscapes one is a bit of an interesting one. Depends how you want to see it. I have an M2 Miyabi in 200 pulls. With my logic Im skipping Evelyn and one more DPS. To cover the cost. I really love Miyabi and her M2 makes her more on onfielder rather than burst. So if you have the right mindset. I think Mindscapes could be good if you aware of the sacrafice. The one I will say do is supports. Look at E1 Robin. 24% damadge increase per teammate. Even with the new shiny DPS. They always want Robin. Supports have a longer shelf life. And if their Minscapes are amazing. Wouldn't hurt to get them
My only issue with some of the events lately is how a lot of them are being tied to character stories. this wouldn't be a problem....for the folks that are done with the main story. I've been slow with that cause of a hectic job schedule so I find myself in a problematic situation where I gotta do all the events I can if I wanna save good resources, but a lot of them mean I'll have to actually spoil myself on stuff in the story which the very game warns you about. Really has me in a bit of a funk cause I've been enjoying the story of ZZZ, I JUST finished the Pubsec section and already had to spoil myself on Lighter's story for the sake of unlocking the event challenges, leaving me super confused at what's going on. I really hope they'd push more events that are more disconnected from the overall story. Not that they can throw you some lore bits here or there but maybe make it so if you're still new it can still work standalone.
Same experience. Just finished Lycaon's story last month while I needed to finish Lighter's agent story at the same time. Definitely spoilery. Same thing a couple weeks before that when I had to finish Yanagi's special episode while I played through Koleda's story. I'm very slow with my story progress too. Then it's happening again now with Miyabi's quest and Harumasa's agent story, and I'm not planning to proceed with the main story anytime soon (mostly due to Chapter 5's incomplete ENG dubbing). Although, I actually prefer for ZZZ to keep making events tied to the main story. It's what makes them matter a lot.
Thanks for the upgrade advice. Now I know why characters do no damage and suck. Also I like how you interpret the "waifu over meta" because that's more fun. That being said, if Astra's playstyle is bad but she's more to buffing, I'm not playing her. That's like wasting your character slot for a buff item.
"Don't pull for mindscapes" is going to depend on how hard the game power creeps. If old characters will continue to be viable (or receive buffs), then it might be best to focus on strengthening your existing characters rather than going through the constant cycle of pulling for new characters and benching your old characters.
i quit genshin impact after playing it for years, then i chose to go for ps5 and pc games and boom, zzz came out, its a breath of fresh air, no grinding and shit, i can complete the daily within 2 minutes, the story is good and compact, no yapping and shit there is a skip button and a summary of what happened, those things make zzz a great secondary game to play along with triple a games
Am so glad I dont care for evelyn, astra, zhu, quingy, ellen or any of the idols. Knowing I can save fully for 1 jane and the reamining caesars I need for m6 gives me peace
I'm an idiot for pulling for pulling miyabi's m1 and i already had her w-engine for free, i really like using this charcter she's so fun to use so op and katana vergil aa character.
I've spent every pull as I've gotten them, and as a result have gotten very lucky with one of every character xcept Burnice and S11 who have dodged me to this day. That said though after pulling for multiple copies of Harumasa ive realized its so much more fun to get a character you really like, hence why i will not be pulling for astra and evelyn, i will be saving to go ham on the next one im die hard for.
@dawndarklight44 pretty much any 2 of the ones you mentioned are more than capable of clearing out non type advantage content too so S11 gets put away for fire content too now
Unfortunately, I let my addiction get the better of me and I pulled m1 miyabi and I do regret it since I now miss out on astra yao and now im praying for my luck to give my one more chance 🙏🙏
I've literally got to a point in this game where I don't have to grind for disc drives. I Only really do it when they have the limited 2x drops for the event. Through the Bardic needle I just convert the a rank red disk drives to s rank gold disk drives and use them in the shop. They've now added the Victoria house keeping tickets for free disc drives, so now this game is totally set! I'm able to level most characters faster then any other gacha game I've played. To generous, or should this be the bare minimum standard for gacha games here on out?
Forgot about drive disc tuners. Avg Lck Gamer , could you do an in depth bardic needle/ drive disc guide? I feel that it would be useful in helping players not to waste resources and utilize the bardic needle to it's max potential. Newer players could benefit, because they might waste resources that they can't get back.
What's your opinion on limited wengines? So far I pulled only for Miyabi's, because she's got no alternatives. But reruns are starting soon I assume, and since I managed to get every character except Jane, Caesar and Lighter, I am wondering about if I should get balls for ZY, Ellen, Burnice, etc...
I pull for the characters I like and if I really love them I get their weapons, as f2p I don't have the resources to get them their m6. Now I only have Lighter's weapon because it is a dependent weapon and I like its design and Harumasa's weapon because without its medicines he will die lol. I also like its gameplay
I'm pulling less characters and pulling copies (no weapons) and using the free weapons. When I played Genshin I was overwhelmed by the amount of characters I had and eventually stopped playing cause it felt like a chore. That's also why I like that ZZZ is not pumping out new A Ranks left and right. I prefer a more focused roaster. It's also less painful on the resources and it costs the same amount of pulls as for a new character. I get that people find a new character more appealing, but I like unlocking the whole character. I might go for their signature weapons in the future (after owning their mindscapes).
Some mindscapes are good. Like Miyabi's first and second. She's already very good at M0 but she can easily S rank endgame with an assist agent at M1 and can solo endgame at M2. That means you can send your recources elsewhere. I'm not saying they are must pulls. Just saying that mindscapes that are clise to M0 that improve your account overall can be a good investment, but mindscapes that just improve one character can be skipped unless it's your king/queen.

So, not only did you pull for m2, you were also trying to “build pity” 😂 all good, dog! I was going for m2, but I also got it in 20 pulls. (From m1, not from m0. M2 Miyabi in 20 pulls would be insane)
@ my luck until Yanagi was absolutely horrible(she was my first 50/50 win and I’ve been playing since Jane) and every S until my second and third miyabi required soft pity so I really thought I could throw a couple extra multis since any featured A would just be an extra pull

I REALLY appreciate that ZZZ let's you easily bank the extra energy from the daily coffee on top of fast dailies. Makes it easy to log in, do the dailies and bounce out on weekdays then really go hard on the grind come the weekend.
Shoot it's even better when.you realize you can burn 200 energy in 1.min. Get coffee and dip.
Allows you to get mats/save about 40 energy a day. So you fan have your normal mat grind and save up for new material encounter or just big grind day.
Wait, are you saying when I use coffee while almost capped on energy the excess energy goes into the backup battery 1 for 1? Is that how it works? I always made sure to use some energy before getting the coffee, to make sure I don't overcap.

You can not spend battery for about a week and still gain it from drinking coffee every day, and a third of the normal battery you would have gained if you were under 240 goes into your backup battery (max 2400)
I must confess, I've been playing since launch but I just last night caught up with the story, and miyabi was my first level 60 character. That last point is very true for me, even though the game is based around fomo, I've got a while ass life to deal with before grinding a game. So take it from me, one gamer to another, it's fine to be inefficient. Let your battery cap, don't stay up late pushing events, and remember that it's just a game.

The thing is, I’ve been playing gacha for years and never had this issue bc if you are realistic and plan things out you should know the worst outcome. Dont be a gamba addict and don’t pull randomly, just enjoy the grind and don’t expect every unit 💯

See i recently came back to this game after quitting. And after playing gachas years, i never let bad luck get the best of me, so losing 50/50s wasn't a problem, but with post 1.4 zzz, i didn't really like the game that much anyway, and was thinking of quitting, and what made me actually pull the trigger was my extreme bad luck. I had lost every 50/50 since launch to the same character (mind you i wasn't playing consistently since launch) and got m2 rina, and honestly that just did it for me. I was already not enjoying the game that much, and getting the same character over and over again means i don't even have any new characters to make the experience fresher. It was just the same old team that i ran, but after 1.4, i only put this game in the 1# spot alongside hsr. Sorry for the yap session.
The thing you said about how ZZZ values your time is so true. And that's why this is the only gacha I've stuck with for longer than a couple of months. It doesn't feel like I have to login to do a bunch of chores. It actually feels like a fun game to play.
Astra yao is the last character i am pulling for in a while. Unless i get stupid luck with her…Evelyn will have to wait. I agree on #1. I got Zhu Yuans m1 and that was the last mindscape i pulled for. W engines for me seem more important because there’s drastically less options available in terms of w engines. The best part about w engines as investments is that they are usable on “any” archetype within that category for the passive. If i wanted to pull lighter in the future i can still run qingyi’s w engine for him. It’s not the “bestest evar” for him but it’s still” “good” because it has impact as a main stat.

The point about FOMO is a big deal.
As it happens, I had all of October off work last year as my wife recovered from a routine surgery. A few days into it, early morning, she was sleeping and both our kids were at school.
I started the grind for all the games I was playing that have daily quests and stuff, and I realized it was taking several hours... and I hadn't gotten any farther in the actual story for them in some time, literal years even for one I'd been playing for something like a dozen years.
I tallied it up - Star Trek Online, Fallout 76, Puzzle Quest 3, Azur Lane, Fate Grand Order, Pokemon Go, and the newest addition, Zenless Zone Zero. Simply way too much with a huge hit in enjoyment.
So now the only two games I'm playing are ZZZ and Path of Exile 2, which came out in December and does *not* have any daily quests or grind.
And this isn't even getting into how 4 of those 7 games heavily weighted things to encourage spending money every month. (ZZZ is not one of those. I do the daily poly, and the upgrade for the city fund, but that is it. WAY less pushy than, say, Azur Lane is.)
Glad you're getting to enjoy it. I also only recently got to get back into gaming with an adequate device, and I wanted to play the new games as it would be the first time I'm not years late to a live service game lol (aside from ow). Was planning to play Wuwa, ZZZ, some Warframe catchup, and anything else that's interesting, but I find myself still unable to do regular grinds and end up just playing ZZZ regularly. I love WuWa's open world but for me those usually need to be long, immersive experiences and not get-in-get-out experiences so I can't really get into it with limited time and another game.
Having so much timed content really makes me less attached to these kinda games even if I love everything else about them coz it feels like buying a game where DLC is half the content surgically removed. But at least they're accessible and of good quality.

I think a point to mention about following the training plan is that there are many cases where it would be preferred to not level skills. You don't need to level any skills on Nicole for example, and many characters don't really need you to level their dodge counter or defensive assist, or with disorder focused characters, any skills at all.
The advice for pulling S-ranks that will benefit you the most is really good. I've wanted Burnice for a lot of fire+physical damage teams, but received Nekomata instead. So I pulled for Yanagi then. Even as a single member of HSOS6 in a team she can do a lot of damage, I especially like running her with Rina and Seth. But I was also having in mind that I WILL get Miyabi (which I did), and the synergy through Disorders is incredible.
I also didn't pull for Lighter, because I wanted to save up for Miyabi. Although looking back, I think I might've had enough polys to get Lighter and then Yanagi, but eh, whatever. I also skipped Jane because she wasn't a waifu but rather a threat in my eyes, but I would like to pull for her on a rerun. I've invested heavily into the standard S-ranks I've got since (Nekomata and Soldier 11), they still lack some damage output but getting Lucy and Piper kitted out made a lot of difference. After my 300th standard pull I chose Lycaon because that was the only character I didn't have and I have a feeling that an ice stun agent might be helpful in the future for alternatvie Miyabi teams.
I agree on using the special training plan to help focus on character's you want to build! The custom combat simulation also helps me pre farm for upcoming characters by grinding for materials more efficiently. Like for Astra Yao I can put in some Ether Chips, support certification and w engine components all in one. I think mindscapes depend on the person, like maybe if someone really liked Harumasa they could stop at his M1 since it is already a big boost. It just comes with doing more research. The events really do help out, especially with the type chips and extra polychromes😄

The advice is always the same with these games. The game isn't the endgame. Getting a character and building them until they're maxed out IS the game.
To M6 an S Rank, worst case scenario would cost you 172,800 polychrome, which is not including what was spent to get the character initially. That's pretty insane 🤔
ZZZ is the only Gacha game that I've stuck with because unlike every other gatcha Ive played, I feel like I can keep up even when I can only give it an hour a day. The moment I feel like I have to pay is the moment I drop any gacha. been playing since day one as a goldfish and been able to save for who i want every time (the sole exception being Yanagi, lost the 50/50 and couldn't get enough pulls for the garantee. Have a cracked Miyabi but I prefer Yanagi's playstyle with the stance swaps.)
having a game plan definitely helps with every banner/events feeding you mats with the anticipation of pulling the banner character. If you aren't going to, those materials can easily go into someone that *can* use them. (Again using Yanagi as an example, since I didnt get her my Grace is now a *very* solid shock Anomaly character)
Its so hard to not pull, got a chunk of pulls left after getting Miyabi and her W and losing a 50/50 on M1, all i want to do is keep pulling but i'm gonna just get that guaranteed Astra! Plus i need that Zhu W when it comes back and HOPEFULLY evelyn if the game is nice to me!
Saving can also be very satisfying, especially when you know you could conveniently guarantee the next character if you wanted to

If you are a low spender, it's not even a question. Pull and get Miyabi. This will make things so much less miserable for you. Like they literally are giving you 140 pulls, if you screw up and didn't summon for her, you're just hopeless tbh. We aren't going to see power like that for a good long time.

It's weird cuz I didn't even use battery for drive discs and yet I have nearly all my characters with a serviceable s rank disc set, they just aren't all leveled. Meanwhile I've barely leveled up the skills appropriately despite focusing on them.

Your videos are always a vibe, the conforting content paired with your calming voice, always a pleasure to tune in
"Waifu/Husbando over Meta" and "Pull based on what you have / are working on" is the best way to go about it. Sometimes the two contradict each other, like if you like a character but don't have much in terms of support for them, but if you REALLY like the character, you can build that support, likely with A-Ranks you already have.
Doing your research is also quite important, especially when it comes to additional mindscapes and WEngine. Realistically, you should be treating either of them like a whole character. Example: I pulled Miyabi, heard her WEngine is really good for her; I saw the next two characters coming out, was "meh" about em, and rolled for the WEngine. I did manage to get it literally last night, but now I am not rolling on ANYTHING else, on the off-chance that one of the new characters ends up getting my interest, or to just save for whoever comes next.
I made the mistake of "pulling for meta" in Genshin when Klee came out, and that was loads of regret. HSR and ZZZ I more consider what I have and if I like the character, and it's worked pretty well thus far (cept for Jing Yuan, sorry General).

This video has been super refreshing, even though I started part way into the Ellen banner (who I missed 😬).
I’ve definitely been swepped up into the gacha system, trying to pull for every S rank character, and tbh I’ve been incredibly lucky (Zhu Yuan/Qingyi/Jane/Caesar/Burnice/Yanagi/Miyabi all pulled) but the urge to spend money is definitely there.
The 1.4 update has given me the chance to slow down and actually save for a character or rerun I want, and focus on building my current teams for the harder content.
Heavy on not pulling for mindscapes 😭. Gotta think about future pull!

I used to play FGO very sporadically pre-pandemic, but once Genshin opened the floodgates, it was 5 gachas at a time for me. Shit's hectic, especially if you miss a few story quests. Those blocks of text drove me crazy.
Nowadays, it's just WuWa and ZZZ. The overall gameplay updates and QoL features for 2.0 and 1.4 are just too good right now. HSR is my current "sporadic" game, and it's slowly drifting into "I'll probably play it when things get more interesting" territory. I log into Genshin whenever there's a new archon. One more left and I'm done.
Sadly I didn't get Burnice but my account has all the characters I've wanted. Now I know not to focus on mindscapes until re-runs, but my main focus will always be having as many characters as possible. And build them all, at least the ones I really like using. I'm doing good currently but my fire agents are lacking a bit.
There are 3 characters that I lost some 50/50s on, Jane, Bernice, and Yanagi, it’s a shame, but hey, I got Miyabi. I started playing the game near the end of Zhu Yuans banner, and it was the first gacha game I played in years, so I completely forgot how it all works. I love your videos and I hope to see more in the future!
I made up a rule for me which is never pulling w engine or mindscapes of characters that are not void hunters, they will always be m0w0, void hunters are the only characters that I'll try getting their weapons and if its possible their mindscapes like I did with Miyabi.
Funny enough I started playing with lighters banner pulled s11 from free standard banner pulls so I got to pair lighter early with a good character I of course use miyabi now and only went for m2 miyabi because I had enough free pulls and luck to afford to do so. But I do agree order of operations drive disks only matter after you leveled everything else since both require a bunch of credits
Great video as always ALG and I agree with all points 💯 though there is one thing I would like to include as a certified biased Miyabi simp (M6W1). I also need to preface that I think Deadly Assault is the most optional of optional end-game modes. However the power fantasy and very real (if marginal) benifit of being able to (without terrible difficulty 'for now') three star one of three bosses solo; this freeing up two agents for the other two, is kinda really nice. In effect I only need to invest in 2 teams. For the remaining 3-6 stars.

So I am a advanced player who is in the end game, but I do not regret pulling M2 Miyabi at all. She's fantastic at mzero but oh my goodness M2 is broken. I would also say if you are feeling that itch to do pulls use your standard pulls as you get them. Use your boupons those are really, really plentiful and easy to get. They're also the only pull you can't buy

The first point contradicts itself, to get the waifus you need a character that can complete all the events and tasks in the game.
I definitely want Miyabi mindscapes, but i don't think I'll be able to get M2 without spending, so i'm gonna have to wait for her to rerun to get her to M2, and get Astra instead of M1. Voidhunters are likely to rerun more often, and astra is likely to be more useful than Miyabi mindscapes, given that she already performs just fine at M0 so, if I want to stay as a low spend player, I'm just going to have to shrug off the FOMO, and get her mindscapes later.
For most list I agree with you.... but about mindscape a BIT different.... for me, i have a bit "attention" for the m1. If its potentially long term DPS (such as acheron in HSR, or Miyabi in ZZZ) i took it. I talk only M1 because for some character, the M1 is like "earth and sky" difference... then about pulling, usually if the character is good but its not really needed , i pull at least for 10 or 30 summons ( it need REALLY HARD self control honestly saying....) Its a gambler metallity (but its basically a gambilng game though :P) , if you get it you hit jackpot, if you dont get it its investment or saving for next character pull I really needed and want.
You know, I like this game because Polychrome can be grinded.

Went for M1 Harumasa for the qol and then ended up getting M2, 30 pulls later while trying for a Lucy mindscape. Miyabi is M0 but she does have her W-Engine. I am content and will be skipping Astra Yao and Evelyn while I wait for a Qingyi rerun.
tbh zzz is the one hoyoverse game where you can pull for whoever you want and not be too stressed about powercreep [except for ellen fans /hj] or the meta since the game is just,, so easy
it's also really versatile when it comes to team comps so even if you pull someone that you don't initially want/need, chances are down the line that you'll be able to use them anyway. I accidentally got qingyi in literally my first 10 pull on a limited banner, period, and I barely used her up until I got miyabi simply because I didn't need her on my jane comp LMAO
so I do agree to be smart with who you're pulling for, but ultimately as long as you have 2-3 good supports available (qingyi, lighter, ceasar, and astra yao when she comes out) you'll probably be fine to save or pull for dps/anomaly agents as you wish
I totally agree with this video. I personally summon for who I want and try my best to build them. right now, I got Corin as my strongest DPS with Miyabi In second. My Zhu Yuan Is weak and I don't know why. I don't have her W engine but I use Marcato Desires and high crit dmg and crit rate. Recently, I've enjoyed doing the little trust stuff and events which is why I like It.
Just be paitient, have a plan on what team (s) you want to build and save for who you want. Fomo is definitely the real villain of these games.

I'm a day one player and I only go for Minescape for 2 S-rank agents so far, for Yanagi because she's still my favorite agent in the game and I want her M6 (currently M3 waiting for rerun) and Miyabi because I plan to use both of them together and I could split them up into 2 team in the future if I wanted to (only M2 tho no more than this) other S-rank tho I like a lot of them like Jane, Caesar and Burnice but I have all of them at M0 only and with Astra Yao on the horizon I already plan to only get her at M0 because I rather have multiple agents at M0 than single agent at M6 so I have more variety in my gameplay.
Also the Idol Angel group that's leak, I didn't like any of them so plan to skip all of them since I'm not pressuring myself to pull for every new unit.

Appreciate this vid, though I'm trying to catch up to the story largely because a lot of the new events will be centred around new characters & content, and without catching up I can't get the full value/pleasure from even just checking them out. The only way to feel less bad about FOMO is ironically to care less about everything in the game, but fortunately it is very fun either way and there are lots of cool charas and good mods
Personally, my goal IS to one day have all of it, and have it MAXED out, but I also do understand that will be a long process. But then again, that's the magic of being a gamer, is it not? 😉
I was trying to get Seth mindscapes but ended up getting 2 Harumasa ones imstead (and a Rina). I don't need a 4th functioning team.
I'd also recommend for f2p/low spend players is to not worry about pulling for limited w-engines. You can still clear all/most end game content once you get good team compositions going. I manage to get Yanagi's engine, which I'm somewhat regretting because I could have been sitting on enough polys to lose 2 50/50s, guarantee 2 limited while hitting hard pity on all 4 attempts. Try to resist the fomo.
For me, mindscapes aren't appealing if they're just bigger numbers. It's when they change the play style of the character. I'm looking to pick up m1 Ellen because of the QoL on her charged attacks, to make the character more fun (I skipped Miyabi, sitting on 300 pulls).

The thing with the waifu vs. meta rhetoric I always hear is I don't think they're that separate from each other.
I've gotten attached to characters I see all the time because I played them for their gameplay, and nobody complaints when their waifu is also meta.
The mindscapes one is a bit of an interesting one. Depends how you want to see it.
I have an M2 Miyabi in 200 pulls. With my logic Im skipping Evelyn and one more DPS. To cover the cost. I really love Miyabi and her M2 makes her more on onfielder rather than burst.
So if you have the right mindset. I think Mindscapes could be good if you aware of the sacrafice.
The one I will say do is supports. Look at E1 Robin. 24% damadge increase per teammate. Even with the new shiny DPS. They always want Robin. Supports have a longer shelf life. And if their Minscapes are amazing. Wouldn't hurt to get them
My only issue with some of the events lately is how a lot of them are being tied to character stories. this wouldn't be a problem....for the folks that are done with the main story.
I've been slow with that cause of a hectic job schedule so I find myself in a problematic situation where I gotta do all the events I can if I wanna save good resources, but a lot of them mean I'll have to actually spoil myself on stuff in the story which the very game warns you about.
Really has me in a bit of a funk cause I've been enjoying the story of ZZZ, I JUST finished the Pubsec section and already had to spoil myself on Lighter's story for the sake of unlocking the event challenges, leaving me super confused at what's going on.
I really hope they'd push more events that are more disconnected from the overall story. Not that they can throw you some lore bits here or there but maybe make it so if you're still new it can still work standalone.
Same experience. Just finished Lycaon's story last month while I needed to finish Lighter's agent story at the same time. Definitely spoilery. Same thing a couple weeks before that when I had to finish Yanagi's special episode while I played through Koleda's story. I'm very slow with my story progress too. Then it's happening again now with Miyabi's quest and Harumasa's agent story, and I'm not planning to proceed with the main story anytime soon (mostly due to Chapter 5's incomplete ENG dubbing).
Although, I actually prefer for ZZZ to keep making events tied to the main story. It's what makes them matter a lot.

That being said, if Astra's playstyle is bad but she's more to buffing, I'm not playing her.
That's like wasting your character slot for a buff item.
"Don't pull for mindscapes" is going to depend on how hard the game power creeps. If old characters will continue to be viable (or receive buffs), then it might be best to focus on strengthening your existing characters rather than going through the constant cycle of pulling for new characters and benching your old characters.

i quit genshin impact after playing it for years, then i chose to go for ps5 and pc games and boom, zzz came out, its a breath of fresh air, no grinding and shit, i can complete the daily within 2 minutes, the story is good and compact, no yapping and shit there is a skip button and a summary of what happened, those things make zzz a great secondary game to play along with triple a games

Am so glad I dont care for evelyn, astra, zhu, quingy, ellen or any of the idols. Knowing I can save fully for 1 jane and the reamining caesars I need for m6 gives me peace

I'm an idiot for pulling for pulling miyabi's m1 and i already had her w-engine for free, i really like using this charcter she's so fun to use so op and katana vergil aa character.
I've spent every pull as I've gotten them, and as a result have gotten very lucky with one of every character xcept Burnice and S11 who have dodged me to this day. That said though after pulling for multiple copies of Harumasa ive realized its so much more fun to get a character you really like, hence why i will not be pulling for astra and evelyn, i will be saving to go ham on the next one im die hard for.
S11 got me through awhile with Caesar but she is getting ultra power crept by my post burnice disorder teams with Rat, Burnice, Yanagi and Miyabi
@dawndarklight44 pretty much any 2 of the ones you mentioned are more than capable of clearing out non type advantage content too so S11 gets put away for fire content too now
Unfortunately, I let my addiction get the better of me and I pulled m1 miyabi and I do regret it since I now miss out on astra yao and now im praying for my luck to give my one more chance 🙏🙏
When is the special training plan supposed to be unlocked for a new player?
Question, What’s more worth it, getting a characters Mindscape, Just M1 for my Miyabi, or getting their signature W-Engine?
I've literally got to a point in this game where I don't have to grind for disc drives.
I Only really do it when they have the limited 2x drops for the event.
Through the Bardic needle I just convert the a rank red disk drives to s rank gold disk drives and use them in the shop.
They've now added the Victoria house keeping tickets for free disc drives, so now this game is totally set!
I'm able to level most characters faster then any other gacha game I've played.
To generous, or should this be the bare minimum standard for gacha games here on out?

I feel that it would be useful in helping players not to waste resources and utilize the bardic needle to it's max potential.
Newer players could benefit, because they might waste resources that they can't get back.

What's your opinion on limited wengines? So far I pulled only for Miyabi's, because she's got no alternatives. But reruns are starting soon I assume, and since I managed to get every character except Jane, Caesar and Lighter, I am wondering about if I should get balls for ZY, Ellen, Burnice, etc...
I pull for the characters I like and if I really love them I get their weapons, as f2p I don't have the resources to get them their m6. Now I only have Lighter's weapon because it is a dependent weapon and I like its design and Harumasa's weapon because without its medicines he will die lol. I also like its gameplay
I'm pulling less characters and pulling copies (no weapons) and using the free weapons. When I played Genshin I was overwhelmed by the amount of characters I had and eventually stopped playing cause it felt like a chore. That's also why I like that ZZZ is not pumping out new A Ranks left and right. I prefer a more focused roaster. It's also less painful on the resources and it costs the same amount of pulls as for a new character. I get that people find a new character more appealing, but I like unlocking the whole character. I might go for their signature weapons in the future (after owning their mindscapes).

For me I just pull characters + weapons lol. But yeah I understand trying to pull the "most" amount of characters will feel like too much overtime

Some mindscapes are good. Like Miyabi's first and second. She's already very good at M0 but she can easily S rank endgame with an assist agent at M1 and can solo endgame at M2. That means you can send your recources elsewhere.
I'm not saying they are must pulls. Just saying that mindscapes that are clise to M0 that improve your account overall can be a good investment, but mindscapes that just improve one character can be skipped unless it's your king/queen.
7:04 I tried to play both Genshin and ZZZ, and I couldn't. Tho, to be honest, the fact that my Genshin account needs life support is probably part of the reason, too
NGL I have no real fire team sol 11 and Lucy ( I had to skip lighter and burnice for Yanagi and Miyabi) so I don't really have a solid comp...so I really need Evelyn

Me staring at my m2 miyabi during the don’t go for mindscapes segment 😅(I had unreal luck though I was just trying to build pity for Astra but the game gave a super early S about 20 pulls in followed by a zero pity S and I won all 3 50/50’s)
So, not only did you pull for m2, you were also trying to “build pity” 😂 all good, dog! I was going for m2, but I also got it in 20 pulls. (From m1, not from m0. M2 Miyabi in 20 pulls would be insane)
@ my luck until Yanagi was absolutely horrible(she was my first 50/50 win and I’ve been playing since Jane) and every S until my second and third miyabi required soft pity so I really thought I could throw a couple extra multis since any featured A would just be an extra pull
I tried to pull for miyabi's ball. now I have no miyabi ball and is screwed for the 2 upcoming banners
The pity is saved so you can get the next ball easily
