I’ve always been a khajiit cause I first played Skyrim when I was like 9 so when I saw the cat I was like oh my god cat Edit: for clarification, I am not a furry. FOR THE LAST TIME I AM NOT A FURRY I JUST LIKE BEING PART OF THE THIEVE'S GUILD
Let's be honest, Kharjo and J'zargo also helped with choosing the khajiit. Other than that, they really seem like they can go anywhere without it being odd. Thieves guild? Sure, cats are sneaky. Companions? Yeah, that kitty has claws. Dark Brotherhood? Yeah, a cat could probably get away with murder. College of Winterhold? Sure, I mean J'zargo is here. Dawnguard? Fine, they're part of the creatures threatened by them. Volkihar clan? Of course, then they'll be twice as much a creature of the night. They'd probably do anything they want, because they're cats.
It's actually a good thing. I was kinda disappointed to find out how so many dunmers there are in Morrowind, only after I created a Dunmer after being stuck being Dunmer and Wood Elf and thinking Dark Elf would be more unique. It's not lol. That's it, my next save is definetly gonna be a Redguard, (not just because I desperately wanna be different) but especially after seeing their sprint advantage in Morrowind, sounds like a fun gameplay.
I always thought the orcs had a really good racial ability being able to deal double damage while receiving half damage for 60 seconds. Never used one but, definitely seems strong.
Honestly my first play through I knew nothing about the lore and just read they could breathe underwater and was like, "Hey I bet I could explore with this" then proceeded to make an abomination of a human dragon hybrid in an attempt to create a dnd style dragonborn (although I didn't know about dnd at the time - it's my best comparison). Now I find myself playing as a Argonian coming back to the lands their ancestors once occupied to flee from the dunmer.
@@Laimee This is a cannon in-game adult innuendo. If you're over 18, read the book "The Lusty Argonian Maid" in Skyrim. A few dungeons should have them. (There are 2 volumes).
Just to save you all time: Most popular - Least popular 1) Nord 2) Khajiit 3) Dunmer 4) Bretons 5) Bosmer 6) Argonians 7) Imperials 8) Altmer 9) Orsimer 10) Redguard
This was my first Elder scrolls game, and I was going through the races and had no idea what any of them meant. I saw Imperials get more gold and I was like "I like more gold", so I made an imperial. Ended up being a two-handed warrior badass. Then I made a stealthy nord. You cant tell me what to do
I'm extremely surprised about the Orsimer popularity. The berzerk rage ability is so insanely broken from start to finish that I thought they would be way higher on the list. And even if you don't like the green skin and the underbite with giant tusks they do look pretty fitting for such a brute race.
Nazeem? really? Because he bragged about his power with money. What about the countless racist shit the Nords said to every other race in the game? People still played as them though. So it's bad to brag about money but it's okay to be racist? Gotcha.
Balance Cartier to be honest man there are my least favorite race of all time they massacred a raceof snow elves for a false land they called their own and constantly denie other race saying that skyrim is for the nords
It's the only one relevant after level like... ten, it allows you to 12x sneak crit, you take half damage so even mages can use it well.... The Orsimer are numerically the best race in the game. People are just stupid.
They’re honorary mer imo. They’re a thousand times better than the Nords. I don’t mind the imperials either tbh. The redguards are also ridiculous with their rejection of magic and hatred for people who deal with the undead.
I remember for my first character I made a Redguard and spent a good while on his design. I then immediately stumbled upon Krosis and used his mask for the rest of the game. About a year and change later, after I beat Dragonborn I decided to take off the mask for some reason and going "AH, A BLACK GUY!" No but really for some reason I thought my main character was a Dark Elf for the longest time.
I find the imperial a perfect "gentleman thief" starter. I can calm anyone who catches me stealing and I get more loot out of what I find. Few points into sneak and illusion and i almost never have to draw weapons. As for starting stats, well that is why trainers and grinding exist. Makes a decent bard too.
Interestingly, Imperials can be quite a few number of classes from Morrowind. They are perfect for Battlemages, Crusaders, Healers, Rogues, and Agents. They can all integrated within the Imperial Legion.
There is actually a "canon" race actually. In each game, from the lore point of view, even you having the Liberty to be from any race, doing anything you want fighting in any way,and be who you want, they need to establis an canon version to proceed with ge History from the game universe on a way it makes senses. In all elder Scrolls games, from the lore point of view, the main character(From all games)only has made the main quests(only The Alduin and the civil war quest lines on Skyrim, for example, meaning that they don't make anything else, and doesn't joined any group like the companions canonically)They also have a canon Race. The Dragonborn of Skyrim is a Nord. The Hero of Kvatch from oblivion is an Imperial. The Nerevarine from Morrowind is an GreyElf.
@@ジョエシタジョンイ actually, there's evidence in a lot of other games the Neravene (This is the day I destroy spelling forever) is an argonian. Wow, this is painful. I use High Elves for mages, Orcs for heavy-armour two handed characters, and Redguards for one handed heavy armour builds. Literally all of my favourite races are the most hated :(
Pelinal Whitestrake I understand why orcs should be higher but imperials are one of my absolute least favorite, useless abilities and one of the least cool looking races

Morrowind: Imperial Oblivion: Imperial Skyrim: Imperial ESO 8 character roster: all Imperial ... this isn't really a comment, it's more of a cry for help.
I have, but I still prefer most of the other options. No doubt that the Orcs are a strong option for powergaming, roleplaying is often more important. I'm more of a breton guy, both because I like the bretons themselves and because they work well as a standin for half-elves, as there is at least one half-imperial, half-dunmer that is compared to a breton.
@@TheTdroid I like Breton the best because of their race abilities. Whether you want to be a warrior or a mage the magic resistance and dragonskin are useful. Especially in skyrim where it is trivial to level up your skills early on. One of the reasons I liked orcs in oblivion was because they started with the highest armorer build and that was a big deal.
Just say the name of a race, no matter real or fictional and you are a racist, right? This is how we're crafting new taboos in XXI, with the help of Adam Daly.
These three are different nationalities, but not races. I can't get used to the definition made by Bethesda. Can you call Scandinavians, Italians and, say, English people different races? Nonsense. I'd even say nords, imperials, bretons, and redguards form one race.
Guess i'm one of the few that has always played as an Imperial just for the fact that i'm italian myself and imperial armors are an obvious copy of those.
@@shu830 No. Italians came out of the Roman Empire, but the Romans were NOT Italians. I believe they were predominately Etruscan? Also, they were probably werewolves. Yeah Breton are my top Meta pick with that ability to get to the 85% magic resist cap with just passives, with the right perks and gear they are immoral.
I'm genuinely surprised the lack of love for Orc. Orcs have Berserker Rage: For 60 seconds takes half damage, while dealing double damage. That fits better as a barbarian or Viking Berserker build than Nord. I would've guess Orc as #1.

My modded Altmer looks more like a human with elf ears. I created a backstory of a scandalous intermingling between man and mer somewhere up the family line, that was kept hidden until it re-surfaced in my character's appearance. He was then promptly 'kicked out' by his family when he came of age and couldn't be used/hidden anymore, and is now hiding in Skyrim from the Thalmor's ethnic 'cleansing.' This has resulted in some... side effects, where he will go into an uncontrollable trance whenever a Thalmor is within sight. He is alerted at 50 meters, and must attack and try to kill the Thalmor if he comes within 10 feet of them. He always wears a facecover and elven helmet, only exposing a pair of ruthless and hungry eyes. He's disguised himself as a wandering elf bard/one-handed warrior in Skyrim, but has secretly made a pact with the volkihar vampire clan to shelter him, and when able to, fights with illusion/sacrosanct blood destruction magic. The dude switches between lawful evil (vampire) and chaotic neutral (general attitude) from time to time. Point is, I started a high elf, I end a high elf.
Altmer/High Elves = Thalmor And fuck those Thalmor. Although I have made a Highelf specifically as a chaotic good type character. Fought for the Empire, slayed Partho, killed off the Dark Brotherhood, made the Nords bow to her rule, screwed over all the Daedra. You know.. no fun, all business and zeal.
Honestly can’t believe it either lol I mean we are talking you literally double your damage and half your health lol and have basically endless magika for 60 seconds lol
Conjuration is by far my favorite skill in the game so for me it's easily the Bretons. Although my first ever play through was as an Argonian so I've got a special place in my heart for the lizard folk. There might not be a lot of underwater exploration, but when you're a new player and foolishly try to take on a challenge you were not prepared for, it comes in real useful when you can just run into a lake and hide till they go away.
Same, I rarely play Two-Handed playthroughs and if I do I always pick Orsimer, they're much more interesting IMO and early access to all the strongholds is a nice bonus.
Surprised my favorite race is so low but yeah on the meta Imperials got screwed, a pointless passive and a meh CC "daily power" but to be fair, the Imperial lore is a bit more subtle, Nordic, Aldmeri, and Akaviri cultures have all had their hand in it but on the surface you just see a bunch of Romans. (oblivion didn't help much either)
Yep, wish they had the Star of the West ability like in the last two, a stamina drain ability would had have some use. Lucky the races don't matter too much overall, i mean the game balance is easily broken.

Yeah but the dark brotherhood could only give them vases hanging from high places as targets.

Hazardeur your wrong in that belief
Honestly my first play through I knew nothing about the lore and just read they could breathe underwater and was like, "Hey I bet I could explore with this" then proceeded to make an abomination of a human dragon hybrid in an attempt to create a dnd style dragonborn (although I didn't know about dnd at the time - it's my best comparison). Now I find myself playing as a Argonian coming back to the lands their ancestors once occupied to flee from the dunmer.
My sister made an Argonian and asked me to name her.

I'm extremely surprised about the Orsimer popularity. The berzerk rage ability is so insanely broken from start to finish that I thought they would be way higher on the list. And even if you don't like the green skin and the underbite with giant tusks they do look pretty fitting for such a brute race.
Right tho?? It's so useful on Legendary, it even gets MORE powerful with max sneak. I slept on the orcs hard up until I made my first

Skeletical if you trick the thalmor then you’re an ally to the nords and imperials

Being too indecisive when it comes to choosing magic or melee, the Breton race has always been my perfect pairing of the two
Same, battlemage bretons for life
As an Altmer Vampire Lord does this make me the 1%?
No.
Only the finest and greasiest fellows play orcs.
Spleen McQueen me!
Only the boys play as orcs
Preach brother
I play orcs as high powered tanks, walking in everywhere and warhammering everything to death.
Emo Shrek
I was actually expecting Khajiit to come in 1st
Edit: My favorite race to play as is Argonian
Most played race: Dragonborn
Surprised my favorite race is so low but yeah on the meta Imperials got screwed, a pointless passive and a meh CC "daily power"
but to be fair, the Imperial lore is a bit more subtle, Nordic, Aldmeri, and Akaviri cultures have all had their hand in it but on the surface you just see a bunch of Romans. (oblivion didn't help much either)
Yep, wish they had the Star of the West ability like in the last two, a stamina drain ability would had have some use. Lucky the races don't matter too much overall, i mean the game balance is easily broken.
They are my favorite race mostly because I am obsessed with the roman in real life
thanks to Akatosh skyrim haven't PvP like TESO, so really racial abilities dont matter that much. I was Imperial and Ranger/tank. Idon't mind the money just... wanted to rol play
Anewlevel imperials are the romans and war was there bread and butter
Voice of the emperor is the only illusion effect which works on enemies up to level 99. The fact people don't use it doesn't make it lame. The passive ability is very useful when doing completionist runs. I voted Bretons though because resistance.
I like playing as a High Elf. I could care less about the Thalmor, they won't stop me from enjoying playing as the High Elves.
High elves are the best. Who wants to be the cool kid nord when u can be the bad guy yourself.
Those silly nords will thank us one day. Not all altmer suppose the thalmor definitely not this Hero
around elves, watch yourselves
@@Gentleman_Orange a lot of high elves don't approve of the thalmor but most of those could fight against them were neither removed or not currently in the picture. But yes, the concept of fighting a lot of my race to save the world has grown on me
@@worthywill9294 i would rather prefer to side with thalmor that hero shit played out
Wild Guess, most played are nords, least played are wood elves.
My favourite: Imperial.
Bruh
Bosmers are good archers so...
Sneak archer tho
Oof
Dirty imperials, VICTORY TO THE STORMCLOAKS!!
