Fantastic. I travelled behind many a 50 between Leamington Spa and Birmingham New Street and Paddington. Great engines especially when opened up between London and Paddington. The 1980s were great for train spotting unlike today where there is little variety.
Very enjoyable video to watch. Thanks for posting! Brings back so many nice trainspotting memories. I always enjoyed when some drivers would let you into the cab whilst in the station.
This is 1 of the best vids I have seen stuff happening and a variety of trains its great. It just so happens I am modelling the early 80s so I am bias but still there is a lot going on and the filming is quite good too; well done.
That was one filthy train towards the end. I remember London is the 80s as a child. It's amazing how filthy the place was and how dirty everything was,not just trains. It a national embarrassment that a train got that filthy-the Japanese wouldn't have had it then or now.
50 045 - around 3 mins in, accelarating away light - enjoy! Yhis is why so many people are saving examples of this amazing loco...you can also see why the 37's have following too (around 5mins mark)...brillaint!
hehehe i remember that 50, always broke down ! love the 31 with down ecs for ooc too ! looks like someone was in a hurry to get to old oak club for a quick pint on that light 50045 too !!!
No locos at the Ranelegh Bridge stabling point I see.. I gave up spottong in 1981.. can't see why anybody does it nowadays, there is absolutely nothing to look at except a ceaseless hegemony of banal multiple units in garish lollipop-liveries. The triumph of further uniformity and profit-driven consolidation. No wonder the heritage railways are booming eh?
Subscribed!! Thanks for the memories, classic footage 👍

I was only 4 then but trains back in this era were amazing, so unique and had character. Rail now looks the same.
This is awesome. It brought a smile to my face. Fond memories :-)

@4SRKT It used to be the same in the York/Hull area back in the late seventies , only this time the culprit was 31 412. We used to see it every week.
Cool, love the old classics :)

Royal Oak tube station was a great place to see the action.
I dealt with these great Locos every day as a Shunter at Penzance.
