I’m Allie’s exact age and cannot emphasize enough how much kidnapping was in the news/culture growing up in the US in the late 90s/early 00s. I could only ride my bike 3 houses down both ways. It was very scary and traumatic! Great point you added about how simple life is for many children and how weak that is as a core argument for conservatism.

You could escape kidnapping by staying home. When we were young we knew we could not escape nuclear war. That the world’s leaders did manage to escape it as time went on is not my point. When we were growing up, during the time we were growing up, just children, we did not know and no one could assure us that our lives would not end in a flash.

I don't believe people are born in sin. I don't believe in the concept of a wizard in the sky putting a red mark by my name because I ate my brothers burrito.
The concept of believing in reward and punishment is low on the scale of moral development. It is lower than peer pressure. Doing what is right because it is the right thing to do is the mark of higher moral development. To do so requires looking inward, and not expecting a reward or punishment.

@@AJThomas-h2q I'm a gentile. I eat bacon without guilt. Here's chatgpt summary of the AD 50 council where the Early Church Fathers were deciding on rules for gentiles ... The early church council you're referring to is the Council of Jerusalem, which took place around AD 50. The council addressed the question of whether Gentile converts to Christianity needed to follow the Mosaic Law, including circumcision. The conclusions were summarized in a letter sent to Gentile believers, and the key rules they were required to follow included:
Abstain from food sacrificed to idols.
      Abstain from blood.
Abstain from the meat of strangled animals.
      Abstain from sexual immorality.
These guidelines were intended to help Gentile believers live in harmony with Jewish Christians and maintain a sense of purity in their worship practices.
      === As for Sunday, here's a summary again ===
Yes, early Christians began to worship on Sunday, which they referred to as "the Lord's Day." This practice likely originated because Sunday was the day of Jesus' resurrection. The New Testament records gatherings on the first day of the week (Sunday), and early Christian writings from figures such as Ignatius of Antioch and Justin Martyr confirm that Sunday was set aside for communal worship, breaking of bread (the Eucharist), and preaching. This shift distinguished Christian worship from the Jewish Sabbath, which is observed from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

Funny then how many millions more children these days are supposedly being 'born gay' when all that's changed between generations is the way that we talk about it. If homosexuality leads souls to hell (as it does and anyone who suggests otherwise forfeits the right to be called Christ's children) then we'd better make sure that the conversation surrounding it reflects this reality, unless we want millions more being 'born gay' even than we have now. In the old days, most people who identified as LGB could have direct abuse or assault tied back to their childhood or adolescence. Now people just go to school like normal people and come home gay. What if there are ideas that are themselves so detestable "abominations" that an impressionable child can be perverted in the same way, you could say 'raped', by merely being led to accept them as reality. Judge the tree by the fruit.

Um......yes? Because you were a child. You were incapable of grasping anything more complicated than "PB&J or tuna fish sandwich for lunch?", and you didn't have to pay your own bills, drive yourself to work, or do your own laundry. Depending on how far back you want to go, you literally didn't even have to wipe your own butt. Nothing is simpler or better than being a toddler in a family with even minimally competent parents.
If the complexities and responsibilities of being an adult are too burdensome for you, then just be a good tradwife and just cook, clean, mind the babies, and stop talking about things in the real world that are too hard for your precious little head to handle.

Apparently she doesn't remember the James Byrd Jr. dragging murder, Matthew Shepard's murder, school shootings began in the 1990s, Amadou Diallo murdered by NYC cops '99, lots of serial killers like Jeffery Dahmer who got away with killing a drugged Asian teen because he was gay, AIDS, the downfall of Ralph Reed, etc. She doesn't know what she's talking about. When I lived in Jax FL in 190-1994 the National guard was called because gangs were shooting motorists on the interstate and one died. I used to listen to Rush and Sean too. In the late 90s Sean had a guest on talking about how poor and POC were being executed while their middle class/wealthier white counterparts were getting life in prison for the same crime in the same county. Illinois put a moratorium on the death penalty to study this further. She is a revisionist.

I am a secular Jew but my family practiced growing up. I can’t even tell you how much antisemitism we encountered from neighbors and classmates. We had some really awful and frightening experiences and many of them were at the hands of people claiming to be “good Christians.” Maybe the area is more tolerant now than it used to be, but the 90s sure weren’t the “good old days” for anyone who wasn’t white and devout Christian.

Fun fact - even the rise of nationalism has nothing to do with Christianity.
We have the exact same problem all over Europe. Also here in Germany and right wing parties get the most votes in the Eastern part of Germany that once was the German Democratic Republic that was part of the Eastern block countries. Most people there aren't Christians. In Germany right-wing ideology is more connected to neo paganism if it's connected to any faith system at all.
Less religion doesn't make the world a better place as people will still be people. They will always find reasons to hate or even kill each other. A large part of the problem is in-group/out-group thinking. Religion can be a part of that or it can connect people (as it should).
There is most of the time no singular cause for the issues humanity has to deal with.

It doesn't seem like what Jesus would do. Start with a weekly income that would make today’s young people-those under 49-vomit, after they screamed. Continue with no health insurance, father dead because there was no money for medicine. School was free. But the good stuff, the sports, the after-school music, band, art, that had fees so that was out. Stopped one of my interests when a fee of 25 cents a week was imposed. Yet we were considered middle class, the suburb where we lived said so. We lived daily with the very real threat of nuclear war. Watched the fallout shelters go up, usually on one of the ends of the house. Then they killed our leaders. In front of us. Four times. Much, much more was nothing like today, but I’ll stop there. Sleeping during history class was she? Or did her parents raise her as a princess who was certain that all that went before her was beneath her?

Trump is an awful man, and I'm embarrassed Christians made him such a figurehead and defend him so much (versus. for instance, voting for him with apologies and as a necessaey evil in this ridiculous 2-party system). It's also probably true his current charges/convictions *are* BS from the deep state or something. Dumb move, might backfire on them, because too many centrists suspect this is BS.
We Christians need to get our heads out of our asses and stop pretending that politics of either side are the answer. We can use politics as a tool, but let's stop letting the Tools use us. Biden is Trump's fault. Trump is Obama's fault. Obama is Bush's fault. Bush is Clinton's fault. Etc. And the real fault lies with the cheerleaders on each side, allowing ourselves to be continually polarized, blind to nuance. I'm not saying dont prefer a side. I tend to vote one way too. But really? Really? In a 2-party system, your side or my side is correct about every single issue in this complex, broken world, and the other side is 100% wrong? Really? Come on, man! That doesnt even make sense.

There are regular story hours where one of the childrens librarians will read, but people protest the drag queen story hour as if the kids and adults are forced to be there. It is very confusing.

Never thought I'd see the day when people would be nostalgic for the Clinton years.

i would love to see allie talk to someone like you with actual critical thinking skills , the things she has said truly break my brain and the comments on her videos are abhorrent to say the least. i know she’s a propaganda machine but at least for her viewers to see and listen to someone like you outside of their bubble.

Also there’s the hilarious flex and low jab at Disney with the quote “Want to go back to when things were simpler” and shows a pic of a family at the Swan and dolphin at WDW 😂

Gotta love misquote that just helped her cause: "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and courage" uhhhhh.....
It's "Power and love and a sound mind"

$5k?! (clutching my pearls) ABS makes those front row/snake pit Metallica tickets I’ve been eyeing look like a real bargain! Come on, Tim, she’s just doing her patriotic capitalist duty to stimulate the economy…

I’m in the Dallas area and I’m shocked at the price. The church it’s being held at is I believe where my seminary graduation was held and having worked for them full time I know they aren’t excessively spending for things like that. It’s also a surprise just b/c I feel like Robert Jeffries church is more political and in the same area.

And how is America ever family focused without universal healthcare? Without fully paid maternity leave for at least 4-6 months? Without fully paid vacation days for everyone (at least 25-30 days a year)? Without good minimum wages? Without an affordable education system? affordable college? A good work-life balance? (my husband and I both work 30 hours (me) and 32 hours (he) a week!) How is that ever family friendly? It's NOT!!!!
