Hello Gunny. I wish I had seen your videos before I started painting my bike tank/fairings a couple of years ago. I did watch a lot of TH-cam videos but your knowledge of the skill of using a paint gun is head and shoulders above the others I have watched. I shall only be doing the odd paint job maybe once a year so will stick with two guns. Currently have an ANI R160Q 1.2 but am looking at possibly getting the ANI R160 Compact 1.3. I am slowly making my way through your presentations on TH-cam and cannot wait for some better weather so as to set my gun up using your 'wall of air test' and seeing how it comes out on a test panel. I do have another bike which needs painting and I anticipate this time the finish will be far better, and more enjoyable! Thank you for sharing your knowledge dude!
Just had to come back and say... Thank you! After listening to the advice from this video, I sprayed possibly the best coat of clear I've ever sprayed. I'm using a different gun, and spraying a guitar neck. But the overall method is the same for all spray guns. I've spent countless hours listening to people all say the same things. Reading the same stuff from article to article. With my best efforts, I could only ever achieve a somewhat smooth coat. A solid B at best. Always a bit of orange peel, or some issue somewhere. After applying the wall of air method... I was shocked. The coat I sprayed today was perfectly smooth, and looked as if it had already been level sanded and polished. And this was using water based poly. A relatively thick product. 1.0mm tip. So, the atomization is fine. But I'm stunned. This is by far the best advice ive found anywhere. Simply amazing. Thanks again!
Thank you for your kind words, I feel very privileged to have gained so much knowledge about paint and refinishing over the past 43years and i still get a buzz when someone acknowledges some info i have shared. Merry Xmas to you jason
Have landed here from the airbrushing world. Trying to get good info on what my best options are to scale up a little. "The Grand Algorithm" doesn't seem to understand that spray painting and airbrushing are related!! Thank you for your video. It is very comprehensive. Your knowledge is obviously from years of experience. Your technique of explaining the subject matter really locks into my brain. Thank you so much.
I build guitars. I’ve been finishing instruments for a little while now. Came across this video, and of all the tremendous amount of research I’ve done on this subject, the information you give in this video has been among the best I’ve found. Cheers
Thank you so much! This video is packed with great information for someone with little experience like me. I am an airbrush user and I was looking for a small gun that would work with my small compressor. The LPH-80 was the perfect solution. I just received it (same as yours, except with the 1.0 mm nozzle). All the info you provide here is extremely useful and I suspect that many experienced users are learning from it as well. You also have incredible talent as a communicator/teacher. I am subscribing now! Thanks again!
TERRIFIC video with great explanations for us beginners; nice slow talk, no horrible music, absolutely on point discussion. Could have used some info on cap sizes and when to use which. THANKS!!!!
One of the best videos on using a spray gun of any type, although I am about to use my LPH80 for the first time. Everything is covered clearly and thoroughly, from setting air pressure, fan size and volume. Thank you very much!
I’ve been fiddling with my gun as a debutant sprayer, thank you for your video. Very helpful in understanding how to get good results. Much appreciated
If you could have done this exact video using paint and the camera closer, it would have been gold. If you ever do a part 2 to this like that, it would be great.
Hi! It is very delightful to see your reviews, some, who do actually know, what to say! I, myself, have a 100L, 240L/min compressor. I'm going to buy Devilbiss SRI, SATA 4400, and this LPH-80. Those small guns are just enough for my needs.. Thank you very much for very good videos, and bless you.. ☺
Hi Jason I’m in the repair industry although it’s in the house building trade for the most part in new built houses. We were supplied & trained with a devilbliss Sri pro, but personally I don’t know why but I really don’t enjoy using it at all! This gun looks fantastic I think the Sri is just a bit too much for the repairs I do mostly they are 3/4mm chips at times. I’m really considering this one! I’m currently carrying a 10L 110 volt compressor with transformer & the 10m heavy rubber hose with a Sri through sites it just feels like overkill to blow in tiny chips on kitchen units & showertrays and whatnot. Could you please recommend a portable compressor that would accommodate the lph80 & make my 9-5 days a little easier 😂
thank you for the video but how could i hear the distance the fan is supposed to change if you kept talking over it at 4:30 timestamp regardless your video is very well done! thanks!
What interest me most about this spraygun is the very low air usage, about half of other miniguns like the sri pro or ansi r150. Is it good for motorcycles? (gastanks/fenders etc)
I switched to a mini gun for the spray work I do which is almost all motorbike race fairings, which mini gun would you choose best for that? I'm after another one and wondering what people prefer
@@jasonevans6720 If one is first just doing isolated fine chip like repairs on a car which size set up is best the 0.8 or the 1.2 which then has the added benifit of panel spraying. I dony know if there is misprint but one seller has the choice of 1.2 down to 0.8 and another down to1.00 which is correct?
Hi, there is no definitive answer to this question, so many variables to account for, best idea is do a test panel just remember you can always put another coat on if it's too dry but you can't take a coat off if it's too wet😁👍
@@seenbyme6696 it all depends on the situation. Temp, humidity, product being sprayed, target object material, even biometric pressure. Read your guns specs, and see what it says. Test different settings on scraps. Mostly, listen to what he says in this video. It’s the best advice I’ve found regarding spray gun setup.
love this gun for cerakote, i want i small gun for 2 part clear coats. we have a small sata that runs around 30-40 psi for these jobs do you know if the lph-80 can run a decent clear coat on small parts?
If you are painting small/medium areas on say a car say A3 size i would use a 1.2mm tip, if painting small areas say A4 or say a motorcycle helmet i would use a 1.0mm tip
this size compressor will give you problems, it is only just capable of giving stable air to the spray gun and will run almost continuous this will make the air hot and cause a lot of moisture/water. i would be looking for a 2hp 7cfm 50l tank minimum

I enjoyed your video, thanks for this great information! I purchased the Iwata LPH-80 because your review. It is a most exciting air gun! Thanks again
FANTASTIC channel and content!
Would really enjoy seeing that video on painting new plastics.
Absolute legend. Want to learn smart repair and have this gun so came to learn tips for it and find out you’re a teacher too. 👍
I agree with Dr. Jones....Thank you Jason for making this video. I am ordering a LPH80 too. Again, thank you!
Best clip about spray guns I've seen so far
Best video on LPH80 and spraying ever!

great video, I just bought this for cerakote painting! This video is exactly what I was needing.

ive been looking for a small gun like this for airbrush projects rhis video gave me the info i needed. thank you.
great review, ordered mine via Ebay from a japanese seller, still skeptical but your review is very clear so i expect good results with it.
Best set up explanation I've ever seen. BRAV0

Really good video and it allows me to make an informed purchase decision. Thank you for posting
Excellent review and demonstration. Thank you!
Thank you so much. This is an informative video. Please make a comparison with the SRI if possible.
Like I mention before: very interesting information. What kind of compressor is required for this gun (liters etc.)?
12/14 cfm 100+ litre min
Thank you very much for this video!
Hi, great video. Can you tell me how the Iwata 8- comes packaged?
Never mind I see it on the bench
What interest me most about this spraygun is the very low air usage, about half of other miniguns like the sri pro or ansi r150.
Is it good for motorcycles? (gastanks/fenders etc)
Bought the LPH80. What manometer do you have beneath the gun?
You were excellent job to explain 👏 🤙🥳 thank you.
Can I get a cup is smaller as 1/25 cars ? ( I don't read or talk)
Great stuff M8 thank you!!!

Great video buddy!
thank you for the nice review and tips
Great review, thanks for sharing.
Please tell me your preference between the Devilbiss Sri Pro Lite and the LPH-80! Thank you!
Lph80
Interesting about the distance from the panel! Does this apply for airbrushes too?
Not sure airbrushes do not have air hornes like a spraygun

Ok so suggesting I have the fan at full open and 2 screw threads showing on the fluid... distinct around 8 inch, would you say 2 bar?
@@seenbyme6696 good starting point but always do a spray out test and adjust

The spray fan almost less a half from Devilbiss Sri so its not true that the are the same!!!!
your so right out of 3 guns which gun do you recomend
let me know what you are going to paint and i will give you the best option
Hi Jason, what air regulator are you using in this video.
The budget anest iwata one

jason evans do you prefer a specific nozzle with the lph80 when clear coating?
If you are painting small/medium areas on say a car say A3 size i would use a 1.2mm tip, if painting small areas say A4 or say a motorcycle helmet i would use a 1.0mm tip
What a great tutorial.
in the market for an iwata gun, I'll be painting cars during the summer only, what would you suggest ?
W400 1.3 lv2
What kind of compressor do you use with this spray gun? I have a 1HP 3.1CFM @40psi 8 gallon compressor. Will this be sufficient for this gun? Thanks!

jason evans thank you very much for the reply. I will look into purchasing the 2HP unit with 7cfm. Thanks again and great video!!!
1.2?
I have the same gun and mines doesn’t fan out as wide Is There a reason for that?
Pablo Torres I have 3 of these and all work the same. Check your paint viscosity is correct and not to thick
hi what do you think of walcom fx ha
good gun well made
Smart
have you used ani r150 spray gun
yes, not very impressed they give me the impression of an old non compliant high pressure gun
Hi just saw video on welcome carbon spray gun tempting if not to dear
jason evans But the quality of the actual paintfinish is excellent imho and on par with Devilbiss sri and Sata minijet.
hi have all 3guns I do smart repairs 1to2 panels stoped using l ph 80 because split fan
the sri pro hd is the better gun hd stands for high demand, i have the 1.0 set up.
