I enjoyed your video and while I agree with you for the most part about the trigger stop on airbrushes, for me it’s a nice feature because of the arthritis in my hands and fingers. I can set it where I need it to be and once I pull the trigger to the stop, my fingers and hand relax a lot more making it easier for me. Now, that’s what works for me and why I like that feature. I don’t always use it, but it’s nice to have it when necessary.
@@TheAirbrushGarage I am having clogging issues but I believe it is to my compressor getting warm. It does not have a tank and I do not own a moisture trap yet.
@@gfyracing7632 GFY, yes tankless will generate a lot of moisture. My advice is get the 2 gallon Fortress or if space or budget is an issue get the 1 gallon. Now...as far as your clogging goes. Thanks for the great review!. It convinced me to go and get one of these. But I've got a question about air compressors. Which one would you recommend , not just for the Iwata NEO, but in general? Thanks!😎👍
Hans, I have and totally recommend the 2 gallon Fortress Compressor. I have a review on the 1 and 2 gallon. Check it out when you get a chance. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.
Differences are because Neo is not an Iwata, It says "Neo FOR Iwata". It is a Chinese bottom line brush with better O rings. The thing works just fine, it was my GP brush for 2 years and still is. Nice simple easily cleaned and as you noted mechanically simple.
I may have to get me one. I have two Eclipse and a Iwata CM-SB micron side feed which is expensive airbrush I also have a Paasche it’s a siphon feed I use it mostly for large backgrounds
Joe, I always wanted a micron but you are right! Like 500 dollars expensive. I will get one someday. I would really like to get your take on the micron verses your other brushes. And as far as the neo... if you're like me you just want to own one of each. lol. Thanks for the comment and watching.
Just got this. Your review has been the best ive seen and im confident i made a good investment getting this brush. Ive always used really cheap brushes so this is a vast step up for me. For all the nay sayers, i think your vid proves that its the skill of the user to get really fine details out of a brush like this. Cheer mate for the review
Chris, I'm glad you liked the video and good luck with the brush. And yes I was very impressed with the neo, as you saw. And I agree. It really is about paint viscosity, air presure and trigger control. But the difference between the cheepy's and a brush from Iwata is quality. Thanks for watching.
Hi , thank you for your education vidoea and passing the knowledge and experience. May I ask what is the recommended PSI for this airbrush? Does it automize the paint as good or close to thier other airbrush models ? I am planning to use the wicked pearl and wicked opaque
Great honest review! Just got this as a present. In your opinion, would it be wise to order a replacement needle and nozzle? I want to use this airbrush to prime and lacquer coat my models. Do you think it's good enough to handle both jobs with proper care? Thanks! New sub!
Kenshin73, I always have a replacement needle and nozzle on hand. Things happen. This way you don't have stop your project and wait for a couple of day until you get a replacement. Now as far as primer and lacquers keep in mind this is a .35 so as long as they are thin enough you should be fine. But...When I think primer I think thicker. If that is the case a .5 needle may work better for such an application. But again...thin enough I think youl be fine. Thanks for the question, subscribing and watching.
@@TheAirbrushGarage thanks for the quick reply! That's exactly the way I was leaning, thanks for the push. On the primer front, I mostly use vallejo. Water based acrylic, so that's no problem. For the clear coat, I use pledge revive it. It works wonders in layers, and hot water makes the cleaning a breeze. Thanks again for the input, replacement parts are on the way! Cheers!!!👍
I have the Iwata neo I've had it for about 2 months at first when I started using it it seemed to work fine I've been using airbrushes now for many many years for building models I have recently delved into doing fishing lures and that's one of the reasons why I got the neo because it's gravity feed and it worked fine for the first two or three weeks and then all of a sudden I could not get a consistent spray pattern out of it or nothing I use the same paint you do createx I've used everything from their opaques transparents candy 2.0 and their wicked colors and no matter how much reducer I put in it I've adjusted the PSI from 15 all the way up to 30 35 and I cannot get a consistent pattern out of it I put a new needle in it and a new tip didn't seem to make any difference I'll try some of the tips that you've shown in this video to see what happens
Daryl, yes! Please let me know if you resolve your problem. As long as your brush is cleaned there should not be a change in performance. Try a needle reamer in the nozzle. Thanks for reaching out and thanks for watching.
@@TheAirbrushGarage I did purchase an airbrush cleaning kit with the brushes and reamers in it and I did use that I was surprised by the amount of dried paint for that even though I was thoroughly cleaning the airbrush after each session
Thanks for the video - very helpful. I am a first time user - my son gave me one for Christmas this year! One quick question. When doing the reassemble, how do I know how far to insert the needle? Also liked seeing that you use both hands - makes sense for stability. Thanks again. G.
G H, just push it easily until it stops. Don't force it. It should now be seated properly in the nozzle. Ialso have a video on an Airbrush Cleaning Routine. You may find that helpful as I break down and put the brush back together. Not a neo bit it's the same thing. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Nice review. I bought the HP-CP High performance plus and after one use to test, the nozzle thread is damaged. When I opened the sealed box, the airbrush had paint residue in the cup and on the needle. I had to clean it including removing the nozzle after my first run. After removing the nozzle I noticed red residue on the thread what looked like rust, but after seeing your video, it might have been a disintegrated o-ring. After cleaning I put every thing together and as you mentioned I didn’t over tighten the nozzle, but on my second use, the liquid in the cup won’t spray out. It turns out the thread on the nozzle is split. 🙁 My first Iwata and it’s not a pleasant experience. The item is back to the distributor for warranty assessment, but I’m sure they’ll say it’s my fault and will need to buy a new nozzle. Sorry for my rant. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Joel, sorry to hear about your experience with that brush. I have that one too and I haven't had any problems. I expect iwata to make good on the brush and make sure you are satisfied. Let me know how it turns out. and of course...thanks for watching.
"When I opened the sealed box, the airbrush had paint residue in the cup and on the needle." Sounds like someone used a wrap machine on a used airbrush. A new airbrush will not have paint in it, certainly from Iwata. Where did you buy it?
@@JP-qb4zn I bought it from Metro hobbies here in Melbourne. It wasn’t sealed with plastic but had the round clear stickers that seals the main box. The distributor ended replacing the nozzle after them checking it.
Kao, I am using a Fortress 2 gallon. I have a video review on that if your interested. I spray at around 27 psi for most things. You should not need that kind of pressure. Make sure your paint is thin enough. Start with just reducer. If that doesn't work. You have a blockage in the nozzle. Also, make sure your regulator on you compressor is working properly. Let me know how you make out.
i have a hp-c plus with the same screw in nozzle type that is super small. i never take it out , i rather use a long soft brisold rigger brush that i soak in cleaner then go down through the top cup and out through the end of the nozzle tip. I turn it gently to remove any paint in the nozzle
Colin, thank you for sharing your Technique. It is always helpful to other viewers to hear different way of doing things. I do get a lot of viewers contact me when they break or damage a nozzle. I remove mine all the time and I never damaged one. You just have to make sure you don't over tighten it. As I say "just snug it". Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
@@TheAirbrushGarage True , foresure . I have never removed mine I just use a long soft rigger style brush dipped in cleaner. I insert the brush into the gravity paint cup and gentle twirl it until i see the bristols come out the end of the nozzel. I never need to unscrew the nozzel
Got one! .... And a bunch of candy 02 colors with 4030. ... then got a whole testors metallics colors kit.... and finally a testors color shifter black base with the green to blue sparkle... Got a Pasche compressor, a braided hose, and all I need now is to go back to hobby lobby because apparently I left the 4011 and 4012 in the basket. Stupid me eh? While i was there, I bought about 10 colors of rit dye. Im gonna try them on guitars. Wish me luck... because Im clueless. I havent even opened the boxes yet. Im terrified to put something in it and not know how to clean it out.
D.J., Awesome! I have some higher end brushes but I absolutely love my neo. I wouldn't use the 4030 with the candy's. Createx now recommends the 4050 UVLS clears. 4030 can "shock" the candy and cause it to gel. If you use it, make sure you mix it in a cup and let it sit for around ten minutes. If it is still liquid with no lumps you should be good to go. Also, Createx recommends the 4011 reducer, now I used the 4012 for years but it contains acetone. Createx has actually stopped producing it but they are still selling whatever is in the pipeline. I use the 4011 exclusively and I use the 4012 for cleaning. So you like guitars? I play as well and I am restoring, painting and airbrushing a guitar as well. Also, I have videos on the reducers, UVLS clears and the 4030 and how to clean an airbrush. If you get a chance check them out and good luck, you'll do great. Thanks for watching.

Absolutely no question....the Fortress 1 or 2 gallon. 2 gallon is 180, you can get it on sale for 160 and 1 gallon for 150 goes on sale for 110. I have video's on both and the 2 gallon is the one in my shop.

With that said....I use my neo along with all my other airbrushes but I would never be without my eclipse. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.
@@TheAirbrushGarage Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure Grex out of Taiwan at some point in time was manufacturing the Neo for Iwata, but the final assembly was in an undisclosed Chinese factory.
@@Johnnybomb1 I've always heard this as well. The box says "Assembled in China from components of Taiwan", so that fits. I'd heard a rumor in the last year or so that Iwata had changed this and taken NEO production or assembly in-house, but I haven't confirmed this.
My local Hobby Lobby had one on clearance for $15 and on the box it said “does not work ! Clogs” So I bought it, gave it a deep clean and it’s working. SCORE!
Little o ring doesn't need much to seal on the nozzle, I'm not that surprised, as a mechanic, I see what people do to their cars. People strip bolts, nuts that you wouldn't think we're possible to strip...... people like that are their own worst enemy
I have just started using createx paint. 4050 and 4030( balancing clear) changed my life. Mostly been doing rc bodies, but also 1/25 model cars sometimes. There was a neo on sale for a discount at hobby lobby, open box(nothing missing and looked clean). So stoked, it looks like I picked a winner.
What is your opinion on this Iwata Neo vs the Paasche VL? I was considering the Neo for ‘fine’ work, and the VL for ‘medium-fine’. I purchased the Paasche VL about forty years ago, but just started using it three years ago. I also have a Paasche H that I use for “non-precision” painting , such as first-layer primer. I’m ashamed to say that the H sat in my paint-supply chest for some forty years, un-used 🥸 Yeah, I was out of modeling for far far too long, but I’m back in with a vengeance..
Ernest, I started with a Paashe VL 20 Years ago and really liked it. But I haven't used a siphon feed in a long time. What I can say is that if you are looking for a more detailed oriented gravity fef brush you can't go wrong with a iwata neo or an Eclipse for the money. Thanks for the question and watching.

Hello, I am new to air brushing, and really appreciate these videos. My question is why can I not use my air brush for more than 5 mins with out it getting clogged up. Even after deep cleaning. I feel like I'm guessing my 10 percent reducer correctly, but maybe not? Thanks in advance!
Jeremy, here is a video I did on how to get paint to flow. Check it out when you get a chance. th-cam.com/video/XnbRkeYBVyY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KqrgVBB1X1tW-tiP I hope this helps.
You made my day
Julio, so glad you liked the video. Nice brush for the price. Best of luck with it. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Hi I liked your Visio on this airbrush and I'm goi g to purchase one from Amazon.
Billy, I am glad you like the video. Good luck with your new airbrush. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
I got my new airbrush today.
Oh and good luck to you too I will keep watching your Vidio Than you.
Differences are because Neo is not an Iwata, It says "Neo FOR Iwata". It is a Chinese bottom line brush with better O rings. The thing works just fine, it was my GP brush
for 2 years and still is. Nice simple easily cleaned and as you noted mechanically simple.
What size hose should I use the one I have is too big
I may have to get me one. I have two Eclipse and a Iwata CM-SB micron side feed which is expensive airbrush I also have a Paasche it’s a siphon feed I use it mostly for large backgrounds
Joe, I always wanted a micron but you are right! Like 500 dollars expensive. I will get one someday. I would really like to get your take on the micron verses your other brushes. And as far as the neo... if you're like me you just want to own one of each. lol. Thanks for the comment and watching.
Thanks!
Thank you sir!!!
Bomeshary, it sprays great. It is an eclipse with a side cup. I spray between 25 and 30 psi. I absolutely love this brush.
Thank you for your quick response, @@dancuccurullo8453
Cheers!!!👍
Im sold. Thank you! 😁
Also liked seeing that you use both hands
- makes sense for stability.
What air compressor are you running? I have the same air gun but it’s not pushing out a lot of air. I have my psi between 40-50. Thanks
@@TheAirbrushGarage True , foresure
@@TheAirbrushGarage yessir!... love guitars. Im a singer songwriter and musician. I have an artistic side that likes to try new things. Whether its a new instrument, or a new art medium. Ive never airbrushed, but Im eager to give it a try. I also build drums. So instead of paying artists to do art, I figure I'll keep watching folks like you who pass along tutorials. I dont want to sound arrogant in any way, but rather confident in using the talents God granted us all. We all have something to offer.
Thanks for the video!
Dave, you are welcome. I am glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching.
@@TheAirbrushGarage I asked this in the comments of one of your other video's. What small compressor with a tank would you recommend up to $150-$175?
Absolutely no question....the Fortress 1 or 2 gallon. 2 gallon is 180, you can get it on sale for 160 and 1 gallon for 150 goes on sale for 110. I have video's on both and the 2 gallon is the one in my shop.
@@TheAirbrushGarage Thanks. I watched those reviews and like them both but am wondering if they are a little large for my space. I'll take a drive down to HF and take a look at one in person. Thanks!
Really helpful review. I think I'm sold.
David, great brush for the price. Thanks for watching
@@TheAirbrushGarage Just pulled the trigger (found it on sale). It'll be here next week. Does it come with a hose?
Nice. Congrats and enjoy and no it does not come with a hose.
Hi I was thinking of getting a .35 brush. Trying to decide between the eclipse and neo. Is there a quality difference?
Patricia, yes. If you can spend a few more dollars I would get the eclipse. I recommend the neo for a starter brush for someone on a tight budget. With that said....I use my neo along with all my other airbrushes but I would never be without my eclipse. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.
I just got my neo but I love it
George, you will love it. Great brush to start with. best of luck.
Do you know iwata neo is OEM by which company?
Danny, I do not. I know it says neo for iwata but to me if it says iwata, its an iwata.
Super cool Video, thank you very much.!!! :)
Ben, glad you liked the video. I Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching.
Always remove the needle first before removing the nozzle tip and nozzle cap
Ronald, total respect for how you do it and what works for you. I prefer a different way. Thank you for the comment and for sharing your technique.
Is this model made in Japan or China?
LifeInSpace, it is assembled in China. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.
Ryu rc, thanks for the comments. I really appreciate it. I am glad you are enjoying the channel. Thanks for watching.
$60!!! I paid $120!
That One, where did you pay $120 for a neo?
What is your opinion on this Iwata Neo vs the Paasche VL?
I was considering the Neo for ‘fine’ work, and the VL for ‘medium-fine’.
I purchased the Paasche VL about forty years ago, but just started using it three years ago.
I also have a Paasche H that I use for “non-precision” painting , such as first-layer primer.
I’m ashamed to say that the H sat in my paint-supply chest for some forty years, un-used 🥸
Yeah, I was out of modeling for far far too long, but I’m back in with a vengeance..
Ernest, I started with a Paashe VL 20 Years ago and really liked it. But I haven't used a siphon feed in a long time. What I can say is that if you are looking for a more detailed oriented gravity fef brush you can't go wrong with a iwata neo or an Eclipse for the money. Thanks for the question and watching.
did you mean four or forty?
