18:15 i looked at the first crash frame by frame, and it seems like you landed with a bit too much vertical speed, to where the rear landing gear bounced a bit, and causing spaceplane to rotate foward a lot during touchdown, which caused way too much stress on the front landing gear than it was meant to hold, so it failed, causing entire spaceplane to fall fowards and crash
Scott Manley is the entire reason I know KSP and know anything about space flight and how rockets work. If it weren't for Scott I wouldn't be so hype of space x and the future of space flight
Okay, that's a big pet peeve. These rockets weren't "designed" by AI (it's possible to do that) They were "dreamed up" by AI. The AIs used rely on combining images, not on engineering or any consideration of physics at all, whatsoever. I'm glad you're having fun with these kinds of things! But for me, it turns the video from something potentially interesting (and something that was promised by the title) into something banal. Its only value is as entertainment, and that's not what I personally go to educational channels for. For anyone else who finds it hilarious, more power to you!
I really like your long-form explaining videos, but also very much enjoy the shorter, funny, lighthearted letsplays. It's a like from me! (Also cool and very funny video idea!)
A more practical approach would be to allow AI to interact and play with KSP in order to be trained on all the features of the program and to iteratively learn how to build and fly successful rockets. Then once trained you would get better special purpose built solutions to run in KSP. Your attempt leaves it open to mistakes in your settings and input into KSP which might cause these rockets not to work. You asked Meta to design a picture of a rocket not to build a rocket that could actually fly along with all the tech details required to enter into KSP.
Around 21:30: That is a rocket launch platform. :-) Actually I had similar idea years back but with only one rocket on the platform. My idea was before SpaceX falcons were around: The platform would lift the rocket to a hight of around 10-20km (going of course a bit horizontally too) so that it could use vacuum optimized nozzles. After separation the platform would have landed propulsive, aided with control surfaces, without having experienced practically no re-entry heating. So I kinda invented a reusable first stage/platform. :-)
*@Everyday Astronaut* 11:40 I think you might be launching that design in the "wrong" way, it should probably launch more like the first version. :D The initial part of the launch should be mostly horizontals, where the atmosphere is thick & the wings gives much lift, then when just before it's staging time, angle up & launch upwards to orbit. If possible, mount the rocket at maybe a 45* angle on the launch stand?
Meta 1 flew like crap in part because it treated the lower orange tank section as though it was exposed to the oncoming air stream without a nose cone. Oops!
47:04 that a very interesting goal, will the video have subtitles for other languages? i would be happy to help deliver this to the non-English audience, i can and am willing to volunteer to help translate it to Arabic if you want.
Grok is the product, not the model. (unlike GPT and Gemini, Grok isn't multimodal). If you are serious, you should've gone with Flux or Stable Diffusion, SORA, Veo 2 etc.
I am so glad you’re playing KSP again I’d love to see more videos like this loved the starship that you did years ago which explored the jewel system and I love this video that you’ve done. I definitely love to say it at least want to see a sequel video where it uses ChatGPT or Google Gemini as I have used those two to help assist me in creating more SpaceX style rockets, including coming up with the ingenious way of catching a booster, using docking ports as the catching pins at the bottom of the booster. It would especially be fun if you did more stock KSP videos cause then more people like me who have console could possibly re-create them.
I am not thinking with an AI or Kerbal software. I am trying to have an critic vision of past and today rockets. With building an rocket with tools, you are closed in some specific conceptions.
the meta attempts 1-2 and 3 remind me of a drawing of a hypothetical launcher imagined around the 2000s based on the shuttle propulsion stack the launcher brought together 2 complete propulsion stacks (2 X central tank + 2 X 2 booster) framing a super tank (3rd stage ??) at the top of which is the payload the "monster" was called the "1000T launcher"
@@DragonKingGaavconsidering Elon is now just sort of fully out there as a Nazi and a supporter of the German AfD, I’m surprised Grok’s creations didn’t have more V2 elements in them.

GROK 1 2xdetachable Sabre engines/tank/boosters both sides of a main body... Inflatable/deployable wings to bring the sabres back to runway... Just because abominations are fun :P

@ yes this made me wanna spend time on this instead of gaming 🤣 Is it free to use? I’ll look it up ☺️ I love space and rockets so I think I’d enjoy playing with it a lot
Meta 1 rocket you made is way off from the ai pic... you took some serious liberty to say the least😅 nothing seggusted the side booster-like cylinders detached in fact pretty much the opposite given the landing legs of the rocket would have been on them... you detach the feet with the srbs, thats the other problem you used solid rocket motors on a reusable rocket.. thats not reasonable... and the ai Pic didn't seggust thwy were solid either in fact they look more like existing liquid side booster tanks then any srb in that ai pic... thw only part that should have detached imo, is the orbiter(given thats the point of it being there) the rest should have all come back and landed as a solid block

2:55 the top needs to be pointy. Round isn't scary
hahah😊
Pointy is scary👍
21:37 ah yes the starship + SLS + Apollo platform, my favourite.
Dying of laughter at the VBA roof landing. Imagine if super heavy came in and did that for 5 minutes
its sad that the OG players still choose to stick to KSP 1. KSP 2 was such a wreck
No it's not. Modded KSP1 demonstrably better. Bit like the Mk1 human brain still being demonstrably better than so called AI. 😊
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
No it isnt. KSP 1 is just better. And playable.
Well, ksp 2 is dead, so
@@gojidoh Is it really dead now? Are they still promising to fix it or did they actually give up?

Scott Manley: Moves from KSP to real rockets
Tim Dodd: Moves from real rockets to KSP

Tim Dodd actually started with KSP too.
Feels like 2017 EDA!
Just having some good old fun!
the number 2 didn't land because there was too much weight on the front.
That shuttle landing explosion and bg music stop was hilarious
This is awesome! Kerbal is actually what got me interested in rocketry and space in the first place.
Looking forward to the Apollo video!
same those old scott manley KSP videos are golden
Wow I made this exact format and video style TWICE In juno before this, the rocket even looks pretty similar
like the easier to digest videos. please do something like this from time to time
Hard disagree.
I say if we can measure rockets with bananas, that plane can have a 0-2-A+ rating.
Good show.
I enjoyed this thanks.....but I'd like to see the same thing done with rockets from books & films. I vote for the Tintin Moon Rocket.
43:42 *It takes flight, just like how bricks don't.* :D
I'm so glad the Astro Awards are expanding even further this year.

Yeah, and how much effort would go into making the ai you're talking about? I'd bet it'd take just as much as creating an algorithmic rocket builder.
How on earth would that be more practical?

The Space Shuttle Berkut is crazy
So now we know that as long as we flea Earth the AI takeover can't follow us because it doesn't know how to make a proper rocket. 😂
These designs are freaking stupid and I love every single one of them
You should try to use Gemini advance AI and see how well it does
I've used it to help brainstorm rocket designs before, especially vertical launch systems
A flipping KSP video? Let’s do more of this!

The Meta 2 Rocket looks a bit like an space shuttle with the influence of an SR-71
Meta AI 3 has got to be the most Kerbal rocket ever! 😂
The AI was able to make a spaceplane that was barely functional and yet it was better than mine XD
The first rocket failed as the MK2 body is a lifting body and thus is forcing the rocket to roll placing it on top.
The one on the left is a cupola, but the right one looks like an aerospike
The weird triple rocket has a parachute at the top that could have helped.
