Forget the whole NATO, if only the UK + France + Poland + Finland + Sweden combined their capabilities, whatever is left of Putin's army would get smoked up pretty fast.
Despite the defense cuts and with fewer soldiers than 3-4 decades ago, the UK's forces can still punch above the country's weight. And that's without taking into account the nuclear capability, but let's hope that it never comes to that.
As I say, we have the quality, but lack quantity. We have the world class training, we have some of the most advanced tech in the world. We just need more of it 10 fold, and the same goes for personnel numbers as well.

Only the USA seems to have the wherewithal to maintain the numbers and a tech advantage at the same time. Everybody else needs to rely on allies. Today, USA spends more on its military then the next 10+ largest military spenders combined. By mid-century, it will be hard pressed to spend more than even the next two largest military spenders combined. USA won't have the margins to defend its allies in the coming era. Which is why USA wants allies to stop freeloading.

When I heard people in America saying that it was "blood for oil" I was so angry that they would suggest that my wonderful country, the United States of America, would send our young people out to die for anything less than the most noble reasons.

It is one thing for a soldier to go out and die for a righteous cause.
