Essential Larch Pruning - Building Structure &
    Ramification.
Unfortunately, as many of you know, life took over for me last year and I didn’t have the time along with confidence or motivation to tend for some of my Bonsai as I normally would love to do.
After losing my father, then a very dear and close friend and very recently my grandad. This took a big hit on my motivation, confidence and mental health.
But being back In the greenhouse surrounding myself with bonsais and nature. The love, motivation and positive vibes are for sure returning. The only way is up, right…?
So in this video I take you through 3 of my Larches that were is desperate need of pruning!
I take you through each Larch advising:
    •Where to make your cuts
    •What branches to leave
    •How to build ramification
    •Creating your apex
    •Creating structure

Reminds me of those Monty Python links in one of their episodes: "Number One: The Larch. The Larch. And now, Number One: The Larch"

Your the second person to make this link! I will certainly familiarise myself with this scene. Thanks for watching 🌱

Great instruction, I just pruned my larch and will go back and look again to see if I can do a bit better job.

Remember the old Monty Python shows? You have to do a 5 second video entitled: The Larch. Just like it was done on the show. That would be cool.

This was a little before my time. Although a timeless show to many I will familiarise myself with said scene and see what we can do 😁

@@nillysbonsai9636 Excellent! I know you can make one. Simple. That was a good show. The reruns should still be out there for you or on youtube. I think they came out with the first shorts.

It’s seems a little unseasonably warm so definitely trending with caution ⚠️ we’re not normally far behind you guys so we could expect a dip in temps yet! Thanks for stopping by 😊

That may well have been a winter flowering cherry or blackthorn. We’ve had many a sunny day encouraging them out 🌱

I really enjoyed that Sam. A great video and lots of experience and information. How is your brother's larch doing? I think it was a larch but can't remember now 😅

Thank you Alex, we all learn by mistakes and experiences! His golden larch did well last summer currently overwintering in a cold greenhouse. Hopefully I get to work on it this year he’s very untrusting of me for some reason :0 he appreciates bonsai but has very little idea of bonsai concepts and thinks I’m being Harsh In my decision making. That had to be pushing out the pot before I was allow to intervene 🤣

Nice looking trees. Now will the cuttings root? I never tried on my forest. Hopefully they have survived the winter outside from the -8F/-22C that we had. I know that one of the 3 was dead in the forest setting last spring, but I left it in for a natural setting.

I hope they pull thru for you Tom. One dead tree in a forest as sad as it was to lose. It could make a great feature in keep with a realistic scene.
