Hello, love the video + Kia!! I just got a 2009 XL? W/ the 3.3!! It’s a beast! I’d like to put air lockers + a 4” lift w/ a mild tune to motor (w/ simple bolt ons). I’d like to someday run my Kia like you do yours. What suspension are you running?

Have you got rear diff lock ? and have idea about rear diff lock (%100 or LSD). l think there is not for sorento original diff lock after market. May be app other brands parts , but l dont know which one is it
No. This car does not have differential locks or LSD. As far as I know there is no aftermarket but some Sorento has LSD from the factory
Hello. Love the video. I'm about to pick a manual transmission 2,4 or 3,5 gas or 2,5 TD. The first approach made me wonder: does the 2003-2007 (pre-lifting) 1st gen LSD works properly? I saw 3,5l 2004 on the Polish TERENWIZJA biggest local YT 4x4 channel. They check cars and trucks on some rollers, if a car can run out of it it has a limited-slip differential or no-slip at all. KIA Sorento I mentioned couldn't go off the rollers. The owner said "It's the older one with no traction control. After 2007 they gave Sorento a TCS. But, hey the guy had LSD on the rear axle, right? He said the oil was changed recently. The guy from the show asked about clutch discs. The owner said he did not change these. And I wonder.
*Does LSD in pre-2007 Sorento work so poorly or the guy simply failed the clutch service?*
Anyway. Do you guys have any source of stuff I could equip my KIA after I will purchase it. In Poland, it is a pain in the ass to get ANYTHING no bumpers, no snorkels, no springs, no drivetrain upgrading setups.

There are some Sorento that has rear LSD. Of course it helps at some conditions but there is no like other diff lockers that make no slip. This car does not have after market differentials that you can swap. This car is a good choice as a family car, it has a lot of space and good off-road capacities. But of course it has its limits. The Sorento in the video is 2.4 without LSD. It has winch, 2 inches suspension kit and 2 inches body lift. The suspension is custom made, specifically for this car by "4x4 Greek parts".

Any information on how post 2007 electronic traction control works? The owner I was tslking about has some knowledge about Torsen system that fits Sorento. 3,5L engine as far as I know comes from Mitsubishi (supposedly the same works in Pajero). The early 1st gen Sorento was used by Polish cops. They had whinch but regular tarmac tires. The only simmilar size 4x4 in this price range is the Nissan Terrano II. Terrano is OKAY -ish but they made it with very weak front suspensulion and flabby steering system that fails way too often. Funny cuz Nissan made indepe.ndent susp front to gain more comfort but it still far worst than Opel Fronteta and have no comfott at all.
I already met two guys that said the same thing. "This is better than Jeep Grand Cheerokee" one usess a 2,5 td 170HP the other has automatic transmission paired with 3,5V6 . Does
@@HanSolo__ I had Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ 4.0 gasoline (year 2001) with front and rear LSD (varilok) differentials. It has more off road capabilities from Sorento. But the fuel consumption is more more than 2.4 Sorento of course
At least in our Sorento the LSD works like a charm.
Grand Cherokee with front and rear LSD's is about as good in off road as Kia Sorento with rear LSD. Sorento has slightly better departure angles but the Grand Cherokee has front LSD so there's that.

I drove mine on a lake bed and almost got stuck sinking in the wet sand had some shitty tired on tho just shows you how much tires matter

Έχω κι εγω ένα Kia sorento EX που έχει την λειτουργία 4WD Auto και το αργό ή αλλιώς καρο. Μπορείτε να μου πείτε πως ενεργοποιώ το καρο; Εννοώ πρέπει να είμαι σταματημένος να έχω N να έχω D; Να είναι σβηστό το αμάξι στη θέση P. Επίσης μου έχουν πει είναι για λίγο και μέχρι 20km σε ταχύτητα. Και ΠΟΤΕ ΔΕΝ ΣΤΡΙΒΩ το τιμόνι. Τι ισχύει από όλα. Ευχαριστώ εκ των προτέρων για την βοήθεια σας! 🙂

Καταρχάς να πούμε ότι κάθε αμάξι μπορεί να έχει διαφορετικές ανοχές για το αν μπορείς να βάλεις αργά εν κινήσει. Αυτό μπορείς να το δεις στο manual του αυτοκινήτου (υπάρχουν και online σε PDF). Από κει και πέρα να πούμε ότι τα "αργά" και το "κάρο" που λέμε, είναι δύο διαφορετικά πράγματα. Τα αργά είναι η επιλογη "4 Lo" και βάζεις τις αργές σχέσεις στο βοηθητικό κιβώτιο. Το "κάρο" που έλεγαν οι παλιοι είναι το κλείδωμα του διαφορικού (μπλοκέ). Αυτό δεν υπάρχει στο αμάξι σου. Εσυ δεν έχεις ελέυθερο κεντρικό διαφορικό. Όταν βάζεις τετρακίνηση ο μπροστά και ο πίσω άξονας είναι κλειδωμένοι (50-50) γι'αυτο και δεν μπορείς να το βάλεις στην άσφαλτο και να στρίβεις. Σε κάποια αυτοκίνητα που έχουν κεντρικό διαφορικό υπάρχει επιλογή "4 Hi - part time" και "4 Hi - full time". Με την επιλογή full time εμπλέκεται η τετρακίνηση αλλά το κεντρικό διαφορικό είναι ελεύθερο και μπορείς να κάνεις και ταξίδι στην άσφαλτο. Όταν βάλεις part time, κλειδώνει το κεντρικό (50-50) και δεν είναι για άσφαλτο. Και επιπλέον όσα αμαξια έχουν στον πίσω άξονα μπλοκέ, είτε είναι LSD (περιορισμένης ολίσθησης) και εμπλέκεται αυτόματα, είτε είναι με κουμπί που το κλειδώνεις όποτε θέλεις. Το δικό σου από όσο ξέρω υπήρχαν και εκδόσεις με LSD
