Thank you for the detailed comment. At first I thought Ian created a persona to kind of show different mental health disorders/issues. But now that I know he has DID, I can see they’re alters (apologies for not using the correct term). Not personas. I caught on to Mito and Mr. Insanity. Mito seems to be a dark and mysterious alter? (Now reading more of your comment, Mito is seen that way through Ian’s eyes but he’s actually the protector) And Mr. Insanity seems to be a manic alter?
My degree in psych was very general and we learned a lot about BPD but not much about DID so I appreciate the downlow! And thank you for explaining Mito’s lack of an eye, also makes so much sense now! I will check out skinz and it also seems worth to watch his TikTok and IG lives to get a better idea! Very interested in this Hybrid introduction and what will come next.
Just went to your channel for the 27383 time to try to post those comments again and see if it works then I see this reply! I'm so grateful that it reached you. TH-cam was banning me for a period all the time but now they deleted my account completely and with that all of my previous comments. Call me weak or dramatic but I wanted to cry. I made this other account but I can't post long long comments anymore or else they'll disappear. Did you manage to see my text on the Hybrid also that I posted later? I have most of what I said saved on my notes but still the fact that the comments I already wrote won't reach more people is just sad to me. And I haven't figured out how to keep doing what I love that is to keep informing people about his art if I can't write my essays anymore...
But I'm looking forward to your reaction to Skins and everything else! Even if maybe I won't be able to comment much.

Nope, mine is short.
My English is really terribly. English is not my first language btw. It took a whole week for me to watched (with automatically English translation on, and it's not much helping me), translated properly and understood what Ian said only for one segment of his live IG. My brain was hurt 😜 lol!

Yes your are right, Ian has bipolar and DID (dissociative identity disorder). This causes him to have alters that make him black-out when they take over. You should check out his Skins demo MV, it was made by Mito (one of his alters) Ian had no memory recording or making the mv he just decided to post it ❤
Dpr live did not quit he just wanted to release music as Hong Dabin instead of dpr live for now

Ah that’s so interesting. I’m seriously so amazed that he is so open about it, a lot of people in the spotlight wouldn’t be.
I’ll check out skinz for sure! I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to Ian’s music. It’s good music that is also so thought provoking.

You asked about the white eye so you might be interested to know this
Both Ian and Mito have always struggled looking in the mirror. Ian has talked about it and is often seen squinting one eye looking in the mirror or into a front facing camera. This is quite common for someone with DID. Looking into a mirror can be quite “trippy”.
If he feels himself dipping he sometimes puts the white contact lens in as a coping mechanism:) he did that for one of his shows
Mmmmmmm that makes so much sense. How does he do lives? Since it’s usually a front facing camera 🤔 or does he use the other camera and then look at comments elsewhere? Just genuinely curious!

When looking at himself on the screen he squints one eye and touches his hair constantly. He doesn’t remember when it started but he was young.
He said people around him sometimes make fun of him bc he makes that face in the mirror

@@phiz8092 gotcha! I’ve seen some videos of his lives here and there but they’re just little snippets! 😂 I haven’t caught an actual live of his yet. He honestly seems to be really funny and sweet. But since he’s Aussie that doesn’t surprise me. I spent four months in Australia and they’re the nicest people 😂
Highly reccomend "Peanut butter and tears as well as "Skinz". One comment already explained what and who skinz was made by.
EDIT: AND MITO MOVIE I forgot about that one; the mito movie is bascially an album sampler so it has many different songs in it

Here is some info about the alters Ian has revealed and included in his work
MITO
he takes over during Ian’s manic lows. He is dangerous but also Ian’s protector. He seals away the childhood trauma and doesn’t let Ian access that. In mvs he often wears dark clothes, has one white eye, wears an eye on his finger and talks/sings in a very deep voice.
MR INSANITY
he takes over during Ian’s manic highs. He is very chaotic and lacks care for his safety (a big reason why Mito, as the protector, doesn’t like him). In mvs he is often seen with blonde hair and clown-like makeup. He eyes also go pink and green at parts and he is followed around by fireflies.
THE HYRBID
Ian has described this one in a few words like “abomination” “entity”.
It’s appearance takes on parts of MITO and INSANITY but it also takes on their worst and most dangerous parts.
Ian said it has a name but only about 6 people in his life know it. He might share the name in the future as his next album is mainly about THE HYBRID.
Oh very good synopsis on his alters! I’m starting to understand them a lot better now. I know DID is usually brought on by childhood trauma and tbh there’s still so much psychologists are figuring out about it. I’ve also heard that protective alters don’t want the childhood trauma to be explored because it could lead to the alters disappearing, idk how true that is. I haven’t actually read up on DID in detail or read any research journals on it. My degree was very general tbh. I’m very interested in the hybrid 🤔 it still blows my mind that Ian is so open about his alters and their characteristics and how they connect with each other.
