I first saw your post on Reddit like 200 some odd days ago and I was really interested in this. Haven't been playing XI for a couple of years but in a month or so I'll be buying a PC mainly to play XI and this texture pack is definitely getting installed! Awesome work that you've done and I can't wait to actually play with this instead of just watching your videos. Thank you for doing this and I can't wait to try this out! and
any chance you or someone could make an instalation video that's not so high on resolution? I can barely make out what it says there with my current monitor
So, I'm using Ashita. I went through all the steps, everything worked. Xipivot even moved the folder to the active overlays section, but it had no effect. I tried turning them on and off, reinstalling xipivot, zoning in and out of different areas, using different versions of xipivot, I'm not sure what else there is to try. Can anyone please help me?
Sorry this is really late but did you end up ever figuring this out? I've been trying to figure it out all day. I see the overlays but nothing happens when I enable them.

I am extremely confused as to how to install this. I'm using Ashita V3, and I just don't understand anything you're saying. If you were to make 2 seperate videos, one for each (Ashita and Windower) it would make things so simple. I have some other pack installed, but it's buggy, so I was looking into this one.
Even your mod page doesn't specifically say where to put the files and what to do. Unless I'm mistaken?
Anyway to get these instructions in writing? And the macros and such in writing, your screen is so small it's impossible to read anything :/
So i"m not too computer savvy. I downloaded the basic and just get a rar file, no folder. Am I doing something wrong?

Always wondering, what do you use to make the floating text above you and enemies look so good? Oh, found XITide. but how does one get it to work on windower, used the steps here and it wont load? It says loaded, but isnt showing the new font
I am having the same exact problem.
You have to directly copy it into the FFXI folder, not the XIPivot folder. Fonts load before so it has to replace the original. I have it working fine now
For example can we use Amelias for the graphic aspect of say wood, trees, buildings etc and combined with yours for aesthetics?
Please forgive me if this answer is in the video, or is easily accessible elsewhere, but is this HD pack exclusively for player models and gear? I do not want to add new textures to the environment, but the fidelity of the armor looks too good to pass up. Any information you have is helpful, thanks!
This HD pack is for everything - People have asked for a split to be made available - It's a lot of work but when I get a day or two free I'll do my best to split them, but can't promise anything soon I'm afraid!
@@Ashenbubs That is totally okay - This is an amazing passion project and you haven't asked for anything to do this. I can not expect you to burn yourself out trying to hash all of that out. Thank you so much for your diligence and your hard work, it really breathes new life into the game from the footage I've seen.
I'm probably missing a step, but I'm not getting a settings in the data folder
The Settings file is generated after you first launch XIpivot for the first time in game. Either via //LUA L XIPIVOT for Windower or /LOAD XIPIVOT in Ashita.
What is the name of the plugin that let you see your current gear that is equip?
Also what about the FFXIV style HD/MP/TP bar?
This is awesome! I just want to say after setting this up for the past few hours, using Windower is such a better experience to Ashta. Soo much better!

Weird! I tried using Windower but kept getting HORRIBLE slowdown on my rig, to the point where just running around in San d'Oria would cause the FPS to dip from 60 down to the low 40s. I just installed Ashita and everything runs flawlessly. Oh well!
So, quick question. I have ashita, i installed xipivot, mad the DAT's folder and put the AshenbubsHD into it. got in game and loaded it, small error saying that the config file could not be loaded. pull up the pivot status, load the overlay and nothing happens. Looks the exact same. any idea what im messing up?
so, it loaded when i death warped outa rolanberry fields and went into the mog house, hot damn thats a difference
@@raoinshishiza152 aha! Did you have to zone first? I don’t think I mention that! I do briefly say about changing armour to see the difference I think! Glad you got it sorted~
Hey, so I've noticed that the bald Hume model loses his head tattoo when you apply the HD textures.
I really wanted to download this, but it seems the current package for XI Pivot has changed dramatically since this video was made and it's no longer relevant.
Love your creations, hard work! Thank you very much! But I have a question, I hope you can reply if you see it: I'm using a 27" 4K monitor with 3840*2160 resolution and 150% zoom. Using windower4 to load Primex4 texture upscale, the game window is set to 3840*2100, then the problem is that the game UI becomes very large, and the game menu can not be seen. Changing the computer's scaling to 100%, the game UI display becomes smaller and the game menu is small. Please tell me how to set it more reasonable.

I like this mod with the exception of how the character and NPC faces look. Any way to know which folders and/or files cover just the faces?
/pivot isn't doing anything for me. It says it's loaded but the window never pops up (on Ashita)
The ashita v3 I have doesnt have XIPivot and doesnt allow me to enable updates for any plugins/addons.
On the XiPivot UI in game when I click the + button to add the available overlay to the active overlay, nothing happens. As if the button does not work like yours does at 8:20 into your video. Please help :)
There's currently an issue with the latest release of XIpivot, the developer is aware - Until then, I'd recommend using 0.3.1 - Found here:

After clicking the + button for the overlay, you'll need to zone or change equipment for the textures to reload.

So..I'm using Ashita and I did everything here but when I click the + to add ashenbubs from available overlays to active overlays it doesn't activate it. Nothing happens when I click the + button. I can see the little blue box with the + in it flash when I click so I know it's registering the click... Any ideas?

Running with windower, do I have to load the xipivot every time I log in? I noticed it is not loaded when I re-log.
in case you didn't have the solution for it, use the plugin manager in windower and tweak the settings there.
would love to be able to get this working but it just wont happen, i've got it in the exact same folder, relogged, loaded xipivot, zoned, hell i've even redownloaded everything, it just will not work, when i //lua l xipivot the overlays thing is just blank, its in c/me/downloads/addons/xipivot/data/DATs and nothing, tried multiple times
when i put the pivot folder into windower > addons there is no data folder... all thats in the xi pivot folder is a folder called "libs" a README a settings.sample XML file & a xipivot LUA file.. helpppp @Ashenbubs
ok, i booted ffxi and did //lua load xipivot & now in the folder theres a data and settings... one step closer

Using Windower and once I have everything setup as you show in your video, it says the files are loaded when i check status in game but nothing has changed visually.......am I just missing something here

Downloaded the prime version. how come it shows as a .rar file? and in the vid its in a folder? im on Ashita. I put the .rar file in a folder then put that into a DATs folder. It shows up as available overlay but when i click + it doesn't activate.
.rar is a zipped file like .zip, you’ll need to extract the contents of the folder into the DATs folder, and not the .rar file itself.

does thsi replace the Dgvoodoo or run alongside it? as im having real nightamre with my FPS right now whenever iam near other players or in high dense pop zones. i have windower4, FFXIView,XIpivot,FFXI-HD & your ashenbubs beta but it only seems to want to use the beta over basic or prime? i followed your guide & even changed the overlay scripts in the script files but my FPS is utter garbage drops from smooth 59.8fps to a sluggy 7fps whenever iam near other gamers (im not on laptop im on desktop PC with Nvidia 2060 super RTX card)
EDIT: just ran little experiment then.. it seem that trusts with II like Lion II or Prishe II etc (when they have that blocky aura around them) the will utterly destroy your fps rates to single digits ive also just set POL FFXI even windower4 ot ultra in my Pc settings menu now but thats not making any differences so i wonder if its Dgvoodoo & your ashen program hating each other?
Hello! Few things to go through here - Remove the Beta if you're using Basic/Prime, you won't need it anymore - If you experience FPS drops, turn MipMapping off - It runs alongside DGvoodoo. The aura effect you mention is a PS2 graphic effect that never looked good on PC, it's on all avatars and any trusts which are tier II, you can turn it off via an in-game setting which is: "/localsettings blureffect off"
@@Ashenbubs thing is im uttely clueless over these things so im trying to learn as ive owned a PC in all life & it wasnt until last sept when i had my 1st pc built for me & i have some amazing friends who remote my PC to set up all the technical side of things plus they have patience to put up with constant asking of questions lol .. yes the MM is off & im not sure where the Beta is lurking ? i have installed into the Dats folders as in your video but it wont show up in game, but thats good to know that its 100% compatable as i do like both of these add on & def adds a more awesome feel to the game :D i just hate this fps drop as its really having adverse effects on my gameplay .. oh another thing i think might be an issue? is ive lost the word font style after recent updates of ffxi & i cant seem to get them back, again i think that might be another issue im having?
as for in game stuffs .. shadows are off, animation frame set to 0, on screen charecters set to 0, footstep focus off plus all the other things to help maintain steady FPS rates none of it helps
ah nice thats handy as i didnt know that either as they are some of my best trusts i use so its super annoying when i use them i can even pull my weapon or lock on so i often get killed from lag as mobs swarm me so lag lock in animation lockout cos of fps struggling to keep up :(
edit: omg! wow second i turned off that horrible blur setting it went PING back to 59fps damn .. thanks dude thats awesome i never knew about that setting in game which makes me wonder if theres some other things that arent quite config correctly

A year later- I'm struggling to get this thing installed. it might be a 64 versus 32 bit system problem and I'm not sure how to fix that
Question regarding XIPivot using Ashita. Have installed everything and followed ashenbubs video guide. But when i get in game and do /pivot to add overlay i can see my available overlay and click on the add option but it does not move to Active overlays. Can anyone help me with this or point me in the direction i might be able to find an answer?
Hey Brandon - Have you unzipped the files into that location, or have you moved the downloaded .rar file there instead? If you unzip the contents of the install there, that should work - If all else fails, I have a discord that you can join via the information above :)
What did you do to reduce the size of the log window? Its so much cleaner.

When I download the XIPivot winrar folder it does not have a data folder in??
My copy of this didn't come with a settings.xml file. Do I need to make one manually?
There should be an example settings file with the xipivot files, and I believe another one should also be created the first time loading xipivot in game :)
Does this work with other HD mods like the "Make everything in FFXI Beautiful again" tutorial ?
I wouldn’t recommend running other texture packs with this one. It’s more of a pick and choose option really.
Any updates to this? I'm seeing some new stuff not "updated" like that new pink chocobo lol.
Is there another place we can download this mod? Nexus mod capping bandwith at 2mbs is horrible lol.
Need a video that walks us through the process for Ashita installation guide. a lot of points you didnt cover for Ashita. not getting the basic or prime visible in xipivot even though I've created the DATs folder and moved them in there.
Are the folders located in the same file path as the one show in the XIPivot UI? Did you unzip the contents of the files on NexusMods or just put the whole rar file in there? (Someone had this issue yesterday)
@@Ashenbubs Mine shows up in active overlays, but doesn't look any different. I'm on ashita and when I type /pivot status it shows up as available, but after I press the + to make it active nothing changes.

Gonna add this here for those that need. For ashita u need to download the xipivot 3.1 and replace the current xipivot.dll with the 3.1 one. After that you need to create the DATs folder under ashita pluggins and add the ashenbubs folder to it but you also need to add another copy in the pluggins folder, so it will be in 2 places. I also added a " /load xipivot " line in the pluggins section of the default.txt file for ashita. After that typing /pivot status ingame will bring up the menu and actually apply it. Then zone to different area. Hope this helps.
Now if someone can direct me on how to make xivhotbar stuff work for ashita, that be great mmmkay.

You can, yes - You can copy the ROM folders directly over your existing ones in your install directory - But I'd recommend making a backup via copy/paste first.

I followed all the steps and I can't get the the HD basic pack to load at all. It's failing to load the overlay for basic.
Have you zoned? It won't update until you zone.
@@Ashenbubs Yes, I've zoned. I finally got XIpivot to show that its loaded with no errors but yet nothing has changed for me. After downloading Basic pack I wasn't prompted to extract the files. After doing that and putting the folder into the dats folder it loads but nothing has changed. Seems like XIpivot is the issue. I even downloaded your font pack and pivot wont load that also. If I override it in the rom folder for the game it works fine.
It's too bad this isn't compatible with the job master star dat from Jeanpaul. I installed the job master star dat file and the game crashes instantly when my character loads into Bastok.
That pack will crash your game unless it’s the had an update from January. FFXI added new icons to the game in that update and some other mods have not updated their files to reflect this. Causing crashes in starter towns.

Loving the addon! I do experience a problems though, whenever I alt tab out of FFXI and alt tab/click back into FFXI, the game will freeze up, and I have to keep switching windows to try and unfreeze it.
How did you get your 11 to show in the 14 overlay
When I click on the + sign to add in pivot it doesn't do anything.

Yes and no. This pack is 100% all textures whereas that one is far far less. It won’t conflict, there’s just not much point in using both.

It's visually very different - Mine focus' on keeping the aesthetic the same to the original - without replacing textures for real life materials such as wood/plants/stone/brick/etc. Mine will give a sense of familiarity. It's personal prefence though.

Good content. I managed to load it, but I notice my game is not as smooth movement wise, or maybe FPS wise. I'm using Windower with HD-Basic, any tips appreciated.
Turn off MipMapping and supersampling in your settings.
@@Ashenbubs Cool. In Windower Super Sampling is already off. Bump Mapping is off. Mip Mapping is set to None
I'm curious how you got your HP/MP bar there?
go to your file explorer-->find your addon folder for windower--->xivbar folder--->data---->right click edit the "settings" with notepad and change the x/y parameters from 0 depending on your resolution. might have to do it a few times to find the sweet spot.

the only way i can get this to work is by transfering the files directly into my main installation folder, however by doing this some of the items i was carrying were blacked out so i couldnt even know what items they were, had to recover my original files through steam

You can indeed! Same steps should all apply but you'd have to be using WIndower/Ashita rather than the normal boot mod - Google FFXI Windower/Ashita for more information on that though! :)

download it from playonline. make sure you get the right region, USA Europe or Japan.

If the + doesn't do anything, it sounds like you may have not extracted the .rar file into a folder - Your folder path should look like: Windower/addons/XIpivot/data/DATs/AshenbubsHD-Basic/ROM (all 10 folders, ROM, ROM2, ROM3, ROM4, etc should be here with ROM)

For some reason it wont load the textures even after zoning multiple times.
There is currently an issue with a new version of XIpivot released by the developer - For now, use version 3.1 which you can find here:

ATTENTION TO ANYONE WATCHING: This video is irrelevant to Ashita users, it does not function the way the video describes and this pack is no longer compatible with current versions of xipivot, so don't bother wasting your time with this, just use Reshade.
Any idea why this would work using a TV with HDMi cord from laptop, but does not work on the laptop monitor by itself?

A lot of us are not programmers, so we need baby steps to get this installed. Great job on the mod, but definitely make a better tutorial, cause that tutorial is more for people that know what they're doing. A lot of us are not computer programmers =D
so heres my consensus on the pack if your not using reshade this does make the game look better, if your using reshade with levels, clarity, lumasharpen, vibrance. it will get you near the same effect without the whole download and the colors will pop slightly more. cause i honestly see no diff in escha ruann between my 2 chars. one with it on and other with it off.
k after some looking in diff zones its slight changes to the grounds / world giving it a zelda pastel look. atleast when comparing the wood planks in norg. also looks like you made certain walls downgraded with less bricks as well as made them bump out more compared to the original.
I would kill for a font outside of the default, which just looks like broken PS2 letters

Extremely Small even at full screen. Text was very hard to read
