Hello Guido Interessting question. I would choose my Sigma 28-200mm f3.5 to 5.6 with my old Nikon D50, It is not so sharp as my 70-300mm but it is good enough. Looking forward what you think about the f4 version of the 40-150 :-). Grt Ernesto
@siofna9709 that is a nice focal range. It's kind of simular to my 12-100 f4 then. Great flexible focal range. You can't use what you can't take with you is what I always say... thanks for watching get guido
to be honest im mainly a nature /wildlife photographer, but if i didnt have the 150 -400 i would choose, the 40 -150 f2.8 every time with the converter 1.4 it makes an even better for me ..i love your u tubes.. would love to be able to make the landscapes you do... my only wide lens is the 8 -25 , a strange lens but great for me i found the 7-14 too wide ..
I've also seen good stories about the 40-150 icm with the 2.0 converter but haven't tried it myself. The 150-400 is great, but honestly, the 100-400 is a great budget super zoom. Used it for many years myself. Thank you. I'm happy to see that you like the landscape images. I think the key is get up early 😅 I always feel that I don't do something very special except just having a talent for being at the right place at the right time. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
The 40-150 2.8 has been my favorite and longest owned Olympus lens. I have used both teleconverters with it and the results were fantastic. I've shared photo's where people thought for sure I was shooting full frame.
The first lens I bought for the m43 system was the 12-40f2.8, but then I bought this one after it. I owned that whole 4/3 kit and took me some time to switch to the m43 versions. I do own both the converters but never used them on this lens. I will give it a go. Somehow, people think that you can only take good pictures with a full frame camera... I think we all know that it's not the case 😅 thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
...and with the MC14 - brillient. Came back form Costa Rica with many shots perfect pictures with birds near and far and also macro shots of frogs, snakes and other things - love it
Perfect lens for me. Closeups, Portraits, Landscape, big Insects, in the Zoo.. whatever. This is the Lens. Even with the MC-20 or with extension Tubes. This lens delivers. Perfect Sharpnes wide open. And with my new OM-1 it got even better. Not to forget, i owned Nikon DX and FX, owned Fuji with good Lenses. None of them delivered the Olympus / OM System Lenses do. I also own 12-40 2.8 Pro II, 1.2 25 Pro, 60 Macro and all of them deliver great image quality regardless wich F-Stop used. I love this System .
Couldn't agree more. You have a great kit there and kind of simular to what I have used for a long time. Eventually added the 100-400 and the 7-14 but these have been replaced by other but the kit you have still remains on everyone of my tips also. Thanks for watchibg and sharing your comment! Grt guido
The 40-150mm f/2.8 is my favorite lens by far, which I almost always use handheld without the tripod collar (but with the cover for the collar posts). I love the manual clutch, the internal focusing (especially for close focusing), the Ingenious hood, and the fine sharpness. It’s a fantastic and versatile lens!
I almost never use it handheld but I'm sure it can do it. But because I have to film everything I do it gets a bit hard with only one hand on the camera haha. Used the f4 yesterday for the first time and I was immediately frustrated when I want to use the manual focus clutch. Very frustrating and almost missed a shot because of it. But you will see it in a few weeks. Thanks for watchibg and sharing your experience! Grt guido
Had my 40-150 f.8 Pro and MC-14 converter for over 7 years - very tough! Mine has stood up to hundreds of hours in the rain, saltwater splashes, mud and sand - still producing razor sharp images and ultra fast AF performance. One of the best lenses ever made - fast aperture, close focus, great zoom range, matching teleconverter - one of the great reasons to use Micro 4/3!
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for watching and sharing your experience with this lens. It's funny because sometimes people doubt the weather sealing. I sometimes just flush the camera underneath the tap water to clean it from dirt and salt. And often, the 40-150 or 12-40 is attached. No harm at all just a shiny camera 😅 appreciate your comment. Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater Definitely have to wash down after saltwater - my E-M1 body tripod mount has corroded a bit because sometimes I forget to give that a clean out for a few weeks!
I have both the F4 and F2.8 40-150 lenses and I have to thank you for showing how good the 2.8 is good for landscapes. Some of my favourite photos in Iceland and Italy this year have been taken with this lens but the F4 is preferable when travelling I also love the 2.8 lens for action photos of our dogs Some walks we go on it’s never changed for another lens it really is so versatile :)
I've been using the f4 over the past 2 days and I'm actually surprised of how different these lenses are. I would say they speak to a whole different group of photographers. The f4 isn't bad. It's just very different... but you will see it soon. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
Great review! I and my brother already bought 40-150 f2.8 lens to pair with our Lumix GX9. At first I was hesitant because this lens is big and heavy but in fact it is worth the trade-off for the best image quality. The image quality and sharpness are beyond my expectations. And we know what we need, we used the pana 45-150mm kit lens before and used that lens 99% of the time. So the 40-150 f.28 lens will definitely stick with my camera 99.99% of the time.
That lens is so amazing! I totally imagine that you would glue it to the camera haha. But I have to say that I was quite surprised with the results of the f4. I hope younwill take many great images with ypur camera. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
I have both the f4 and f2.8 version of the lens. I use the f4 a lot for landscape photography (basically daily) because it it so compact. I have the mini messenger bag and the 12-40mm f2.8 and the 40-150mm attached to my OM-5 fit snug into it. Very small package with a lot of possibilities. So, for that the f4 is brilliant. But if I had to choose it would be the f2.8 without a second thought. I know when it was released a lot of people said that the f4 has similar image quality as the f2.8 but that is not true. Bokeh on the f4 can be harsh at times, the f2.8 never is. The f2.8 is sharper at f2.8 than the f4 at f4. The f2.8 has a much more natural image output. And like you I dropped the f2.8 and it just keeps working.
I was out for the first time with the f4 this morning. It's a great lens but totally different then the f2.8. On the back of the camera the images looked great quality wise but it's. The usability that raised some questions for me. I know noticed how much I love my manual focus clutch and tripod collar for portrait shots. I think they both have other users. Theb2.8 is for the serious photographers that go out specifically for phoyograohy. The f4 is more like, I'm going to the zoo and this is a great small lens to take along. But maybe my mind will change if I use it longer but this is my first impression... thanks for watchibg grt guido
Many lenses in my life came and went. But this one is in my Kit since I bought it after release and it still looks brand new. Even the sun hood still works flawlessly. The Olympus Pro lenses are worth every penny 👍👍
Guess we are some of the lucky once that didn't have exploding sunhoods, haha. But I totally agree that it is worth every penny they ask for it. Amazing quality glass in all of them. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
I have many tens of thousands of motorsports shots on my 40-150Pro 2.8, mostly with the MC14. The hood did have the problem where screws came out and it quit working, and I just bought a new hood. But if I could only bring one lens on a trip it would be the 12-40Pro 2.8. I am not as skilled in choosing narrow angle shots. If I had to take only one lens for a vacation I would probably buy the 12-100.
That 12-40 2.8 is also amazing! I was planning on making a video about my experience with that lens also. I can see that the 40-150 with converter can be perfect for motorsports photography. Thanks for sharing your experience. Appreciate it. Grt guido
I took the 12-40 f2.8 and 40-150 f2.8 to Lake Brienz and Lauterbrunnen. We hike a lot. I used the 40-150 about 60 to 70 % of the time, so even in the mountains. Why did I decide for this lens: it has internal zoom! Knocking the tip of external zoom when it is extracted will damage or at least have a detrimental effect on its lifetime. For shots at golden hour and portraits f2.8 can’t be beaten.
I think you're right about the durability of the f4. I also prefer internal zoom lenses. That's the only reason why the 150-400 is so ridiculously good. A lens with that focal range completely internal is just amazing. I would never buy the 150-600 for that reason. Even in golden hours, I rarely shoot at 2.8 unless I have no tripod. Handheld, there is no other choice. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I just answered to your mail btw. Grt guido
I really enjoy your vlogs and appreciate your sincerity. I also have many Oly lenses and my favourite all rounder is also the 40-150 f2.8, it’s sharp and very effective with the 1.4 converter. The f4 version is great for travel and is considerably lighter, but is a compromise when it comes to overall quality.
I've been using the f4 for the first time this morning, and I'm surprised by the image quality. On the back of the screen, everything appears to be pin sharp. But in therms of usability I agree that this lens is a compromise. I really miss the manual focus clutch and the tripod collar. You will see a video about this in a couple of weeks. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! Grt guido
I would probably bring this lens! Don’t forget the excellent close focus ability of this lens! Add MC-20 and you are almost in macro territory! Keep up your great work! Cheers!
I was just realising that when I bought this lens for 1100 euro, it came with an em-1 ( 380 clicks ) and the 1.4 converter! I just realised I got that in the same deal. It was an absolute bargain. It's almost feal like I stole it from the guy, haha. I own both the converters but never used them on the 40-150, but that is purely because I switch to the bigger zooms then. But if you want to travel light that is a great option! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
Love your Images. Good work. know what you mean when talking about the 40-150. People say about the 12-100 as being a one lens set up. But you could live with just the 40-150 and be more than happy with your lot. Its a different camera with or without the teleconverters on. I have an old 50-200 Olympus as well which I love the compression on and I get it out of the bag at times. Olympus made some great lenses.
Ow I love that 50-200 that you have! I used it for many years and took some amazing images with it. Eventually I wanted to downsize and so I traded it for this 40-150 f2.8. I just hope that someday they will make a beast like that old 50-200.will be made for micro for thirds. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
New to your channel, was searching info about this lens, as I am saving up it.....ended up enjoying your review,....you've earned yourself a new subscriber.....👍
Welcome to the channel. I'm always trying to show my experience with a lens and not go into all those tech details, so I hope you found what you were looking for in the video. It will be a great purchase. I'm sure of that! Where are you from? Thanks for watching grt guido
yes, have been traveling in Chile for 3 months with my Olympus EM1MarkII and the lenses 12-40mm F2.8, and 40-150mm F2.8 and teleconverter, all in a 6L shoulder bag. This is super!
3 months in Chile! Wow, that has been an amazing experience! Would love to visit that southern area once, but I'm afraid it's gonna stay a dream, haha. But it totally gets that it's a perfect lightweight system you took along. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! Grt guidk
At the moment I use a olympus cbg-12 bag. It's really comfortable and has plenty of space. Recently I discovered that it has a bit of damage from being stuck in the bushes. Have to see if I can fix that or else I have to replace it 😒 thanks for watching grt guido
I really like the 40 to 150, sunsets, landscapes it's just great. It can be used with the MC-20 as well. I don't often used the MC-20 with it very often since I got the 300mm. I recently had to send my 12-40mm in for repair and had to use my 7-14 and 40 to 150 instead the 40 to 140 is very versatile, sharp as well.
Totally agree on how versatile and sharp the lens is. I never used it with the converters myself, but I heat lots of great stories about it. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
I also have a ton of lenses.12-50, 8-25 Pro, 12-40 Pro II, 40-150 f2.8 PRO, 100-400 and the 150-600. My two favourites are the 8-25 and the 40-150. Without a doubt, I would not leave home with either. If I had to pick one, it would be the 45-150. I do need wider because I live close to the Rocky Mountain ranges, but the sharpness of the 40-150 2.8 is astounding. Crisp, clear, Little to no diffraction. I have yet to try the F4, though. Cheers
It must be amazing to live close to the rockys and have such a wide range of lenses! I would love to go to the rockys one day. I tested the f4 and there is a video about it comming tomorow. Image quality is outstanding. I think it even equals the 2.8 what really surprised me. But due to usability I still prefer the 2.8 thanks gorgeous watching and sharing your experience i apreciate it! Grt guido
@ I live in Calgary, Alberta and I do hope you get a chance to see all the splendour that are the Rockies. From Banff to Canmore to Jasper there’s so much beauty. Mount Rundle, Three Sisters, Mount Columbia and so many more peaks are amazing to photograph at different times of the year. I look forward to watching your review of the f4. Take care and thank you for these videos.
@blackbears4649 oeh stop teasing me! I hope your not going to say that emerald lake and lake Abraham are also close to you 😅 I'm almost buying a ticket haha. But I don't really like the instagram hotspot locations so are there any unknown places? 😅 grt guido
That is exactly my experience after using the f4 last week. They are both great but both surve a diverent purpose and a diverent group if people. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts here. Grt guido
The 40-150 f2.8 with mc 1.4x as option is my go to lens for tiger and animal photography. The results are spectacular! No other lens including any FF lens comes close in this range (80-300 ff equi) of focal length.
Wow must be amazing to live in an area where you can photograph tigers! Where are yoy from? I'm sure younget great results indeed with that combination! Thanks for watchibg grt guido
It's great that the f/4 lens is less than half the weight (43%) but the internal zoom and compatibility with TCs make the f/2.8 that bit more appealing
I used the f4 for the first time yesterday, and my initial reaction was, "Hmm.. it just doesn't feel great... the usability is just very different. I think both have their right to exist, but they speak tons of different group of users.thabks for watching and sharing your comment. Get guido
I have this lens and am impressed with the sharpness, I do like to use my tripod with it. Great video Guido, thank you. I just ordered the 100-400 F5-6.3 and hope I like it too. I have the 2x teleconverter.
I don't necessarily use the tripod on the 40-150 if there is enough light. Just keep the shutter speed up high enough rp 1/100s or something. The 100-400 isngreat is used it on so many occasions. There are some videos from Denmark about 2 months ago where I only used that lens. If i didn't have the 150-400 on loan then it would still be in my bag. Once the loan is over I will probably put it back imminently. Hope / I'm sure you will enjoy it! Thanks for watchibg and the comment. Grt guido
Haha I bet you that it can do that indeed! This thing is built like a tank. Wouldn't try it on the glass or sunhood but the rest is rock solid. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
It's absolutely worth investing in and I'm sure you can find them second hand. I found an absolute bargain on this one. It actualy feld like steeling haha. Thanks for watching and the comment! Grt guido
My experience mirrors you were on very closely. I also put a plate on the tripod foot. I did break my lens hood internally. It wouldn’t lock in place anymore. I spent the exorbitant amount. Olympus wanted for replacement and I’m glad I did.
That lens hood is so expansive indeed but it works really nice. I've been using the f4 n for the first time this morning and immediately ran into some frustration. The manual focus clutch missing is a big issue for me. Quick switch to MF just isn't possible and I miss the stability of the tripod collar on the 2.8. Image quality looks nice but usability js a big thing for me. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
I'm happy to see that you liked the video! I'm not the tech guy that goes into all the details. I just want to show my experience because i likenthose videos better myself. Where are you from? Thanks for watching. Grt guido
I have both 40-150 Pros, and I have to say since I’ve owned the f/4, the f/2.8 has stayed on the shelf. I can assure you that the f/4 is extremely rugged. So is the 2.8, apart from the self-exploding lens hood. Of course the 2.8 takes TCs, the 4.0 does not. But all the 4.0 Pro zooms are fabulous.
I'm deffinitly going to test it. It does save a lot of space and weight. Maybe it suits what I use it for. Would be a great go to kit for lightweight trips. 8-25, 40-150 f4 and 150-400 ( although the last is quite heavy ). Would love to test that set on some uphill hikes in your country. Who knows I still have a valid vingnet on my car haha. Thanks again for the support and purchasing the calendar! Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater well next time you’re passing through let me know. There are a few nice spots here (in Ticino) I can show you. And even places you can park the kids for a few hours ;-)
I'll try to remember. Time is usually my biggest enemy and only having one car 😅 but who knows, maybe I will go there again. I just love your country every time I vist and I've only seen a very small part. It is a bit expensive do 😅 grt guido
Well it's not my f4 but I'm really interested in it. I've had a lot of recommendations on this channel for it. But I've always had the feeling that I would never didge my f2.8. But let's find out... thanks for watching and your kind words I appreciate it! Grt guido
Grt guido
If I could take only one lens for landscape, then the 12-40 f/2.8. That being said, I might take the 12-45 f/4. I love its small size and close focusing distance. The 40-150 f/4 is a terrific lens. Good price, light weight, great quality images. Pairs really well with the OM-5. If I had take only one lens and glue it to my OM-5, it would be the 20mm f/1.4.
Interesting choice to go for the prime lens! Somehow there are two groups of people. Youngsters love a prime or you hate it. As youn watch the channel for a long time you probably know that I'm in the haters group. I just love being as flexible as possible. I've never tried the 12-45 f4. Maybe that's one of the next to try when I'm done with the 40-150 f4. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. grt guido
Groet, Ton
Allemaal hele mooie lenzen. Grt guido
Just found your chanel. Great videos about the system. I'm looking to buy this lense. To take pictures of my youngest at football (EU). I know its not the most common use😁. My kit is all Panasonic. But for the best auto-focus cenario i'm looking to get a budget/2nd hand/refurbish Olympus body. In your opinion what should I aim for? The older OM-D 1 Matk II, Mark III, M1-X, the new OM 5 or the OM1 realy makes a huge diference?. Thank you for your time.
It's a great lens that you would diffibitly not regret buying. For sport I recommend the fastest possible with great auto focus. Depending on the budget what in should do. The em1mk3 and the em1x are kind of simular looking at what they can. The em1x is fantastic it's a beast of a camera only a bit bigger due to the grip. The om-1 is just all a bit faster and better software for operating. Personally I would go for the om-1 but you van get an em1x for a bargain these days. I would not go for the om-5 or em1mkII. Thanks for watching the video I hope you will make a good decision! Grt guido
I love the 40-150 f/2.8! I do use it with teleconverters, but I find that the bokeh gets -- nervous -- when you use them. I'm on my 3rd lens hood, and they're kind of expensive. Supposedly the lens hood from the 100-400 will fit (and wouldn't fall apart), but I haven't been able to buy one because they're always out of stock.
I've heard more stories about exploding lens hoods. I have the 100-400, so i will try if it fits. But I have to say that the 100-400 lens hood did break with mine, haha. The locking mechanism doesn't work anymore. It still fits the lens, but it can easily fall off. But I've never seen that with anyone else. But when I'm back home in a few days, I'm going to try that. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
I'm still fairly new to photography. Got a OM5 two months ago for 1000€ new from OM with the 12-45 f4, 45mm 1.8 and 3 batteries. I then found the 40-150 2.8 with the MC14 for 550€ used and it's now my main lense. I use it for landscape, local animals that aren't shy and even some street. Love this lens. The only thing I changed was the lens hood. I got the one from the 100-400 and it fits perfectly on the 40-150, i did not like the original lens hood. I also got the 20mm 1.4 but I haven't tried it yet much
That sounds like 2 great deals! The 20mm 1.4 should be an amazing lens but I've never used it myself. I'm not really keen in prime photography. We're are you from? Thnx for watchibg and your comment! Grt guido
@GuidoVanDeWater Im from germany. Lots of nice forests near my place to do some landscape photography. The OM5 did very well so far while hiking, even in heavy rain
Yeah you don't have to worrie about weather sealing with om system cameras! I sometimes put it under floating water to clean it 😅 inlive very close to the German border but somehow Germany is giant dark spot on my map so if you have any suggestions haha. My plan is to visit it more in the near future so who knows. Kind of explored all the nature reserves on this side of the brother so now I'm going to cross it every now and then 😅
@GuidoVanDeWater The black forest is very nice. Also, the bavarian alps and franconian switzerland are worth a visit for photography. We have some nice hiking trails and good nature reserves.
I use the 12-40 2.8 pro the 40-150 2.8 pro a 25 2.8 pro and a 100-400 and i am covered pretty well if I need more reach i use a 2x Tele converter . They are incredible lenses .
I walked around with that combination for a long time. Except the 25 that's the 7-14 for me. Did you ever use the converter on the 100-400? That thibg already has amazing reach 🙂 thanks for watchibg and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater yes i did use the converter when i shot Australian rules football every Saturday for 3 years and i used it on the 40-150 f2.8 pro on the om-1 and the omd-em1x .
Hello Guido, you very quickly waved the 40-150 f4.0 Pro around and I was not certain whether the front element rotated when the lens is zoomed. With the f2.8 version the front does not rotate and this is very important to me for action photography where I am using a CP or a variable neutral density and don't want the light to change. Can you tell us, either here or when you talk about the f4.0 version, about this characteristic please?
You have to turn the lens to activate it. Once the lens is active, the rest of the zoom is internal, and nothing rotates on the lens. I've tried the f4 for a week now and my conclusion is that if you want o do action photography then the 2.8 is the better choice. Thanks for watching and your comment. Grt guido
So, one question I have. You said it has no internal stabilization and k get that, but how bad is it if I photograph out of my hand? Do i defenetely need a tripod if I go for landscape photos or is it perfectly usable with sharp photos when i just „shoot around“? Best regards 😄
I just d around lots of times. If you just keep the shutter speed up then there us not an issue at all. I mainly use the tripod because I also want to show what I'm doing on yourube and I can't hold the camera and the video camera at once. But in most cases the stabilisation is so good that you can easily take images handheld up to 0.5 or even 1 second shutter speed. Thanks for watchibg grt guido
@ thank you for the reply! I’m really looking forward to getting myself my first proper Kamera system and Olympus is my choice. Greetings from Germany :)
Another difference as you say later between the F4 40-150 and the 2.8 is that the 2.8 doesn't trombone, so length isn't so much, plus you can lose some weight by removing the tripod collar. Its hard to put a finger on it, but the F4 just doesn't seem to be in the same class.
That's exactly how I feel. It's a great lens, but it's a totally different category. I used it this morning for the first time, and I feel like mwa... image quality is excellent, but it just doesn't feel that good... thanks for watching grt guido
Hi Guido, just maybe odd question I have. Under wich category do you upload your videos? Can't find any like photography or something. So I upload under People and blogs. Thank you
I've tried all different categories and did lots of research. My conclusion was that it doesn't give a damn... some people state that some category get higher add values because company's pay more for these categories. For that reason I use the educational category now. But if that makes any difference I have no idea. Not that I noticed... where are you from? Thanks for watching grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater I live in the Netherlands down in city of Roermond, but I am from Slovakia originally. Thank you for your response, I was thinking it doesn't care😅, so far I did for people's and blogs, will try education or entertainment next, will see
Ah nice who knows maybe we will bump into eachother one day. Still planning to visit the mijnweg someday that's close to roermond. How long do you live in the netherlands? Grt guido
The 40-150f4 is a great lens, I think you’ll like it. Very sharp too, and so much smaller. For landscape one rarely shoots at f2.8 anyway. If I could pick only one, it’d be the 12-100 though. It’s such a wide range, very sharp, and stabilised
Thanks for watching. See you in a few weeks! Grt guido
The 2.8 is twice as heavy as the 4.0 and also a lot more expensive. I don't think the 4.0 feels less valuable, just lighter. But the higher light intensity can of course be an advantage. The lower weight is more important to me. But of course everyone has to decide for themselves.
I've been using the f4 for the last few days, and it's actually quite difficult to compare the 2 lenses. They both have a totally different target group of photographers. Yes, the fr is lightweight and razor sharp. But I really miss that manual focus clutch. They have the same focal range but are totally different. If you want to travel lightweight, then the f4 is a great option. If you can handle the few grams extra, then I would go for the f2.8 any day. But like you say, this is a typical case of everyone having a different opinion. It also depends on what you like to photograph, I guess. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Grt guido
The f4 reflects the Olympus philosophy much better.. smaller lighter. My daughter uses it for concert photography and the results are fantastic at f4. Holding a camera for 3 hours continuously? The f4 wins
I thibk there are two philosophy here... lighter and more portable and they also have the philosophy that the biggest lenses are smaller and more portable witch icm the crop factor allow you to photograph incredible distances. I totally get that for a whole night of photography she prefers the f4. The prime lenses are also great for concerts because of the very low aperture l. Like the 17mm/20mm/45mm and 75mm. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
Good morning - I can save you some time lol. The f4 isn’t going to touch the f2.8. And in my opinion it’s not even going to be about the f numbers. I have the f2.8 and I just can’t fault it. But I’m excited to see your finds in this comparison.
I've been put with the f4 last weekend and I can only agree with you. If you ask me they have a very different group of people that they are made for. The f4 is much more for use while on holiday when you want to travel extremely light. But for professionals or serious photographer the f2.8 is a no brainer. I will never trade that f2.8 for the f4. But you will see the conclusion video soon 😅 thanks for watching grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater Hi Guido, One last thing - I would absolutely love a review on the 8/25 lens you mentioned, as this is a lens I’m thinking of treating myself to this coming Xmas lol.
The 150-400 is often heavyly praised but its just too damn expensive. For the same amount of money you can get a used GFX100s and a 500mm GF lens, a combo that wipes the floor with an m43 setup
I don't think these two systems are aiming for totally different photographers. I personally never want to use a 100mp camera. Way to much data that I'm never going to use. But it's a great camera that's for sure. But wouldn't be my choice. Every photographer has different needs and demands for a camera so we all have to find a system that we are comfortable with. Thanks for watching. Grt guido
Thank you for purchasing the calendar! I really appreciate the support. There is one image from your home country in it. Considering where you are located in totally get the 12-100. I think I would go for that two ( and then sneak the 100-400 in without anyone noticing haha. Thanks again grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater I have to say that the 12-100 + 100-400 is ever so slightly outside of my definition of "light" 🤣 But then again, once I have my "light kit" defined, there's always one last minute additional lens. Just in case. Maybe 2....
@davidmantripp and a extra body and some filters and ah what the heck vlogging camera ow and a headlamp, locket knife, tripod, food, drinks... damn we can never go light it's impossible 😅
Goede vraag hoor.
Olympus maakt idd fantastische lensen altijd gedaan.
Yeah, I kind of get what you're saying here. I always compare them with their full frame equivalents, and then they weight is still acceptable. But that f4 us very small and lightweight! I'm going to test it in the next few weeks. Let's see if I reach the same conclusion. Thanks for watching grt guido
I left the 2.8 at home for a trip this weekend, so I hope you're wrong here, but I'm afraid you're right 😅 thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
QUESTION : What lens would you take if you had to choose only one for your landscape photography trip?
Hello Guido
Interessting question.
Grt guido
Oly 12-100 Pro. Definitely, If there can be only one.
Came back form Costa Rica with many shots perfect pictures with birds near and far and also macro shots of frogs, snakes and other things - love it
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. I can only agree with it 🙂 grt guido
Grt guido
I love my 40-150 2.8 with or without the 1.4x teleconverter. Such a great lens!
I can only agree on that! Thanks for watching and the comment.
Grt guido
I did get the teleconverter too! It is a joy to use. I don't think you lose any details.
Do you use the 1.4 or 2.0? With the 1.4 8 didn't notice detail loss either. Thabks for watching and your comment. Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater I use the 2😊
I took the 12-40 f2.8 and 40-150 f2.8 to Lake Brienz and Lauterbrunnen.
Grt guidk
What bag do you use?
😅 grt guido
I own both, and they have their own purposes, and f4 also gives brilliant quality.
@GuidoVanDeWater India. 55 tiger parks but 10 r amazing. We can get as close as 3-5ft as it walks by us..
Grt guido

Great video. This will be a must have in my bag.

Grt guido

I hope I can make a decent video of the comparison. Happy to see you liked this one. Thanks for watchibg grt guido
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. grt guido
Hi Guido,
Groet,
Ton
Thank you for your response, I was thinking it doesn't care😅, so far I did for people's and blogs, will try education or entertainment next, will see
@@GuidoVanDeWater amd thank you for your subscription, it means a lot!
Ah nice who knows maybe we will bump into eachother one day. Still planning to visit the mijnweg someday that's close to roermond. How long do you live in the netherlands? Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater yeah, would be great, just let me know. I know a few roads around mainweg, spending there quite a lot of time.
10 years.
Let me hope that on this trip through ZIM this 40-150 mm will serve me well !
Do you have a new one? Yours was stolen, right? Hope your trip will be better than the last one!
My absolute pleasure - your content is outstanding and has helped me massively with my photography.
@davidbeck1696 thank you happy that you like the channel! Grt guido
Grt guido
Oh, and if I could take just one lens? The 12-100, no question.
Grt guido
Hoi Guido
Olympus maakt idd fantastische lensen altijd gedaan.
Very nice insights. 👍🙂 For me Nikon Z 24-120 mm. Cover the most I need
That's kind of similar to my 12-40 or 12-100 sound like a great focal range. Thanks for watching. Grt guido
I’m a happy man.
I can go out with OM1mkll+40-150 on one shoulder and Z8+24-120 on the other 👍 I have them both ❤❤❤❤
Sounds like a great set you have there! Thanks for watching grt guido
Yeah, I kind of get what you're saying here. I always compare them with their full frame equivalents, and then they weight is still acceptable. But that f4 us very small and lightweight! I'm going to test it in the next few weeks. Let's see if I reach the same conclusion. Thanks for watching grt guido
40-150f4 you will miss your f2.8 555 for sure😅
I left the 2.8 at home for a trip this weekend, so I hope you're wrong here, but I'm afraid you're right 😅 thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
