    QUESTION : Do you struggle with setting up your camera?

      I have just bought the om-1 mk2 and the om zuiko 150-600mm lens just trying to get to grips with it haveing come from Panasonic g9m2 camera thanks for a great video you should do a download link for your setting thanks

      @GuidoVanDeWater  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ZOly62 thanks for watching. I've made a video of the only time that I used this lens. th-cam.com/video/-heu6cAZUQk/w-d-xo.html maybe that will help. Quality is fantastic with good sharp images and great stabilisation. I just didn't find it the best lens ergonomically. It's quite big and heavy but if you are thinking about using only lens on a trip for birds and wildlife then this is great. I like to be very flexible and that's why i personally gondor something smaller. Grt guido

    Thank you for making this video. I got an OM1 mkii for Christmas and it’s my first ‘real’ camera moving on from a Nikon bridge camera. Your in depth explanations have really helped in what will be a steep learning curve. I mainly photograph birds at the moment but some of your landscape shots are quite inspirational.

But don't hesitate to contact me if you want to know something. If I can help then I will try. Where are you from? Grt guido

      @ I’m in the Uk. I have been spoiled by the fantastic zoom on my p950 so I have the Olympus 100-400 because I wanted the reach and am waiting for delivery of a used Olympus 40-150 f4-5.6 R because it seems a budget friendly way to explore that focal range. Thanks for your offer of assistance. I’ll check out the other videos.

    One of the other things I love about this camera is you can reassign all the buttons in the OM app. You can instantly alter everything to suit wildlife, portrait or landscape etc. of course you then have to remember what all the buttons do 😀

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it's best to keep the button layout the same for myself. In situations where you need to handle quickly, you don't want to think where that is. The key ingredient is being one with the camera. Knowing exactly where everything is without looking at it. Thanks for watching and your support I appreciate it. Grt guido

    Thanks for an interesting video 👍 As you said yourself, it is very personal. Whenever I upgrade my camera I always start with the fabric's settings. After some time I start to customise it. For different main purposes I always customise the C-options. It is easy to change the basic setting once you select the wanted C-option. It is very seldom that I can use the basic settings. Of course, most buttons on the body are customised.
    The best advice is always to look up and download the more advanced manual in PDF format. To easily access it, create a shortcut on the start page on your mobile.

      I'm the kind of guy that never reads the manual until he really can't figure it out anymore, and yourube doesn't help, haha. Never looked in the manual of a camera myself, but it is a very useful tip if you like to read the manual. I think i always do the same approach as you. Start photographing first and then look at the changes along the way. But I always seem to end up a bit the same with all the olympus cameras. Thanks for watching and your comment. Grt guido

    • @dennismwallentin296
      @dennismwallentin296 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GuidoVanDeWater The advantage of reading the manual, compared with other options such as TH-cam et al, is that somebody else than the authors have reviewed it before publishing. I can be surprised by all the clickbait titles here on TH-cam about revealing "secrets" settings. They don't exit as they can be found in the manual 😁

    Another great video. It is interesting to see how each photographer sets their camera up. Lee Hoy definitely has his way of using his OM-1 mainly because he is a Birder. Emilie Talpin has different settings mainly because she does macro. What I find impressive about the OM Systems cameras is all the customization the computational features and how it adds so much to the experience not to mention the biggest feature light weight bodies and lenses. Exceptional IBIS etc etc.

      You can literally change every button to what you want it to be and that is an amazing feauture. The camera is adjustable to everyone's wishes and forms of photography. I totally agree with you it's just a great system with far to little recognition. But I always warn people. Once you try it you buy it. Thanks for watching grt guido

    Thank you! Now I think I understand how to program C mode. I have AI-detection for dogs on the top button to the right on the lens in front and face detecton the lower button on my OM1 mk 1. On thr OM1 mkll I have set dog detect on the same button and the lover button to gradual ND filter. ND filter is programed to the top exposure button and high res mode to the red record button, iso is set to HDR and the Lnf button on the lens i set to digital 2 time converter. Focus clutch is set to off, instead I use C+MF to adjust focus. I use the super control panel a lot to change the settings, for example aperture, shuttersped and iso, stabilisation, flash and more and now I will set up the C modes! 😊👍

For custom menus, I make it the same as on my Nikon. 1 for Landscape 2 for Wildlife/Birds 3 for Special...like Black/White photography for streets and architecture. Btw...I received my cashback. I asked myself "do I really need to do it regular?". The sweet answer I came to was, not at all. Given the price/storage for SD cards I use a 128 GB card on my OM-5. It gives enough space to not do it on a regular basis. But if I was a pro I would be thinking differently.

Grt guido

If you want you custom modes to be full manual then make sure to save them in manual mode. If you any want appetite priority the make sure to save the custom modes in the A position. Hope this helps. Hello, i know this is not a question about landscape, but it is about the om1 mark ii AF features. Is there a way to limit the area of the frame where the AF should look for a face? For example if my subject is ina room full of people, most of them at the same distance. But my subject is at the left of the frame. Can I specify an area at the left of the frame so the camera only search for a face in that area and ignores the rest of the frame?

      Hello, you can usenthe joystick on the back to move your focusing area. When you see the field with squares you can turn the back dial of the camera and then you can make the focus area smaller or bigger. If you make it smaller and move it more to the position the person is in it should focus there. Hope this helps. Happy holidays! Grt guido
