    "HAIL TO THE KING, BABY"- Duke Nukem. Wow, man, that reference brought back so many great memories!! Thank you for that, and thanks for the great tips! I am looking forward to integrating these. I have turned into an 8am guy, and I desperately need to change that, haha

      Kinda sad you actually commented about Duke Nukem just cause he said something about it for 5 seconds. Simp.

      You got it man. Push yourself. There were days I had to literally roll my ass out of bed, onto the floor, and crawl out of my room. There is a 500 lb fat man inside of me, so if I can tame him, so can you

    I have journaled for the last four years. I have got at least 600 pages under my belt. I did exercises from books, specifically Nedra Tawwab’s books. I also used School of Life’s Know Yourself cards.
    Journaling helps, let it all out on paper. The clarity will come.

    Journaling has been a game changer for me in the last few weeks. I started off with all the journal prompts in your Men's Work book (that has been a part of what I see now as a sacred morning routine) but now I'm just writing down anything that comes to mind and its so damn helpful. I can't tell you how grateful I am with all these prompts and amazing content that you put out. It's given me so much meaning to my life.

    Thanks for this Connor, love hearing your stuff. Well said, "take what works for you, leave what doesn't".
    Some of my favorite is the stream of consciousness journaling. I'll dedicate a spiral notebook just for that!

    Great video, really appreciate this one. If you wouldnt mind answering a couple questions, I'd appreciate it!
    1) When in your routine do you eat breakfast? Or do you fast and not eat breakfast?
    2) If you're waking up at 6am, what time are you going to sleep at?

    • @ManTalks
      @ManTalks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Usually fast 5-6 days a week. Dont eat until 1130/12 depending on my day and schedule. And I usually go to bed around 10:30/11

    Love that you made connection both a numbered point, and something that can be an add to the others, too. Connection is a way to start your day winning, definitely.
    For me, I get my connection via a morning cuppa at a cafe. Friendly chats with the community fills me up with goodness.

    Good stuff. I’ve been trying to figure out how to have consistency in this with working 24 hours shifts and the exhaustion that comes with that.

    I am dealing with this and have been for ten years. The never ending judgements and criticisms and when you give into it the goal posts move or when they ( kids ) met the request; the request changes as he suddenly decides it’s not good enough. I realize he doesn’t want resolve. Nobody will ever meet his unreasonable expectations that often change once you reach it. His extreme DA attachment style ( he leans FA) he has been diagnosed with runs his life. I’m focusing on positivity; being grateful and having gratitude. Life is a gift 🎁 and I can’t connect in this way anymore. What I have recently come to understand is the attachment style is so extreme that it’s I think it may be more than the attachment style alone. I now believe this could be a personality disorder. I no longer jump; agree; or conform to his every whim and desires. I just want peace and joy and there are so many things that just don’t need to be focused on. Their father did this and raged on them 95% of the time. I left and eventually found myself with another. ( he doesn’t rage ) but his constant judgements are draining. I stopped absorbing it; choosing my own opinions on things and that it’s okay if I feel differently about a situation or incident. Sometimes I don’t see things as a situation or an issue but he makes several life stuff as problems or issues. Sad thing is he feels he’s good and doesn’t need therapy anymore ( I asked him to go and was very insistent) yet I can see he doesn’t go past a certain point. He’s not willing to do the deep work. I truly enjoy and am grateful for therapy and I can’t imagine not going. I’m highly empathic and he isn’t very at all. We are two totally different people. He’s not the person he showed up as for first 2.5 years. 5 years in found out who he is and so many betrayals and secrets ; hidden addictions and lies. At his age I don’t believe he will change much in the way of connection with others and feeling joy. I’ve started getting connections with my friends; and my children. My bf gives no one empathy. Our couples therapist said I’m paying the bill for his last relationships and his childhood.
    I don’t want to dismiss him and become what he is but I don’t agree with many of his judgements and criticisms and I have been through a lot and I don’t want to sweat the small things and enjoy life and I’m grateful. ☺️
    Any advice on how to handle his criticisms and requests that won’t matter or change much? I find he does things; to make himself be right. Like he sets my child up so my bf will be right. He’s only accepting of them if the are doing what he believes or deems acceptable in life. Funny because what he did behind my back was not exactly upstanding or valued or respectful. He may treat me well now but not my son. Which isn’t acceptable and I don’t allow it. It’s an underlying battle. I’ve even responded with simple; clear responses such as I disagree; or I don’t see it that way ; or I’m going to be the mom I want to be. Funny how I gave him huge amounts of grace and understanding yet he can’t give in return to my son.

    Ugh, journaling. I’m glad you said how much of a grind it was in the beginning. I’m sporadically grinding. 😂

    Thanks for putting this together, Connor. I've been a fan of the podcast for a while, but the stuff you've been putting out lately has been especially good.
    One question, though: about how long does this morning routine normally take you?

    • @ManTalks
      @ManTalks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, thanks for tuning in. If you include my workout, the routine takes about 2 hours. Just depends on how long of a workout I get in.
