Even though it was done for humorous intent, there is something oddly heartwarming about Dracula going "Screw it. I'm sick of constantly being at war against you guys. Let's team up and kick some ass together instead!"
I love how at the end it looks like a cutscene shows the character select screen having characters added to it and you just sit there waiting for the cutscene to end only to realize that, no, the game ACTUALLY took you to the character select screen. It's wild just how much fun Luca had with making this game. You can tell with every little update.
Honestly, it makes perfect sense in this game for the Grim Reaper to be the final boss, hehehe NOOOO, NOT THE DIRECTER! HE WAS COOL ACTUALLY! The fact you collect his masks to restore your game functions is honestly fuckin' badass tho.
I love the black disk thing, trying to put a SotN PlayStation disk in a cd player got you that. Edit: After looking into it a bit more, it is almost entirely unchanged. The only thing different is the removal of the word “PlayStation”.
Yes, that took me back int he early days when I was messing around with PS1 discs and extracting XA files and the like, and then came across that one having an actual CD audio track in it and ended up extracting that as well and compressing to an MP3 at the time.
The best part is that you dont even need any levels, you can just rush to the boss and win it, because it is more of an interactive cutscene (not a complain, its lovely!) i certainly did at level 6. As long as you dodge the little scythes and hands.
i can't believe that of all games to create such an emotional and memorable moment that i'll probably think of a decade from now, it's fucking vampire survivors creating icons on its character select here.

Hades says "We're going to need to find a vein for this adrenaline syringe we've got here." and applies it carefully. Vampire Survivors says "We're not gonna prod & probe for a vein, it takes too long, so we're gonna jam the needle directly into your brain AND your heart." x'D
I definitely recommend playing the base game without DLCs first - then you can do the DLCs in whatever order you like. The Ode to Castlevania DLC easily doubles the entire amount of content in the game, containing more characters than the base game itself - so that's why you should do the base game first. Don't worry - there's still plenty of fun secrets and gags like this! And, lore-wise, I suppose you kind of need to understand how the game works and who "the directer" is to really get the significance of the Ode to Castelvania DLC, if you care about that kind of thing?
I swear, I saw Liza I was like "oh cool, a secret character!" then Mina "Err... Two?" Then Rinaldo and like... WTH? Half the DLC's content is a secret?! Edit: in hindsight it's very obvious, there's ALWAYS a secret ending, or an inverted castle.

Man, you can really tell how much they love the IP. I even got a bit emotional during this.
The game was heavily inspired by Castlevania, so makes sense they'd use this DLC as an excuse to nerd out massively.
