I agree with the comment on waxed laces. Wax laces are best closure system - the ability to tighten in some places and loosen in others. Laces are more dependable than buckles.
It's been three years now that I am not able to skate again, and ever since I periodically look up to this video. My favourite inline skating one, so far. You're a skating legend, Bill, and I will always (even if silently) be one of your greatest fans out there. Cheers from Italy.
Just bought a pair of Reign Helios to replace my old Missions mainly because of this video. Been watching PPP for quite some time now and I agree that waxed laces are way better than buckles. Thanks, Bill - you're a huge inspiration!
Really love the look of the new skates. Glad to see you in hockey skates again. Also love the drone shots man they really add to your already great transistions. Great vlog Bill!
I watched your video a few years ago, I admired and studied your cross over technique and stopping. I have used your technique in my ice skating stride, my cross overs have power now. I live in Toronto China town would love to skate with you one day.
Im currently using a pair of seba high lights. The heel lift on my sebas is basically none so they feel very flat and stable. What are these skates like? Does it feel like your heel is really raised up?
vbroskas it’s about the same. I actually have a video which shows a seba Trix and the Kronos skate, perhaps the should give you a guide to what sort of heal lift they have.
Please always do the videos like since the new rollerblades came, i watched all of your videos and actually learned skating basic level on the streets at binghamton ny. Thank u
90 or 100mm wheels? Seems you found the sweet spot. I tested 84mm triskates and it and was hard to maintain speed. Although turns, acceleration, power stops, etc were just amazing. I'll test 90mm this week.
Try the 3x 100mm. It has amazing speed and manoeuvreability. Feels like the 4x80mm( with wayyyy more speed). In my opinion, it's the sweet spot between speed and manoeuvreability.
HAHAHA!!! "Hey, how you doing man? Where's your skates?" Troll level = epic Love the video! I've been thinking about getting a pair of these to skate in Dallas on the weekends with!
Radical 360s! Lightbulb moment! You should land more of them in your recordings while holding the go pro stick so that we can see the world spin from your view point.
I love than you are wearing the Bauer shirt riding on those Powerslide skates. Lol Go Bill. I may never skate as well as you but I’m working it. Thanks for all the tips and examples of how to have fun on inline. I’ve looked at those skates. I’m not quite ready for those yet, but they look awesome.
Love the vids, Bill! After some angst I just pulled the trigger on a pair of trix2 110s. It seems like a good tradeoff between a hockey boot and a cuffed boot. I like how your channel demonstrates that any skate can give a great experience, but I am looking forward to the upgrade.
Another quality Pinto Pony production.....Thanks! Skating backwards through the gate into the rink WHILST controlling the drone overhead filming himself skating backwards through the gate into the rink.
Thanks MP; have to admit that into the rink shot was reversed, first cheat of this kind I've used...will do it backwards for real soon, to make up for the deception!
Hey Bill, thanks for the great video again. I'm particularly interested in this video. I recently came across the Powerslide videos wherein they introduce their Trinity system and it seems really enticing. They noted that all of their testers, across a variety of skill levels and 'blade usage, remarked an across-the-board improvement in their skating. Would you agree with this result? Do you think that this is going to set a new standard and we'll see more companies adopt the Trinity method and that from here on in all 'blades will have this three-mount system? I feel kind of fortunate, I purchased some second-hand 'blades for 40$ a few weeks ago and I've been really looking forward to saving some money up over the winter to buy new 'blades come spring. I was thinking of something exactly like what you have in this video, trinity tri-skate for 100mm or 110mm wheels. I don't think I want a hockey boot for it though. What would you recommend for this kind of frame but for more streetskating/urban transit for the boot? Thanks.
What a nice skates bra, you inspire me to use hockey skates in streets, at beggining it were pretty weird but now i feel my hockey skates better than fsk and improved my skate ability.
I too would like an update. His collection video pointed out the Speciale and Kronos Reign as top of the heap, but with years' more mileage how do the two best skates compare now?
Hi there! First of all, congrats on your channel, videos and skating skills. I'd like to know if you usually keep all the skates that you have. I'm asking because it would be amazing if you could do a review / comparison between 3x110 and 4x80 for example with the falcon f6 4x frame and the flying eagle supersonic 3x frame and then share your thoughts about what's better. Any other similar frames can do too! Thanks in advance!
Can't believe it. I was just wishing hockey boots came attached to 3x110 frames, and voilà, along comes this video. Too bad they're not heat-moldable. I wonder if the big Bauer and CCM will get into this, or if it's strictly a novelty item.
when i saw these new skates yesterday in proskaters place via the website and Bills comments from a post about being psychic....well i guess i should have been a detective. great video bill !! love that drone footage.
Great video, looks like so much fun! I'm curious about the Trinity mounting system, is it something that will... "change the world of inline skating forever"...? It sure looks like a great idea.
Good video Bill! Christmas came earlier this year, it seems that this new skates handle braking better (accurate) than hockey skates. How is the stiffness compared to hockey skates? Is the carbon layout only cosmetics on skates? They really push weigth down if they have it on skates. I would like to see more drill training with these skates. Thanks!
Hi, awesome video!, I'm looking for the Zeus or Triton that are some levels down the Kronos, what do you think it would be better to choose for city skating, the Falcon F6 with 3x110 or some of these? I play inline hockey so I love the freedom this kind of boots provides, thanks!
First off, Bill, you're an awesome skater and I love your channel plus I love to skate. These review videos for are really helpful, keep them coming. I've never been to Toronto but I notice in your videos there aren't a lot of hills. Is Toronto relatively flat? I'm in Pittsburgh and we have steep hills that as a skater I don't want to challenge
I live in a place full of steep hills too, and it's quite challenging, specially as a beginner/intermediate skater. It has slowed down my learning sometimes, but it also has helped push me through my limits a lot. The worse part is how and how fast it messes with your wheels 😓
@pintoponyproductions there were some really epic lines here tearing through the city! How do those new mounting systems feel? I've been looking into new skates or frames and they are very interesting looking.
Those stops always make me nervous, Bill! One for the fact you're sliding on all 6 wheels and two for the wear on the wheels. How often do you find yourself replacing them?
Hey! Your videos are getting better and better. You are even more hilarious and you've got some new and interesting shots (either from the drone or from the gopro) Question: For city skating, which one would you prefer? Seba High, or this ones?the 3 wheelers are fancying me... (if that is even a word)
I know! I wouldn't say that I follow him from the very start, but I do follow him since he had those ripped out Bauer hockey skates, and I had never seen him like that either :D
Big thanks for your encouragement again J! I love the Seba High for concussive stair bashing type stuff. For road and flow skating these new 3 wheeled Hockey skates are the only ones I want to roll in at the moment. I'm really 'fancying' the 3 wheelers lately for city skating.
Love the drone shots mixed in! How durable do you think these will be in the long run if street skating? I love the extra armor on my Seba FR-2's (from Proskatersplace, of course ;) -- I'd be a little worried about burning through an upper when my powerslides aren't quite on point.
I love your videos, the fact that you're willing to show when you trip up is inspirational to me! Makes me glad I'm not the only one that falls. Out of curiosity, how often would you say you skate, on average? A couple times a week? more than that? less than that? How often do you go through skates?
I just took out my cheaper powerslides three x 110s and I was shocked by how terrible I was, and I couldn’t slide with those soft wheels. I’m sticking with my fr1 4 x 80
Hello! another amazing video, as usual! What are your honest thoughts on triskating? Do you think you will stay with triskating for longer, or is it just something to have fun with for a while and then go back to normal (4x80)? My reason for asking is that Im thinking heavily about getting one of them triskates for crusing around town/ getting to work. Thanks, and keep up good work!
its all about personal preference. I'm for example quite the opposite. I grew up with 4 wheels and fully went into triskating. Im still using my endless Frame in a 4 Wheels setup for sometimes to cruising around but the smooth experience on Triskates with Trinity Frames is haven for me.
Are these comparable to a urban skate like a PS hardocre evo or a Next? I was thinking about getting a light boot that provides support for jumps and other city activities. Would you recommend this boot for such activities?
Bill you think the Kronos would be a good skate for someone who is currently using a pair of seba high lights? The heel lift on my sebas is basically none, so the skate feels very flat and stable. I'm worried about the downward angle of these skates. Does it feel unstable with your heels higher than you toes? Thanks!
Hey Bill, great video. I just purchased the Reign Kronos skate and loving them so far. I want to rotate the wheels now so I recently purchased the Sonic Gripz Tool, and it just arrived today. The tool does not seem to fit into the hole, the size is too large to fit. I was expecting this to be a universal measurement that fits all. Should it be fitting? Or is there a certain size tool that I need to rotate the wheels on this skate?
Hey, I noticed the CN tower in the background. Whats thats really nice area at 0.23 seconds? I've been looking for some nice places to skate in the GTA any suggestions? Glad to know you are in the GTA. Must say I like watching the vids, not just informational but also pretty entertaining. :)
What's the deal about Marsblade frames? I just saw a video. The Powerslide Kronos Reign looks great. I'll start saving up...I'm sure they're not inexpensive.
For a while now, I've been thinking about getting a new set of skates to get around town with, and I keep coming back to these Reign Trinity's. What would you recommend for me? I like to get around a town that has infamously poor road surfaces and lots of hills, and I like to go fast as a priority with comfort secondary. I'm quite used to hockey skates, but am unsure as to how wise it is to be hitting 80+ kph on rockered skates. What skate would be fast and controllable in Tacoma Washington? Should I get Reign's or should I look at something else?
hello Bill I currently have the Seba highlights and since I recently broke my frame, Im wanting to upgrade my skates to the 3 wheel frame but not sure if I should do supersonic by flying eagle or the powerslide fsk, megacruiser I believe it's called. what would you recommend me. thank you
Hello Bill, those skates are being sold as rockered skates. Do you skate these rockered or did you change anything on the frame before you went out on the streets? Greetings Paul
Oh man, I want those. Do you think Proskaters Place would take back these crappy Gyro gx7 I bought back in June and put the money towards those hockey skates? Damn I hate these Gyro's. They kill my feet so I rarely use them. So painful.
I’d love to know that too. Are they like Bauer Vapor, or Supreme in foot shape? The lack of a liner and less padding means that foot shape becomes more significant.
@@StillAliveAndKicking_ They fit more like the Supreme foot shape. I ordered the same size I wear in bauer skates and they fit but they were slightly more snug in length by a mm or two. The reigns don't come up your ankle as high as a bauer, which I find more comfortable (reduces lace bite). Use the size guide and measure the length of your foot against a wall a couple times.
@@StillAliveAndKicking_ I wear an 8 in Bauer and ordered a 42 reign. The reign is similar width to the yellow bauer boot but slightly shorter in length. 42 reign just barely fits my foot length.
hi i just bought new par of inline skate I used to drive a motorbike I love bikes so much quick as fuck but I'm hyperactive I need to release more energy instead of sitting on the vehicle to go places, so i got myself a bike cycle and it was good but to big, my dad found me a good scooter and it was perfect until it broke when a bmw ran me over. now i got inline skates and re started skating again after 10 years. I'm no expert i roll and go out and use it for main transportation, when should i change my wheels for fresh new ones, i skate everyday to go see friend, to go work etc... i don't know if this helps but i weigh like 70kg live in london and i have 4 wheels 80mm 85a, k2 inline skates. so when should i buy fresh new to change when my old ones are completely gone, also should i feel an performance change if it is gone etc...?
I changed my wheels when they were approaching the cores (no more rubber) and were significantly smaller. One thing that really helps is rotating your wheels. You can find guides online. Doing this will make the wheels last much longer, and hold better shape for longer so you wont need to change them as often.
I'm not a roller hockey player but can't seem to picture players reducing their contact surfaces from 4 to three and moving their Centre of gravity higher. This seems a performance downgrade. The Powerslide hockey boots look great, but imagine players choosing the trinity 80mm slalom frames over the 100s. Am curious about your thoughts on this. Great vlog entry!
Thanks John! If roller hockey players are playing professional length shifts I could see them staying on the small wheels. However, I find I have more energy, over a longer period of time, to put into stops, carves and sprints because of the speed gains with the big wheels. Maybe on the smaller rinks the advantages would be negated. These are lower than other 100mm setups, due to a genius frame mounting system. Most frames are set up so the wheels are 1-2cm from the sole. The 'trinity frame' means these wheels are like a millimetre away from the sole. Your 'point of contact' concern is a great one, and might compel me to test 'stopping slide length' on 3 vs.4 wheels
PintoPonyProductions Your comment about maintaining momentum with bigger wheels helping engage accurate slides sounds likely, thanks for that thought. I imagine that three wheel setups are going to see greater care required with wheel specification. Perhaps using a slightly softer wheel compound will regain the surface area contact lost when moving from 4 to 3 wheels. There is a lot that can be done to improve wheel technology and the rating of skate wheel compounds... In the end I imagine the body tunes equally well to all these micro changes in equipment.
I agree with the comment on waxed laces. Wax laces are best closure system - the ability to tighten in some places and loosen in others. Laces are more dependable than buckles.
what do you think about this skate shop task? for urban skating?
Laces are great if you're not frequently taking them off, but they were a major PITA when I used them to commute around campus.
It's been three years now that I am not able to skate again, and ever since I periodically look up to this video. My favourite inline skating one, so far. You're a skating legend, Bill, and I will always (even if silently) be one of your greatest fans out there. Cheers from Italy.
Watching this after year, and thinking how good you sold powerslide and trinity to me
I will join your buckle-less revolution, Bill. I feel the same about my Reign Helios skates. Favorite pair of skates, hands down!
I concur. Buckles get in the road all the time too.

Love the video! I've been thinking about getting a pair of these to skate in Dallas on the weekends with!
Loving the short 3-wheel frame. I’m currently skating on FR1 310 and it’s my favourite choice so far.
Just got my pair of kronos super happy. Austin TX
Are there outdoor rollerskating parks in Austin. - San Antonio, tx here

Took me quite long to find it, the song in the beginning is called: Don't Hate Me - Jingle Punks
Love the vids, Bill! After some angst I just pulled the trigger on a pair of trix2 110s. It seems like a good tradeoff between a hockey boot and a cuffed boot. I like how your channel demonstrates that any skate can give a great experience, but I am looking forward to the upgrade.
Looks cool, hopefully they will make a version with buckles/velcro :)
Never seen Bill as agile and fluid than on these skates. Wonder why we don't see more of them? Entertaining video!
Nice skating in a beautiful city!

I won't tell if you won't!
Have you thought about putting together any bloopers? Although.....I'm not sure you'd have many......!!
Bill Stoppard Skating BSS I wonder how many skaters ploughed into the rink gate while trying to repeat that move? I won’t let on ...
Nice intro to the 3-wheeled PS Hockey Skate... Any chance that you could do a vid on the Wizard NR100 Skate from Shop Task?
i love skating so much im watching skating vids from 2016

Hey Bill, what songs are you using for the music in this video? Awesome skates, awesome footage... keep up the good work man!
Amazing tunes! As usual! What is it tho lol!
yea whats that hard sludgy song at the end?
Just bought inline skates today. ^^
Yup, I just got my new 3 wheeled inline skates and they are awesome from day one!
not from day 2?
Fabinator25 Hilarious! It took weeks for some of my skates to break-in perfectly...
What a nice skates bra, you inspire me to use hockey skates in streets, at beggining it were pretty weird but now i feel my hockey skates better than fsk and improved my skate ability.
Can these be used for Roller Hockey? I've never played roller but I just started Ice and love it. These look fantastic though for mobility.
Mr Stoppard, haven't seen you on these in a while now. I'm under the impression you love the Adapt Specialé far too much to look elsewhere?
I too would like an update. His collection video pointed out the Speciale and Kronos Reign as top of the heap, but with years' more mileage how do the two best skates compare now?
R M I’ve had the opportunity to roll on both now with videos covering my initial thoughts.
All of these skates that he interviews are so cool, but they are so expensive!
Hi there!
First of all, congrats on your channel, videos and skating skills. I'd like to know if you usually keep all the skates that you have. when i saw these new skates yesterday in proskaters place via the website and Bills comments from a post about being psychic....well i guess i should have been a detective. great video bill !! love that drone footage.
I need a really long flowcast from you. Haven't given us one of those in awhile:(
Nice dude, nice video a cool music, keep it up in this way!
Great video, looks like so much fun! I'm curious about the Trinity mounting system, is it something that will... "change the world of inline skating forever"...? It sure looks like a great idea.
Thanks for the review. How does it compare to Flying Eagle triskates (all around)? I remember you praised FE a lot.
I had a feeling this was coming today.
Good video Bill! Christmas came earlier this year, it seems that this new skates handle braking better (accurate) than hockey skates. How is the stiffness compared to hockey skates? we have a two guys on the team that wear those skates !! They like them !
Do you have a video you could refer me to for learning that fast hockey stop and slowing down when skating downhill?

Hello Bill, those skates are being sold as rockered skates. Do you skate these rockered or did you change anything on the frame before you went out on the streets? Greetings Paul

what do you think of the Rollerblade RB Twister Pro Limited Urban/SUV Skate, are these some good skates to into?
what song are you using around 9 min in
Great video! What size wheels are those?
Thanks S 100mm
Can you make a stick handling vid plz
You are so cool Bill
Where do you buy your waxed laces from
Did they stop making these?
3:48 - 3:50 Did you reverse the video? Leg moves look odd!
Yes, good eye! I needed an entrance shot but only the exit turned out!
yup cars driving in reverse in the background haha
How does sizing for reign compare to bauer?
I’d love to know that too. Are they like Bauer Vapor, or Supreme in foot shape? The lack of a liner and less padding means that foot shape becomes more significant.
@@StillAliveAndKicking_ They fit more like the Supreme foot shape. I ordered the same size I wear in bauer skates and they fit but they were slightly more snug in length by a mm or two. The reigns don't come up your ankle as high as a bauer, which I find more comfortable (reduces lace bite). Use the size guide and measure the length of your foot against a wall a couple times.
tucker101010 Thank you. It sounds like they might fit me, as I wear Supreme 2s Pro.
tucker101010 Thanks, my longest foot is 262 mm suggesting an EU size 41 according to their size chart. However I’m a 42 or Bauer 7 in ice skates.
@@StillAliveAndKicking_ I wear an 8 in Bauer and ordered a 42 reign. The reign is similar width to the yellow bauer boot but slightly shorter in length. 42 reign just barely fits my foot length.
may you recommend me 100mm wheels that are good
hi i just bought new par of inline skate I used to drive a motorbike I love bikes so much quick as fuck but I'm hyperactive I need to release more energy instead of sitting on the vehicle to go places, so i got myself a bike cycle and it was good but to big, my dad found me a good scooter and it was perfect until it broke when a bmw ran me over. now i got inline skates and re started skating again after 10 years.
Doing this will make the wheels last much longer, and hold better shape for longer so you wont need to change them as often.
thank you so much this has made my problem go away haha very helpful i appreciate the knowledge
I'd accompany you to the quintillion :D how do you deal with it when its wet? I live in england and there are ALWAYS damp patches/water on the ground.
Where in England?

Yeah I'm from Bristol and I don't have the best luck either when it comes to terrain.
we're moving to the bristol area soon. is there good rolling to be had? provided the weather is forgiving...
Depends where you are in Bristol but for the most part..... no. It's a rarity
