"You don't need no 30 round clipazine. If you can't hit your target with 5 rounds you are a bad shot and that deer deserves to live." I hear that one a lot.
Maybe I should just hunt alone then, so that way I can actually f*cking concentrate on the deer with my .45 ACP semiauto subrifle, and not have the 2/4/6/9 other assclowns who just *_NEEDED_* to tag along and talk about their dumbass bolt action Remington .22lr with the Hubble telescope attachment, or their titanium/gold alloy recurve bow with the laser reflex sight, and they're trying to convince me that I'm using the wrong gun for deer I'm going to kill a deer, chop up its body, and mount its head on my wall. Well that’s kind of true if you can’t hit a deer with less than 5 shots you should probably get back to the range for a while but, that has nothing to do with a 30 round magazine and a 30 round magazine has nothing to do with hunting so.

Harrell politely declined, and the guy used his truck to run over his campfire, then he tried to hit the truck but was stopped by Harrell. Revolvers have less moving parts, thus lower chances of malfunction compared to automatics. But the rub is when revolvers fuck up, they fuck up hard and are a nightmare to fix.

My answer to Fudds who say that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t cover modern sporting rifles, is to quote Justice Scalia in the Heller majority decision to them: DC v Heller, page 8 paragraph 2 of the decision says: “Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment. We do not interpret constitutional rights that way. Just as the First Amendment protects modern forms of communications, e.g., Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U. S. 844, 849 (1997), and the Fourth Amendment applies to modern forms of search, e.g., Kyllo v. United States, 533 U. S. 27, 35-36 (2001), the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding.”
Yep... So if any words created after the Ratifying and signing of the first amendment right to free speech that must mean everything written since signing is unconstitutional by their logic.....?just think of the argument in court we will abide by your stipulation "Modern Guns" if you accept ours first amendment " "modern words"be careful what you wish for.Jim

I live in a Chicago condo. Several months ago in a condo meeting a man asked if we could ban firearms from the building. The rep from the management company said no way as it is a second amendment right. Later I found out he bought a winchester model 94 made in 1949 off of gun broker. He grew up with one. When asked about his question in the meeting he said he was worried about " that tactical stuff."
I want to comment on this. Attitude has changed from when I was a young man and generally not for the better. Lets face it mental loonies are not going out shooting up schools with bolt action rifles or flintlock pistols. Tactical style firearms attract a higher percentage of poor attitude immature sociopaths. The old guys do not fear the platform we fear the nut holding the platform. Honestly there is a reason most reasonable military forces in the world do mental screening under stress before handing out lethal kit. I remember being able to purchase a firearm at Roddy Auto parts In California with no check. I also remember there would always be some supper FUDDY old fart scrutinizing any and every question and request to see or handle a firearm. If the old man saw even a hint of bad attitude a mistake in handling or indication of ignorance all deals and help were over like forever.
"The Colt 45 auto (1911) is so deadly because the bullet tumbles in air" I questioned why then they are known for accuracy and are commonly used in competition "Well those new shooting game custom guns are so different from any real gun they're barely related" I pointed out that smoothbore pistols were phased out in the 1800s because they were highly inaccurate His response "same reason a 12 gauge slug is so deadly, smooth bore, it tumbles. Don't argue with me boy. I was shooting before you were born" I'm a gunsmith.
Fudd Lore: .50 BMG will RIP the brains out of a deer's eye sockets even if you miss completely... you know, because of the "shockwave" a high BC bullet creates as it goes through the air.
I love the "your guns to small" speech from a guy carrying cheapo 45 acp fmj ammo, talking about my 10 mm loaded with critical defense! Some people are just spare parts.
Actually with smaller calibers like .32 ACP you would want to carry it with FMJ. Ballistic tests show hollow point in smaller calibers lacks penetration and expansion (if it penetrates). Meanwhile FMJ reliably penetrates, but has no expansion. Obviously doesn't apply to 45 ACP though.
I spent part of my school years in Tennessee, and had to debate a "pro-gun Republican" who supported "assault weapons" bans. "Why do you need an assault rifle to hunt?", she asked about the AK-47. I told her that the 7.62x39 is damn-near ballistically identical to the .30-30 cartridge and is perfect for hunting, and she still couldn't accept it. Facts don't matter to these people. She'd tell me, "we don't want to ban guns! Just assault weapons!" She couldn't tell me what an "assault weapon" was.
But why even use an AK or AR for hunting, nobody needs to give a reason to own their weapon, they’re just commonly used semi automatic guns. No reason to give an excuse as to why you need or own one. They’re not for deer, they’re for home defense, etc.
Something I've noticed about people who want to ban 'assault weapons ' is that they (or their party) alone get to decide what fits the definition of 'assault weapon'.
The most effective useful idiot for absolute state power is a person who firmly believes something for emotional justifications, but cannot clearly give its parameters in rational descriptions
Overheard this at the local gun shop "my dad served in Vietnam, and he hated the m16. He'd shoot the VC 4 times with that rifle and he'd still be shooting back. Just once with his .45 and it blew him on his back"
His dad must have got around, because I swear I’ve heard the same story from about a dozen other dudes. I had three family members serve in Vietnam. My dad drove an M48 in the closing years of Vietnam and was issued an M3A1. I never heard him comment on the M16 growing up, but he became a fan of the AR later in life. I had an uncle on my dad’s side who would tell you he got in a firefight every day during his tour, but according to my dad he was a “pogue”. I think he may have drove a truck or something, I’m still not entirely sure to this day. He made quite a few comments about Mattel designing the M16 and how it jammed all of the time, but you could pick up an “AK out of a rice paddy” and shoot all day. Bunch of comments like that. Then there was my Mom’s brother. Super nice guy, pretty reserved and quiet. He served as a Pathfinder under the 25th infantry division. He never talks about the war, and the only reason I know which unit he was with was from my grandfather recording it. Family rumor is that he saw a relatively decent amount of action, but he has never confirmed or denied it to me. Anyway, to this day he keeps a Colt SP1 near his bed, and it rides with him while working on his cattle farm. It’s the only gun I’ve ever seen him with, and the thing hardly has any anodization left on the receivers. I could drive up to his house right now and he’d have it accessible. He has an almost emotional connection to that gun. I don’t know if it had anything to do with his service, I can only speculate. Regardless, he seemed to be alright with the rifle.
Woodrow Call Your uncle could have done a lot worse than a SP1. Although I’m “Vietnam generation”, I never served. I was 1A in 1970, but ended up with a lottery number of 339. So I never got drafted, and I didn’t enlist. BUT... I do own a half dozen ARs, including a 20” M16/A4 replica, and I love that rifle. If I had to get rid of all but one of my ARs, I’d keep that 20”. They are just great rifles.
@Amarok Tezcatlipoca Tumbling isn't because of the barrels , it is because of the bullet design. Barrels primarily affect the probability of fragmentation, which is a different mechanism but can occur at the same time of tumbling. Tumbling doesn't do much more damage than FMJ, but fragmentation is what causes those wounds you were talking about.
I had a hunter tell me I look like a gangster with my suppressed mac11(I'm black with tattoos.). He literally does dives by's on deers and wild hogs! The hypocrisy.
Well, he wasn't incorrect in that assessment, and your style of dress may have played a role in his observation. But you are right about the irony of his comment, although there are legitimate (but unsporting) hunting tactics that involve shooting from an automobile. People sometimes tell me that I look like Morpheus from the Matrix, but that may be because I'm bald and I tend to wear sunglasses and overcoats on sunny winter days. Although since I grew a moustache, I don't get that comment as much. Now they just say I look like a villain from a 60s spy flick, since I also live with a rather manipulative fluffy cat :P.
My grandpa owns 6 rifles, all bolt action. He voted yes on I-1639. I said you know, it's semi automatic now, next they'll say your 30-06 is a "sniper" rifle
Mad respect for your grandfather, hes probably a great shot with all 6 of those rifles, but hes living in a different time. Unfortunately, some people will only see the errors in their ways when the hammer falls...and by then its too late.
Admittedly, I do keep an empty chamber in my shotgun by my bed, but there's a 90% chance that I'm checking what that noise was with a pistol and a flashlight.
Well actually that works quite well. My 870s have a little switch to pump the gun without chambering. That sound works all over the world but of course your gun is still unloaded and not very useful so I can see both sides
Ran into a fudd at a chain gun shop in Wisconsin they had a great sale on 7.62x39 and the punk they put behind the counter was disgusted with that fact I bought a 1000 round case said nobody needs this much ammo 😤 stupid fudd
I use to have the fudd mentality, my grandfather handed down all his typical hunting rifles and shotguns along with his model 10 smith to me and I never looked at the second amendment beyond hunting. I had all the misconceptions about AR’s and AK’s and thought they had no place in civilian hands, thank God those days are long gone. The whole point of the second amendment is about keeping a tyrannical Government in check, and given enough power, all governments even ours will become corrupt and tyrant.
Yes... in the midst of mortars, tanks, and about a thousand rounds of ammo a second being fired.. the nazi's were listening carefully for the clip to pop out. I have heard this as well. It could have happened in an isolated circumstance.. but come on.
You must not remember your history! The M1 Garand was quickly phased out after it betrayed so many soldiers with its deadly ping. It is viewed as one of the worst guns in the history of warfare and was the reason the Allies ended up losing.
@Dan Harvey I don't know how I've managed to avoid stumbling across that guy until now. And I'd have preferred not to. He says he's a fan of the CZ-75B, which makes me wince a bit, since I love all my CZ's. I don't go in for the chrome plating (OK - I do have one -75B in brushed Nickel two-tone, but CZ did those tastefully). I will say one thing: he's found some nice grips for his CZ handguns - Micarta, maybe? Now I'll have to look into where he got those... damn....
Here are some of my favorite Fudd Lore stories: "Hollow points are illegal! You can't have those because they're cop killers" "I shot this thing with regular bullets and it stopped them. Then I switched to hollow points and they blew right through it!" "AR15's? You mean those plastic pieces of crap? Get an M14.(they mean M1A) That's a real man's battle rifle."
Fudd = "I served in Korea and was shot or know someone that was shot by an SKS or AK-47, so I refuse to own, sell or like any Russian firearms and encourage you to hate them. Shame on you for buying and selling them." = Fudd Logic.
Id say that sounds like more of a PTSD issue, than anything. As in America you're free to sell or not sell what ever you want too. And I mean if i was shot by one of those guns I'd probably never want to see one again. How ever I have been shot at by an AK, and I still own one, because its a gun, and its awesome. Admittedly I owned it before I went over seas so, theres that as well.
I remember seeing a video once where somebody talked about owning an AK in the '70s, and how a gunsmith who was a Vietnam vet once refused to work on it because it was 'the enemy's gun'. However, I think things like that are likely not so much Fudd issues as a result of particular people's experiences in war. A true Fudd would be just as hostile to an AR or FAL, yet fine with a 98k just like the ones that were fired at his dad in WWII.
Fudds like to say, "you don't need that." And they're right. I don't need it, but I want it. They forget that this is America. We don't need justification for things we want. Great episode, guys. I love it.
Dont have to prove a need to enact a right. Classic example I always refer to: Did Rosa Parks NEED to sit in the front of the bus? NO. Was it her right? YES. Does anyone ever question it...these days? NO. That usually convinces people.
You don't need to own a Ferrari, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get one of you can. You don't need a 75 inch TV screen. You don't need the latest cell phone model. And no one has to justify getting any of those things if they wish. Fancy guns are no different.
The whole 'don't present until you intend to use it' is itself Fudd Lore. Defensive display, when you draw without the intent to immediately fire, is a proper step on a force escalation and can be deescalating. Not having to shoot someone because they had second thoughts after you draw to a low ready is far better than just drawing and firing.

I think the 2nd amendment probably was put there serve several different purposes, but the most important thing about it is the right it guarantees us. You shouldn't have to justify your NEED for a gun of any certain type in order to be allowed to buy one, so long as you use it safely and legally. Idk where the fight against mass shootings and gun violence and the like begins, but I do know that banning certain guns and gun features would only serve to treat one symptom while leaving the complex and unknown societal disease to continue festering. Ive never needed a gun. I don't hunt and I live in a safe area. I like guns simply because many of them are interesting to me historically and scientifically, and I think that's more than reason enough.

So my ol'man took his CZ 455 Ultra Lux in to a very well known gun store in my area and had them put the 17hmr barrel on it and mount a scope and rings. My dad is old and has moments where he doesn't catch everything, so he goes out to the range and can't get this gun sited in for nothing so he calls me to come look at it. First thing i noticed was the scope was cock eyed on the rifle then i looked through the scope to see that his crosshairs were not level either. Upon further inspection i noticed that the front rings were not even attached to the base at all they were just hanging off of the scope an inch in front of the base. I can't imagine this was all done on accident at all, i could see not having the scope perfectly level but to not have the front rings attached to the base at all makes me think it was deliberate. I think they may have been pissed because he didn't order the 17hmr barrel from them but that's because he went in and asked them about it and they told him they didn't make a 17hmr barrel for the 455 he would have to buy a whole new gun in 17hmr if he wanted one. They were trying to take advantage of an old man that wasn't completely sure of the info he had read online. Moral of the story... beware of who you do business with regardless of their reputation.

I have two from my grandfather, God rest his soul, we lost him 2 years ago. Anyway, he always kept an 1890s Hanover Arms 12 ga under his bed, and knowing this after he passed as this was the gun he willed to me, I broke it open to safety check it and what did I find, two 3 inch magnum buckshot rounds crammed in the chamber, this gun is chambered for 2 1/2 inch shells and it has Damascus barrels. I had to beat these shells out with a cleaning rod because they were stuck in the barrels. The other thing my grandfather often did was fix things with jb weld, including his Remington 700 in 7mm mag. its definitely fudd lore, but there is a grain of truth in it. the sound of a pump is a type of warning, and it will trigger the fight or flight instinct. but to think that everyone will choose flight is ridiculous. some people would run, some people would put their hands up and surrender so they dont get shot, and others would point their own gun in the sound of the noise of the pump and start firing.
Yes, but I’d rather the intruder think, what was that noise & why am I bleeding and I’m pain, than announce I’m armed & lowering my odds of survival. Just me though.

I thought I was the only one who had ever heard that nuttiness. I had a friend who really was a Vietnam vet who made that claim ... said he could load AK ammo into his M14 if he couldn’t get the good American stuff, but fortunately, never had to try it. DC v Heller, page 8 paragraph 2 of the decision says:
“Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment.

I've heard that one myself. Any FMJ round is the LAST round you want to use.
They don't understand that any object can become an "assault weapon" if someone has the intent to assault someone with it.
But why even use an AK or AR for hunting, nobody needs to give a reason to own their weapon, they’re just commonly used semi automatic guns. No reason to give an excuse as to why you need or own one. They’re not for deer, they’re for home defense, etc.

No shotgun is complete without a bayonet lug and a firm solid stock. Any assailant in your home would get the general idea from it.

Here are some of my favorite Fudd Lore stories:
"Hollow points are illegal! You can't have those because they're cop killers"
"I shot this thing with regular bullets and it stopped them. Then I switched to hollow points and they blew right through it!"
"AR15's? You mean those plastic pieces of crap? Get an M14.(they mean M1A) That's a real man's battle rifle."
Fudd = "I served in Korea and was shot or know someone that was shot by an SKS or AK-47, so I refuse to own, sell or like any Russian firearms and encourage you to hate them. Shame on you for buying and selling them." = Fudd Logic.
Those types of fudds rarely actually served in a war.

Moral of the story... beware of who you do business with regardless of their reputation.

its definitely fudd lore, but there is a grain of truth in it. the sound of a pump is a type of warning, and it will trigger the fight or flight instinct. but to think that everyone will choose flight is ridiculous. some people would run, some people would put their hands up and surrender so they dont get shot, and others would point their own gun in the sound of the noise of the pump and start firing.
Yes, but I’d rather the intruder think, what was that noise & why am I bleeding and I’m pain, than announce I’m armed & lowering my odds of survival. Just me though.
To an extent. Most criminals are cowards. And I've heard verifiable stories of a 12ga pump scaring intruders off. But none of the people who have been in that situation wanted chamber to be empty when they pumped it.
Yes...
How about not using 5.56x45 or ANY sort of buck shot for home defense because over OVER PENETRATION? You should only use #8 bird shot, that'll do it and preferably out of a double barrel.
TRUE men do a Wyatt Earp and fire both barrels of their shotgun into someone when defending themselves.

try a cut shell make sure it will go thru the choke tho
Did you have a conversation with Joe Biden?
at 6:05 you nailed it... same way I was taught... brandishing a gun to 'scare' somebody it might have unintended consequences. If you whip a gun out to 'scare' somebody they might feel as if their life was in danger (imagine that) and cause them to react in ways that they may not have otherwise. Same goes for knives and even verbal exchanges, don't go saying something that leads a person to believe 'the sh!t's about to be going down' if it really isn't.
Brandishing a possibly lethal weapon is attempted murder under any system of law, and whoever you point it at is entirely within their right to brain you out of self defense.
Ar-15s can shoot 50 rounds per second in full semi auto!
UK fudd law for you - You don't need guns to hunt, crossbows are more accurate anyway.
Top that.
swords are qcker to reload
Granddaughter 1 “I said fire a warning shot.”
Granddaughter 2 “That WAS a warning shot”
Granddaughter 1 “Sarah, THAT was a head shot.”
Granddaughter 2 “Well now his friends are warned.”
Fudds are both entertaining and infuriating at the same time
My favorite fudd lore is "a mosin is far superior to a mauser."
That's like saying your 65 mustang is inferior to my model T
Fuckin garbage rods LOL
The Mosin is my favorite rifle, and while they are far from bad guns, the Mauser has a much better action. The only thing the Mosin action has over the Mauser’s is it doesn’t freeze up in the cold as easily. And the Mosin began production in 1891 and the Mauser in what, 1895?
@@sirboomsalot4902 which model lol
General Sherman I like all models, my favorites being the original M91, the Finnish models, M44, and the 91/30.
“More deadly” what a concept
Vietnam Fuddlore: "The North Vietnamese have a rife that will fire their ammo and will also fire our ammo." I heard this several times and never knew how it got started. The nearest I can figure is because people were told the 7.62 x 39 round was a 308 size round so people associated that to the 7.62 Nato being similar to the .308.
I thought I was the only one who had ever heard that nuttiness. I had a friend who really was a Vietnam vet who made that claim ... said he could load AK ammo into his M14 if he couldn’t get the good American stuff, but fortunately, never had to try it. I told him it was a damn good thing he didn’t. I tried to explain that just because both are nominally 7.62, the com bloc bullet is actually .312”, not .308, and that the length was 39mm, not 51mm. He insisted he was right. You can’t fix stupid.
Fudd Lore #1 ... Never carry your handgun loaded, you'll have time to rack the slide.
Fudd Lore #2 ... Rack the slide on your shot gun and the home invader will run away.
Fudd Lore #3 ... Birdshot will blow a "rat hole" through someone.
Concerning #2, In my residence the home invader has to be a little more observant. He has to listen for the sound of the safety clicking off.
#2 may be somewhat true, someone hearing that pump being cycled may very well reconsider what they're doing. That being said, you'd better be prepared for them not get the message and have some 00 in there to deal with that.
may be outing myself as a fudd but I never have one in the pipe... If i can't rack the slide I probably wasn't going to get a shot anyway
@@wonderfultigger6620 Then you probably shouldn't carry in the first place. If you have the time to load it, you probably didn't need to draw it. I suggest some professional training.
#3 maybe if you're at point blank range and the shot hasnt expanded into it cone shape yet.
".22 LR just bounces around in the skull & turns the brain to mush, that's why it's the most deadly round".
That has to be the most common Fuddlore.
Always love when Carlos hathcock gets a mention. Thumbs up

im new to guns, can you elaborate?
@@waviddcclearnon9320 the NRA profits off of hysteria and does little to protect gun rights.

@@waviddcclearnon9320 The NRA has made a lot of compromises in the past with the government. They don't do it as much as they use to, but still.
I was in the Cabelas gun library today and there were a couple of guys looking at the Springfield M1A Loaded saying “well what would even be left of a deer to eat with that thing” so I had to chime in and say hey that’s either a .308 or a 6.5 Creedmoor, both are very commonly used deer calibers. Ended up talking to them for a while. I’m no expert but it was fun to share what knowledge I do have and try to help them gain a little
