It's good to know that there are some contractors that are willing to accept a challenge and conquer the inconsistencies of the Lighthouse Castle. Will definitely be a boost for their business and showcase the process and results to get the job done! I respect contractors that take pride in their work.
That is exactly what everyone forgets. This castle is a pain in the A$$. But so freaking cool it’s worth it! No one will understand until they see it in person trust me!! These boys did a great job and I appreciate them!
Let the professionals do what they do best so we can do what we can the best we can. That small round, so to speak, shower was a challenge and as far as I’m concerned the tilers did an excellent job of finishing it out, looks good, thank the guys for letting us tag along, enjoyed watching Matt, thanks for the update.
👍 The best thing you said was "rain shower head as well". Never understand the folks that don't incorporate one. That's gonna' be killer with that tall ceiling. That's some good looking work that crew did.
I'm sure it has something to do with the pattern of the floor tile, and that's why it didn't matter. Whenever I do tile, we center the first tile and go outward so the cut tiles are all even along the outside edge. That's how I was taught around 1989. It does make more waste, but it looks better when everything is the same. Looking good either way!
My first thought, "Will that space, behind the wall he's adding be accusable for utilities, storage, etc... or be wasted and unusable?" I hope it's the former, not the latter and this is why you need drawings to prevent the wasting of materials and space. ;-) At 15:12; I'm sorry, but the tile manufacturer should have made the panels interlock to prevent visible gaps between panels or am I commenting to soon and there's small pieces or grout will fill in the gaps? We'll, see?
Not to be too critical, but in my opinion, the tile guys could have taken a little more time trying to blend the rock pattern Squares so they don't look like 12 x 12 squares. You can see where each square is. You should be able to move those rocks enough to blend them together to lose that square pattern. I guess maybe im too particular, but if it was mine, thats what I would do. just an observation. Too late now.. lol Still love the tile. Good job Matt.
Everyone has their likes and dislikes. There is nothing wrong with yours. I am pleased with their job and I think it keeps looking better and better. So this guy is smiling 😁😁😁
@@nyamillennial no, you're right it still looks really good. Once grouted you may not even be able to see the lines. Course now that I put it in your head, you will... LOL Sorry!!! Love your Channel dude, didnt mean anything by it and no shade to the contractor. Love the progress!!
You're NOT supposed to be able to see the seams so prominently on that river rock. You can pick out each invividual square mat. Only half a$$ fix, dark matching grout. These other video commenter's seeing-eye dogs must be blind. This what you get on 'Bring You're GF/Wife To Work Day.'
Interestingly enough once grouted it looks natural and fitting. Have you never worked on a Sunday and brought you family only to ensure time with them?

I agree! Thank you
Matt, those showers are going to be most unique. Well done my friend!
the caste again rolls eyes darn thing
More castle curve balls ... Having personally done large tile areas (and small ones) - all respect for the guys solving the problems.
The tiles really work with the castle. And you definitely have the right professionals doing the work. Great choice for the tiles, Matt.
Yep great video and interesting too. Safe travels. Ken.
They both look good, and the small looks rustic 👌
Niche, pronunciation neesh 👍

That’s Nate. Enjoy the video.
MM77 Approved 👍🏼 👍🏼
Right on!
Beam me down Scotty.🧑🚀
Question did you think about scaring the back side of the hardy board every 12 inch and putting it in in one piece..?

Not wasted. Crawlspace access and storage back there. As for the gaps yes grout goes in.
I think an 11 foot high shower is a mistake how do you clean it?
Likely a mop, with a long handle. ;-)
With detail drawings, these "quirks" wouldn't happen, but being what it is (a "castle"), I guess it works? ;-D

"Durock® is water durable but not waterproof." Did you rule out that they will it retain water over time? Seems possible.

I'm with you. My Perfectionism OCD would be going crazy with the pebble lined and the in that odd shaped shower.

@@nyamillennialyeppers the light colored thinset looks crazy the grout makes it all come together
Since I don't live there and Matt and crew are satisified, thats all that really matters.
It matches everything else there
Make it a double shower w/two shower heads
It has a lower and upper
