- From 11 to 14 September 1970, a MACV SOG Hatchet Force (United States Army Special Forces and Montagnards) made a covert incursion into southeastern Laos during the Vietnam War.
Col. Barry Pencek flew USMC AH-1 Cobras on that mission, codenamed Scarface 20.
Lt.Col. Dick Thompson served with MACV SOG as a recon team leader on 20 covert missions in Laos and Cambodia.
In this unique podcast, the two men discuss critical air support viewed from ground level and up in the cobras, and explain the history of the operation, featured in Barry's book. Dick also has a book due out very soon about his 20 insane recon missions in enemy territory - SUBSCRIBE to receive notice of several future podcasts discussing Dick's book!

Grateful for the opportunity to hear more, from Dick Thompson and meeting Barry first time.
I can't imagine missing the insights lent to viewers, on some of the realities of Vietnam War.
Feel sorry there was so much confusion disseminated by press, to tax-paying citizens of the greatest nation fighting tyranny and oppression throughout the universe.
Just goes to show, there are all kinds of people in the world.
Welcome back our stalwart heroes!
Thank you sirs for giving us a little more insight on what is SOG missions
Rob thank you and Savage Game Design for doing all the work you guys are doing its behind a game this is history
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with these most charming, erudite and seasoned warriors last fall. Absolute delight!
Great watch
It’s a shame these Savage Game Design SOG interviews don’t get more views. Same cast of heroes as many of the other podcasts, but some very interesting questions others have not asked before. Well done. Keep it up. The commitment to design such a historical accurate game needs to be commended.
thanks - we are in it for the long haul, with documentary, graphic novels, more games and a TV show planned. These stories we post are an essential part of preservation of special operations history and will be referred to many times in future projects.
