I love the Thompson in any variation. The sound is brilliant, it's fast, and powerful. Just short bursts as you say. Loved it on CoD WW2, Medal of Honour, and all the Sniper Elite games. Its a pity the BAR isn't in Sniper Elite. I'd love to see a top 10 fave maps from the entire Sniper Elite series. Also top 10 weapons and so on. An entire series top 10. 😊
The second configuration is pretty similar to how I upgrade mine. The only differences are I use the lightened and stripped barrel to make it even more stable and take advantage of that M1 SOE suppressor (one of the best attachments in the game, for any weapon), the heavy bolt to tame the recoil, and the 50 round drum because why not? The only real penalty for going 50 rounds over 30, is making the already terrible spread accuracy a bit worse - you aren't going to be shoulder aiming with it anyway. The overpressure parts I find cause you to miss more shots, which cancel out the advantage in damage. I prefer more stable, low recoil, hit with pretty much every bullet. The only problem I have with the weapon, is making it powerful makes it less accurate, and if you make it accurate, it's only accurate with iron sights. The Welgun, and to some extent the MP40, can be made accurate with iron sights and shoulder aiming, in the same build, with similar damage. The only reason to choose the Thompson over either of those is range, and if you want range, you'd just use the MP44. It can definitely be made very good, there's just always something else better.
Will you be creating a Sniper Elite 5 Sidearm (or) Pistol Tier-list? (Preferably sidearm; I use the Welgun and I am curious about your perceived efficacy of it)
Once I've done all the base game submachine guns, I will make a ranking video on them all, and the same goes for the pistols. After that, I will start reviewing the DLC weapons and then I will be able to create ranking videos on all of the weapons in the game.
That second loadout looks just like how I used the thompson before switching to the ERMA as my go-to SMG. Really liked the look of that suppressor!

To be honest I think it’s the best sidearm. My second choice would be the sten for stealth, and the grease gun for damage.
