James Dean was speeding.....he killed himself.
......people just want to believe that Dean was innocent.......he was driving a Porsche Spider, capable of 140 mph......timing indicates he was speeding.......the couple in the Pontiac he overtook said he was speeding.......the physics of the wreak say he was speeding.
Antonio Brown his mechanic told him to run it, to prepare it for the race they never made it to.

I think Dean was going as fast as he could get his 550 Spyder to go. He had just topped off the gas, so it was pedal to the metal all the way. Relivially deserted highway but not completely deserted for his thrill ride. Taking it to the limit one last time...
We were just there this past week. We also seen the bigger than life, James stand-up farther down at the gas station, where James had stopped to buy gas. We just missed you! Dang! Love your vlogs!

James Dean has always been one of my heroes. I grew up not too far from Fairmont, Indiana where James did and because I have always had a passion for film and acting it Was only natural I was drawn towards this ICON. I visited Jame's apartment in NYC, where I took some awesome photos. This location has always been on my bucket list and the next time I am in Southern cali I am definitely visiting this location. Thanks for sharing man, I really enjoyed this.

JAMES DEAN. really interesting I was watching some of REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE a while ago and interesting both him and his co star NATALIE WOOD both died young in freak accidents NATALIE WOOD drowned which is strange very creepy because she has a fear of water her whole life , it is like she had a premonition, may they both REST IN PEACE
Finally caught up!!! Stinks being behind and missing the daily conversations with each vlog, but I love the binge aspect of it. What a slew of fantastic vlogs!!! Barbara Stanwyck and John Wayne were such cool and unique spots. I personally love Abbott & Costello so that was a really nice vlog, the Earl Carroll theater and its history and different incarnations was really interesting, Gram Parsons...wow!!!! Just wow!!! Thank you Jordan & Jauh for another interesting episode. We always enjoy your uploads. I realize "The Crash" is rife with conjecture, so let me add more yet... As you were standing on the side of 46 looking eastbound, I was imagining James and Rolph barreling towards the junction (downhill) at a high rate of speed and it occurred to me (a point I've never heard before)... Because the Spyder was such an unusually small car, did it appear FURTHER AWAY from Donald? Is this why he proceeded to turn into/across the westbound lane? If Dean had been in a normal larger car, Donald may have judged the closing distance more accurately and likely would've decided he could not make the turn in time. It's similar to the theory that is etched on many side mirrors today (objects are closer than they appear) but in reverse. I'm certain Turnipseed, like many of us, are not used to seeing such small, low to the ground vehicles, especially back in that day when automobiles were behemoth. A tiny car, painted silver/gray (that blended in with the color of the pavement) must've appeared much further away...than it actually was. A simple, honest mistake. Unfortunately, it took a young, promising life. -oO( 😔 )Oo- Ps. Just my two cents.

Whoa, your vlog is very timely. I just watched the new episode of Autopsy Last Hours of... on him. There were a couple of things that stood out. The first being, an eye witness said that he was not the driver. The mechanic who was with JD, was thrown from the car and James was on the passenger side with his foot caught between the brake and clutch. JD's girlfriend believes James was not behind the wheel at the time of the accident. The other thing was that the ambulance was in an accident on the way to the hospital. JD's neck was broken and it was not secured / braced, in the back of the ambulance. He could have survived his injuries from the initial crash.
The PSA he did on the dangers of speeding on the highway just two weeks before his death, gave me chills. He was stopped before the accident for going 10 miles over the 65 mph limit. It seems, the driver of the other vehicle was being more reckless and stopped in their lane while crossing in front of them, leaving no time to react. It's also telling that the design of the junction was changed after the accident. His best friend who predicted he would die in that car within a week, also declined JD's offer to come to the race that he was on his way to, because he felt that strongly about how dangerous that car was.
James Dean, then Paul Walker. Screw Porsches! smh
That fence is not where it was in 1955. The lane closest to you didn't exist. Incoming and outgoing are both at point of collision. Look at hills in background 55 picture much closer. They used that spot because actual spot is in the middle of the new is in the new lane.

The last gas station photo of Dean was in Sherman Oaks at Ventura Blvd and Beverly Glen. At the time Dean lived on Sutton St in Sherman Oaks in a wood cabin house. It burnt down and is now a two story home with a gate. Thanks for your vlog!

I don't have the vaguest idea what an airbnb is, but I'm likin it! James Dean was only in 3 movies but what an impact he made! I love Giant and watch it every time its on. Rebel without a Cause was good too. I have always heard about Dean's cursed car so I believe what has been said about it. Loved that you and the Jahster are enjoying yourselves. What an awesome vlog Jordan. Very interesting impromptu stop there at the James Dean memorial site. Such a shame, but you know..... He really loved that car. I think he would have preferred going out that way, although he died way too young, and is missed to this day however, it really demonstrates the importance of loving what you do, taking one day at a time, and just living your life. Ok, so the Airbnb is really cool.... What a huge estate.... How much did it cost to stay there a night? Loved the pool..... The shorts were cool. The shots that really stuck out for me, was when Jah was looking at the goats, and Jah was watching you in the pool. I just think the whole Jordan and Jah duo is so awesome, and you can just feel the love when viewing this vlog. Let's see.... Oh yes, I really appreciate the dubbed in music that you've been plugging into the vlogs more and more, and the editing is really great. The vlogs just flow beautifully Jordan..... James Dean hada need for speed. He must of loved the way it made him feel. You know.... Powerful. In Control of himself. This feeling of his and that need for speed nobody could take it from him. In fact it was so powerful that that feeling of speed , even tho he knew he it was wrong to speed, he didn't care he just went for it. And sadly that freedom of speed took his own young life!!!!

Wow, what a great surprise. I was hoping you would film the crash site when you have gone Bakersfield area. He was such a great actor, gone far too soon. Also in the crash photo is there a person lying on the ground next to the gurney? The air BNB is stunning, silly Jah should have had a swim with his Daddy, he must loving the homestead.
A lot of people have died over the years at that 46/41 junction. They have redesigned it, but it is still very dangerous.
Highway 46 west of where you were (between Shandon and Paso Robles) has been locally known as "Blood Alley". Lots and lots and lots of collision deaths. I have lost several friends on it. It has since been reengineered too, but I still cringe every time I drive through or even think about it. I purposefully avoid driving through there whenever I can.
By the way, you missed the James Dean Monument in Cholame, next to the Jack Ranch Cafe. Its sculpture made of concrete and stainless steel that surrounds a tree. Its visible from the highway as you're driving by, less than 100 feet away. But don't blink or you'll miss it.

Great vlog. It looks like Jah had a great time too! If I remember correctly, the car that turned out in front of JD, was a big ol' De Soto - a Howard Cunningham type of car, and supposedly according to JD's friend in the car with him, they both saw the big car, and JD said to his friend about the other car - "He's gotta see us." Apparently, he didn't, and if that's true, then I'm guessing those were likely JD's last words.

Totally obsessing over Jimmy Dean at the moment. Highly recommend Liz “Dizzy” Sheridan’s (Seinfeld’s mom) book “Dizzy and Jimmy” and his friend’s Bill Bast’s book “Surviving James Dean”. I wonder if he had his lights on. If not, this might have saved him. I ALWAYS drive with lights on. During the day, there are infinite, even if unlikely, visual circumstances where you might not be very noticeable to other drivers, e.g., blending in with the backdrop. Even a brief mental fog due to being deep in thought might mean your presence is not sinking into another driver's brain.

Hello Daze and Jordan the lion you guys are the best. I just love the little guy because he has a magnetic personally and he's very smart. My baby girl name is Maxi Pearl Matthews I call her my furry baby. Maxi Pearl is extremely smart some of her examples are: She can Identify some of the alphabets, can count up to tour,and enjoys watching cartoons with my youngest granddaughter. They are inseparable. We loer your show.

unfortunately the porsche was basically a shell and a motor. No safery whatsoever even if he did manage to get hit the car folded up like a paper plane. Yes a good actor but probably going way to fast at the time anyway. Sad loss for sure.
