Thanks for the update. I'm looking at the AD5X, but not for multiple colors. I do functional prints. I'm very enthused about being able to print support material, a rigid structural material such as PETG-CF, and a flexible TPU on the top of the part interlaced with the base. That's huge. Nobody else has a 95A durometer TPU capable filament feeder so kudos to FlashForge.
@@802Garage - I've definitely seen you around, too. Maybe we both spend too much time on the internet? 🙂 Or maybe we have similar interests. Are you my brother from another mother? You won't see me on Facebook, Instagram, X or Reddit. 😀
@@802Garage - I was waiting to buy a $499 Sovol SV08 on 29NOV24, but decided I didn't want to wait a week to save $30 so I bought it tonight. I have a project for it and don't want to wait. Oh well, the price dropped $10 a couple of days ago, so at least I've got that going for me. Now to clear a big space in my messy office before it gets here.
I ended up purchasing the AD5X through Amazon. It took a little while to convince myself that this was a good choice, especially if the enclosure is going to be coming out in the near future.
Such a shame they didnt ship the first batch in advance to reviewers to prepare for a grand launch as i believe other manufacturers do. How great would there sales have been if you could have shown us a full user review on launch day !!
@FigureFeedback Any idea when Jeremy? Im looking at Christmas present of a 3d printer but i dont want to order one when the newer printer is coming soon maybe?
The color changer is cool and all , but i wish FF would open up the regular 5m to klipper like they said , They have gone dark on it and like their official GitHub said June and it has come and gone and nothing, a yes or no would be nice. At least than we could go a open source multi print system and other benfits like kamp/better print monitoring/Mainsail. the community klipper mod is kinda of stalled till they release the source code and follow the the klipper licenses. I guess second would be a replacement tool head based off the new one, the temp and new nozzle would be nice for the pro 5m or upgraded 5m. I want to like Flashforge but they keep making it harder compared to alot of their competition lately this year.
Sovol is killing it with open source collaboration. The SV08 is heavily based on the Voron 2.4, and Sovol has STEP files for the entire printer on their website as well as software, and they even kick a small amount of the SV08 purchase price back to Voron development. Even Creality has been compelled by customers to honor the open source licensing agreement.
@@Liberty4Ever Yeah Sv08 had some growing pains on launch, but been eyeing one to tinker on maybe a small multi tool changer on it. Looking for a new big printer don't really have anything over 300m and lately have had some stuff that would have been nice to print on a bigger printer .Qidi 4+ (i would add a SSR like a voron) , magneto x and the K2 are on the radar to . Flashforge needs to get with the times. And do not even get me started with the FF-Orca slicer ,defiantly not a team player on open source stuff.
Excellent video as usual. My question would have been WHEN can we expect to see the release of the new Orca-FF slicer so we can familiarize ourselves while waiting for the printer?
Based on the images I've seen from the user guide, the Orca-FF interface for multicolor printing is very similar to Bambu Studio. You could download that in the meantime to get a feel for it. Everything else is basically just like OrcaSlicer.
Flashforge just released a video a few hours ago about this exact topic. It's not the same as getting hands on with it, but at least it's something. It does look very similar to Bambu Studio, though, with the main difference that I could see being that you have to set the color in each slot on the device screen rather than in the software. They didn't show if you would be able to change it in the Device tab like you can with the AMS. Also the purge tower seemed massive compared to the default size in Bambu Studio, which might be a bit disappointing if it needs to be that large given the already smaller build area.
@@FigureFeedback I went back and looked at that part of the video. What strikes me is there's no column listed for "flush" like in Bambu Studio where it separates them. Either it is combing flush and tower into a single value here or it only uses the "poop chute" minimally when changing and does most of the purging on the tower like with the Prusa MMU system. From what I know from somebody who has the MMU3, it can produce overall less waste than either the AMS or AMS Lite and 80g on a 20g model isn't really that insane. I've done 5g minis that generate 55-60g of waste between flush and tower, though I usually do them in batches of at least 20-30 to offset the waste per model.
They just sent me an email saying they're fixing the poop chute deal because it was clogging in tests. I gotta wait until the end of January before they start printing.
@FigureFeedback yeah, I wonder what type of filament was causing the blockage, I mostly use pla and petg myself so was I even in need of the fix? Lol they didn't give a link to chose the filament they offered me so I guess it's a 50 something dollar grab bag where I might get pla, hs petg, or cf petg.. with no link to follow to pick I guess it's in Santa's hands. I AM on the nice list for taking in a poor used Creality K1 though, it's been happy since I got it. Lmao
Any info on how well the Air Filtration will be with a kit? How soon for a Pro version with built in enclosure and good air filtration be available? Not buying unless air filtration is First Class.
No information about air filtration right now. The Guider 4 Pro is replacing the 5M Pro line. It's fully enclosed and appears to be more of a prosumer model. No release date yet, but we may know more on the 20th.
220 cubed build plate to small not a fan of the spools not being enclosed. Seems like they didn’t put much thought in to this printer. Gonna be hard to compete with competitors out there that offer much more. Even at this price it’s a hard pass for me.
It is possible and I'm sick and tired of these companies treating us like we're morons, they can offer just the parts that are needed to upgrade that simple, and if they intentionally moved everything around so nothing would fit while still making it look the same then I don't think no one should buy this printer.
They want you to buy new. Maybe once all the spare parts are available someone will try and convert a 5M or 5M Pro - but likely won’t make financially sense. People have tried that with converting a 5M to a pro and it’s about the same cost than just buying a Pro to begin with. I might consider buying a 5MX and selling my current 5M sometime next year. Want to first see how much waste it produces when changing filament.
@pacificcoastminiatures yeah I'm not taking a chance on a new multicolor system, no potential upgrade to a system I already have I'm down for, it's already bad enough that the single color systems come incomplete and the community has to complete them with mods or make do

6.Question . Will the camera modul for 5M fit to 5X?
I actually would really like to know if there is going to be a fully enclosed pro model coming as well
A successor to the 5M Pro is coming.

it's cheaper to buy the ADX than modify, also they should add enclosure what the point of having higher temp is you can not fully use it.

If you're after the 5M Pro, I would wait for the Guider 4 Pro instead. The price is supposed to be very competitive considering its specs and the IFS.

By the time you replace and finagle everything into a previous model it seems like it could start approaching the cost of the printer on sale. 🤷🏼♀️
@ThisisDD if that was the case then the upgrade cost too much
How much would you be willing to pay for the upgrade parts and the IFS in a kit?
Skip the flashforge stuff unless you like customer "service" experiences that leave feeling frustrated.
