Great accurate breakdown. Scorpion is such a focused album and deserves to be recognized for its actual genius not just the normal musical listen people are giving it. The album is quit deep and tells a crazy story with so many bars aimed at YE and his bullshit. Love all of this!
That Drake Album is 70% filler. 1 hour 29 minutes and the only new content Drake raps about is in relation to Kanye and the Push beef, and y’all praising this album but saying that Kanye fell off and is not giving any attention to detail in his music?? Y’all are biased and/or confused, you could choose any of Kanye’s June releases at random and whichever one it is, it’s objectively BETTER than Scorpion. Some of the tracks are rushed the mixing on summer games is bad, the volume on that track is lower than on the rest of the album. Lately been gettin into deeper “gossip/drama/petty/spite” level of hip hop and at that level maddddddddddddddddd ish opens up. Interesting to get a deeper cut into what’s actually bein talked abt instead of just vibin to the flow. Amazing to see drizzy crush that STILL as expected...while also now having a better appreciation for just how much effort he’s put in to make sure the lyrics actually deliver extra levels...not just filler that rhymes. That used to be good enough for me. But you can dare say I added a layer of sophistication to my listening. Thanks to youtube obv and ish like this podcast and others. So it only helps me appreciate..not just Aubrey but all hip hop artists in general...just how difficult it is to create and architect bars for an audience...let alone an audience that you know has continuously growing expectations...let alone pure absolute number of listeners. I recently crossed over from lazy ass consumer to content creator...and even doe I don’t rap, I have such a different perspective and appreciation for ANY art form compared to last year, and it’s been quite the eye opening experience in terms of putting context to just how difficult it is to deliver, let alone at Mr. Graham’s level.........and I have a hard time finding a counter argument that he hasn’t delivered more than I could ever ever expect. It's quite obvious Push got him to rewrite chunks of the album. Keep in mind we never got an EXACT date in June until after Push's response track. It's very possible that could have been an extra two week push back just to not look bad for pushing it back more than an actual month since he technically never told us WHEN in June. That, and the amount of last min bars and an entire song we got owning up to Push's parts of his song regarding the man's child.
