Instead of funding Harvard, Indian billionaires should consider supporting Indian scholars willing to translate original Indic works written on palm leaves in Sanskrit and never translated. As mentioned by Sanjiv Sanyal at end of video. What a way to obtain immortality for everyone involved!

Alternatively, provide tax concession only to funds provided to Indian universities and research institutions, but tax funds sent to foreign universities. That should fix serious problems!

41:30 in fact, the phrase “the enemy of my enemy…” is attributed to Kautilya. It is from his theory of the Rajamandala in Sanskrit that the phrase travelled to become ‘amicus meus, inimicus inimici mei’ in Latin and then its modern English form in the 19th Century.

But i think in this podcast its a good opportunity to understand (a) principle of any philosophy (b) the context in which the commentary (c ) the delta of time construct and relevance.

Also because of the Buddhist concept of Ahimsa which the British ascribed to Ashoka. As a result of this we've had to give up our territories 70 years ago. Historically though, none of the Buddhist, Jain or Ajivaka kings practiced ahimsa. It was meant only for the Bhikshu.

Knowledge is what is “known “, thus we must take time to understand what actually happened in the past.
Look at the outstanding work done by Nilesh Nilkanth Oak who discovered the technology used by in ancient Indian texts “Ramayan “ and “Mahabharat “. We are now fairly certain abut the time of “Ravan Vadh” and Bhishma’s “Ichcha Mrityu “.
Nilesh Oak’s theory is based on the position of stars Jupiter and Arundhati. Arundhati moves around Jupiter in about 28,000 years. The calculations presented by Nilesh bring the accuracy to probably one / two weeks.
We must be thankful to Ashoka at least in one sense that he left inscriptions that give us the sense of his thoughts and the technology available in his time.

Please open your own channel Sanjeev sir and open the discourse more scholarly and formally , going deep in to it and explaining things with deeper insight and supporting your viewpoint with scholarly literature and other available literature of that time with us .
You coming to such shows where people hardly know about Chanakya and they having such a low level of understanding of political economy really is not worth watching as they can't really extract out anything much significant.
Please launch a full series about political economy of Bharat in form of books , video lectures etc .

Brilliant suggestion given the knowledge and experience he has and the position he holds in govt, it will certainly have a profound impact on society.

Prakhar you have so much reach, can you please find if there are any initiatives by government or so called new Hindu leaders on Creating more apps for Sanskrit stories and cartoons. We love learning the language but find less engaging due to lack of availability in the platforms that current generation uses. I am sure people are now watching movies and short movies in other languages due to dubbing and subtitles, so a similar start can bring more interest towards Sanskrit.

Before it becomes an Echo Chamber, you should ask Mr Sanyal 2 Basic Questions:
    1) When would Modi govt improve India’s “Ease of doing Business” Ranking to Top 10 List. Now it’s in 60+ rankings slot
    2) Improve current legal system that enforces written commercial contracts. Will there be special courts.
History does not feed the 600Million+ people but businesses and employers do.

Sanjeev sir should SERIOUSLY consider delivering a whole semester’s worth of lectures on TRUE Indian history and its relevance to our modern population. I am sorry to say that I am ASHAMED at the level of historical education imparted to us as students in school. This has to change.

Always a learning arc whenever I listen to your podcasts, prakhar.
I never knew how we as a nation adopted the wheel in our flag and to be honest never cared too.
But got to know now and it's all thanks to you and ofc Sanjeev Sanyal Sir.

The Host is either overconfident or lacks any of it. His body language is extremely inappropriate. The thinks of himself as Amitabh Bachchan from Agneepath. He is just backed by some of his good friends like the host of Dostcast. Other wise he is nothing. So calm down. Check your body language. And next time be a proper host.

So I think the way to solve the problem of lack of translation/interpretation would be to give willing historians competitive salaries for their work. I'm talking about private entrepreneurs, not officials of national archives or whatever government bureaucratic institutions, the later would provide some oversight for responsible use of funding, of course.

The anchor should not feedback his words in the mouth of the speaker. Sanjeev Sanyal clearly does not need your anchoring in words, context, ideas.

The reason why neighbors are likely to be enemies as per chanakya is because countries of those time are ever expanding ..they didnt have hard borders today. So when your border stops somewhere it implies borders could not be expanded more than that because of resistance from the other side making them your likely enemies...its not a rule but its logic
