I’ve ridden blur TR for Whiskey, Silver Rush, and Leadville this year. Your comment exactly why I picked it. Didn’t feel beat up at all after any these events. Very fun to bomb down decents. I’d prefer a tall boy, but still pretty plush.
Outstanding series! I fall squarely in the trail rider who wants a fast, fun and capable bike and couldn't care less about Strava times much less racing. I've been eyeballing the Blur to add to my Chameleon, but my lizard is so much damn fun that I just can't see myself having any more fun on the trail on any other bike..... and my bank account. I like my bank account.
Such a great video, Love the content that BE is putting out. I love the show down approach, as I watched these, I can't help but think how the Allied BC40, and the Transition Spur fit in the mix. I think they fit somewhere near the Cervelo. looking forward to the next video...good work!!!👏
Such a great series of videos. Thanks for doing this as the Blur and Oiz were what I was deciding between as a trail rider getting into racing so I am going to test ride an Oiz and likely order one soon!
I test rode an OIZ and a Revel Ranger back to back & went with the latter because the suspension was so plush. I hope I made the right decision. I ride XC about 9 months out of the year in Mexico, where XC is huge, and trail ride the rest of the time in central Texas.
Great review! and I have to add great work on the filming and editing. It would have been great to add the Pivot Mach 4 to the fleet, but I understand there are supply constraints on test bikes
I'd think the "no intention of racing just wants something that climbs well and won't kill them on the DH" type riders would be better served by a trail bike. A light, comfortable trail bike is going to be easy to ride all day, and confident on downhills as long as you aren't trying to go park or race pace. Something like a Ripley, Trail 429, Trance 29 or Tallboy.
Sure. A trail bike is much more confident on the DH. They don’t hold a candle to these in climbing performance though. If I constantly rode blues and greens and wanted to climb well, I’d take one of these.
Nice! I appreciate this as I am looking at the Oiz for my next bike. Do you have a comparison of the Oiz to the Specialized Epic EVO? I can't find anything on your site, but wasn't sure if I didn't look hard enough. ;)
I know it’s been a long time since you reviewed the cannondale scalpel SE, but maybe you can still remember your riding impressions. It would be very interesting to know how the scalpel se fits into this bunch of xc bikes. The scalpel seems a bit outdated and especially the geo is a bit conservative, but it's seems to be not far from the geo of the Blur.
Great review. Now the question would be the SC Blur or the Ibis Exie: Battle of the Nor Cal Brands or The Santa Cruz Rumble. Both great pedaling bikes that won't kill you on the downhills. Before I break down and buy an e-bike, I want to keep my man card and step down from short-travel trail bike to capable cross country to keep up with the youngens
I think it's closer to the Oiz than anything. Has a similar, firm suspension feel. The reach and WB are pretty long though (at least in XL) so that does add some stability on the DH.
I really like the idea of this bike but being 100kg I would be concerned about the range on a 40-50km 1,000m climb kind of ride. Would be keen to hear from heavier owners to see what they think. Another great review Will, thanks.
Curious how the Cervelo ZFS 5 would compare with the 100/100mm shock/fork on the climbs and flats. Seems like all the reviews are rocking the 120mm package.
Awesome series. So, I race XC, but don’t want to have a bike just for racing if possible. Could you really see riding one of these bikes as a trail bike? Or am I just asking too much?
Late comment on a year old video, so no worries if you can't respond. For something like a 50-miler, would you ever consider something like a Trek Top Fuel 9.8? Or would the weight penalty for a bike of that nature outweigh the benefit of having slacker geo and more comfortable positioning?
Not familiar with the top fuel. We don’t carry trek. I did a 50 mile endurance race in some pretty technical terrain. I rode a Trance 29. Personally I prefer a little extra comfort and control especially because I’ve got no shot at winning a race like that.
Great video series. These style bikes are the type that fit best for a majority of modern riding. Most mountain bikers buy a bike for the riding they wished they did, as opposed to the riding they actually do. For some reason they get really hung up on their image.
Brutal ending! Thanks for this showdown, will share with friends who love to do this weird stuff.
Hopefully I never need those bibs again.

Bank accounts are nice to have.
@@bikersedgeAwesome series guys but i have to ask.. I've watched your allied bc40 video a few times.. Where would it slot in with all these bikes??
I think it’s more “trail” than any of these.
@@bikersedge Thanks man..
That final move (throwing the XC staff in the bin) says it all, no words needed!
I’m more of a shorts and t shirt kind of guy.
@@bikersedge I was under the impression that throwing that staff in the garbage stands for your entire attitude towards XC
@finroddd I was pretty surprised at how much I enjoyed riding these bikes. Just not into wearing lycra.
@@bikersedge I believe you - probably because you rode such a good trails

Hey thanks. They are both quite a bit more trail than any of these.
Wow I'm honestly really impressed with the quality of your videos and the clean thumbnails keep it up!!
Hey thanks!
Great series and summary... You nail the ratio of detailed info, real life rider point of view and fun... and great storage bin for the lycra...
Hey thanks!
Thank you for this amazing video! Helped me a lot! I currently ride an XC Hardtail, but I wear baggy shorts and a regular sport t-shirt 🤣
Style points!
Such a great series of videos. Thanks for doing this as the Blur and Oiz were what I was deciding between as a trail rider getting into racing so I am going to test ride an Oiz and likely order one soon!
Glad you like them!
The last 30 seconds were pretty damn funny, well done lad!
Thanks! Seemed like the right thing to do.
I would love to see a comparison between the blur and a canyon lux trail
@@kjohnson00hd unfortunately won’t be able to make that happen. We won’t be able to get a canyon as a local bike shop.
@@bikersedge ah gotcha

No. I think it’s mostly a trail bike.
@@bikersedge I meant do you think the Spur is closer to XC than the Ripley?
No. I think it’s more trail than a Ripley.
Great vid. Any thoughts comparing the IBIS Exie to the bikes in review?
I’ve answered that one a couple of times in the comments. Flip through and you’ll find an answer.

Thanks! We don’t carry specialized so I haven’t been able to compare it to the Oiz.
I totally get that and appreciate your insight! From what I hear, the brain in the suspension on the Epic is a PITA. ;) @@bikersedge
You really should recycle those cans. :P Not looking for an XC bike but that ZFS-5 really looks interesting.
I’m just trying to offset the good liquid death does for the environment.
Great vids man 👍👍
I liked the bikes but I liked it better the trails, you are lucky living there 👍

It’s been too long since I’ve ridden that one. I’d like to say it falls on the more XC side of the scale.

what version of the blur did you test? XC or TR?
TR
Can you say where the Ibis Exie fits in with that last category, trail rider?

The range is going to be determined by how many pre ride burritos you consume
Curious how the Cervelo ZFS 5 would compare with the 100/100mm shock/fork on the climbs and flats. Seems like all the reviews are rocking the 120mm package.
Yeah. I'm a little curious to try one the 100/100 versions.

Same!
Awesome series. So, I race XC, but don’t want to have a bike just for racing if possible. Could you really see riding one of these bikes as a trail bike? Or am I just asking too much?
I think it’s going to be tough to find a bike that will race XC competitively and also do trail bike duty. There will always be compromises.
Scott Spark?
oiz h30 aluminum version on sale for 1900 rn, should i jump on that deal for an xc bike upgrade? Thanks!
That’s a solid price!
sounds like if giant would slacken out the anthem a degree and a half it would be right up there for the top spot.
And if they’d put a normal cockpit on there.
Just get the Trance 29. Way more comfortable and still pretty quick.
@@crazymv yeah I still think that’s quite a bit more trail than any of these
Which camera (on the trail) did you use for this video? Thanks.
GoPro Hero 11

Way more trail.
Where would the ibis exie fit into this?
Check some of the previous questions and answers about the Exie.

You should own a bike shop. You would be the best fitter ever.

You're not wrong.
why are you saying 'oiz' like oh-eeth
Ask the Spaniards. That’s how it’s pronounced.
