Between Gamehendge, Mexico, The Sphere, a forthcoming new album, and Mondegreen this summer Trey has had such a landmark year...much respect to The Piano Man for inviting Big Red to share the stage with him at Madison Square Garden! The Kings of New York!
Absolutely iconic MSG moment. Between Billy and Phish - there’s nobody else close to being able to call that room their home. Unreal to see them together on that specific stage!
David stop spreading this stupid rumor around. There was a picture of Trey with a Flyers jersey on backstage at the spectrum in philly and it didn't even have anything written underneath it.
this made my heart so happy - love billy and love trey. Glass Houses was one of the first rock albums I knew when I was nine and it came out. That second side is really special and this song is an all time fave of mine. Thank you!
That solo at the end of Television cooks like hell! Wow! This is awesome! Wish I had been there for this one, but decided against it as I’ve already seen Billy twice this year and have two more booked 😂
It’s about time they put the Phish/Billy Joel blood feud behind them after all these years. The body count was getting far too high for either side to sustain.
@@markkindermannart4028😂it really does tho. Sounds like when you're drunk off the strip at 1 am and wander into a club with a local BJ cover band But hey man God Bless em . All these kids who were too young to see Phish in their 90s Prime are just excited to see this guy anytime they can. I got no problem with it.
@hugh-jasole The kids nowadays are seeing Trey in his prime.I have been following Phish since the late 90s and those guys are just as good if not better now.The shows, the songs, the jams are quite impressive for this point in their career.
@@Ray-b7l He may be in a technical prime, but I think that is sort of the problem with Phish these days. It's almost so technically 'correct' that it has lost a sense of swing. I saw them at Nectar's in the late 80s, trust me, Trey was in a far better 'prime' back then.
Who is that guy on guest vocals? He looks like my math teacher and seems to be one second short of falling asleep during his guitar solo. The voice rather thin too.

It's great to see the owners of that building finally on stage together. Iconic moment 🔥
They may not be the owners of it, but they sure paid for it.
Best comment, and I worked there for a short time

On point with that take. Big up
Trey’s always so happy to play anytime, anywhere, and with anyone. He really respects other musicians, you can tell.
Always takes the right seat 💺

Well there's the Grateful Dead
Great point! I did the research. Billy 116, Phish 64 (tied with Elton), The Dead 52, and then DMB 49. So those two hold the crowns 🎉
Phish performed their 83rd concert at MSG this past New Years
@@bennyseegzphish is at 83 now
I stand corrected! Even more cool!
He’s just happy to be playing. Any time. Anywhere. Anything. He just loves playing music. Love to see it.
Amazing that it’s Billy Joel that got us a Trey Layla Solo ….Awesome
I am 🤓out.
He did it at MSG with Tedeschi Trucks last November.

The Garden’s most successful tenants working together
Amen
I thought the 2013 Blackhawks had the most success at the garden!

One of my favorite songs from Glass Houses that most people don’t know. Thx for posting:)
This is amazing!!!! Two of my all time favorites together!!
Playing the Layla outro HAS to be a nod to the fact they had a picture of Trey in the hall at MSG for a while with "Eric Clapton" written under it. 😆
Pretty sure it was the spectrum

MSG All-Stars right here! Love to see it.
Layla, iconic, sublime, what a great guitar song and love song

So awesome. Never thought I'd see the day. Love love love it
Very cool. Didnt think id see trey ever play with billy joel though.
The MSG All Stars!!
The war is over! ❤

I remember all
The hoopla about Billy talking trash about Trey.. the bullshiz that wasn’t real… this was awesome
Thanks for sharing. This is fantastic.

Should have played STASH !!!
This is absolutely amazing
So sick!!🎉
😮😢 Epic
Trey, you are ADORABLE!! ☺️
Now Phish should invite Billy to play a song during their next residency.
Zero percent chance
@ericfureal3257 you don't understand Phish or Billy.
That is a great idea.
I love this!
I wish smartphone microphones would catch up with smartphone cameras.
Some are much better than others...
Billy gonna do Squirming Coil on NYE with Page?

Sleeping with the Phish! 😆

No one ☝️ take Music more serious then @ Trey Anastasio

Could have been the next Bihgie vs 2Pac. Glad no one was murdered here
Pros.
Wow...When Worlds Collide
Did he call him Trey Anastayzee
Not on my bingo card!

Trey Astissi? What did he say?
Haha I replayed that part a few times too

If he’s gonna sing Code of Silence, it’s gonna be with Cyndi Lauper since she co-wrote the song with him and sang backup vocals on it.

Almost as good as Derek Trucks at age 13

I agree, it was like he was invading Trey's space, he did the same thing during the Encore. Still a very cool moment!!!
You don't know a single thing about the signature humility of Trey Anastasio then. He was thrilled and honored to be on that stage. Read the book.
It’s called playing a lead harmony, and it sounded good. The only hack here is the guy spouting off in the peanut gallery.
