      I actually think he provided a very self reflective analysis. He lived up at a time against literal Nazis; communism had not been attempted when he joined; many of them were in denial of what was actually happening under communism; and he remained a member because he didn’t want to dishonour the people who had died for what he once viewed as a righteous cause.
      He’s right that people don’t reflect upon how many died when they agree with the end result (fighting the Second World War, early capitalism, the exploitation which does happen under our current system) but he’s made to answer for believing in the same thing. That doesn’t mean he was right, but it should make us reflect on what we believe in, and we should be more aware of what motivates other people.
