@Fabrizio Garzi You think there will ever be another like 'Montserrat Caballe'?? No. Like Callas, she too was one of a kind and should be appreciated as such.
She's so very beautiful and chic. And I love how open and relaxed she is. Many of her counterparts have the same 'star quality', but she is one of the few who has a true charm about her, and it isn't forced. You just naturally gravitate towards her❤
This was when La Superba was at her finest. In 1970 she sang Don Carlo, Norma, Lucrezia Borgia, Maria Stuarda, Roberto Deveraux, and Il Pirata. That’s quite a repertoire!
@dsenRuskin I have you to thank for finding this video...I didn't realize it could be purchased until you mentioned it. I put up that part where she talks about her little boy..."Mommy, when you coming home? You sing too much..." This video and the interview in French (w/subtitles) I just adore.
This is so charming. When this was recorded she began singing Norma, she was already singing Il Pirata, Lucrezia Borgia, La Donna del Lago, and many others. She really was a soprano assoluta, and a true successor to Callas.
I wrote 1970, but I think it's actually 1971, from a BBC program called "Profile(s) in Music'' with Bernard Levin as interviewer . The a/v isn't the best, but it does capture her charming personality.
@sillyboydeux Well said...I couldn't agree with you more. Why it took almost a decade for her to be "discovered," I'll never understand. "Daughter of 'Norma" indeed :o)
"Callas is only one" So are you, Madame Caballe. So are you!
Callas e' sola e basta.
@@fabriziogarzi9892 Muy bien dicho❤❤❤❤saludos cordiales

You can hear the pianissima in her speaking. Magnificent soprano.
Honestly make her even greater! Te Adoro Caballé!
Sincere, honest, modest. Simply marvellous
Honest, modest and one of a kind just like Maria.

Very true. The world lost a real treasure in 2018 🥺🖤
Such a lady. Missing her a lot - funny, since I never even met her. But I do love and miss her anyway🖤

Thank you dear Jeanne for posting this interesting interview!!!!!
What an incredible woman!
Thank you so much!
Beyond words. A genius
Que dulzura... Montserrat era puro amor!

She doesn't know how majestically sung Casta diva 😭😭
My favorite Norma of all time. She had the perfect voice for it: strong, flexible, and maternal.
And she was the best Norma ever!

wooooooooooooooooooooow
She didn't know at that time what a legendary Norma she would make 4 years later
These 2 clips (Part 1 and Part 2) + Onegin65's uploads
= the entire program "Profile in Music" w//Bernard Levin.
She was a dreamed Norma ❤❤

❤🇱🇨!!!
I'm sorry but it's gotta be said: Montserrat Caballe is the best soprano since callas
Callas is ONLY ONE.
arnaldo carpio, Callas una sola.
😘

And yet, she was the best Norma ever recorded on stage.
I thought that was Dimitrova at first.
Nah, I like Dimitrova, but Caballe I worship.♥️
@@Jeanne90275 f course they sound nothing alike. I meant visually. Perhaps my eyes were playing tricks. And I also prefer Montsy by far.
