There is something humanizing about an educated, proper opera singer say fu*king. I also love his enthusiasm for teaching and helping others no matter the genre they end up choosing. I have enjoyed watching Charlotte and Johnathan grow and change. Johnathan is an extraordinary classical singer. I think people forget Charlotte did not start out singing opera and it is a world away from theatre style singing. The fact that she was able to hold her own with Johnathan was great and to see them support each other was inspiring and very endearing.
I couldn't help but notice the amazement and admiration of the person that was listening and coaching you two. I wish that I will be around in the next 10 years to hear you Jonathan and how your voice will grow with your age. You are truly amazing Jonathan and I can see nothing but wonders for you in the future.
You're having such a delightful time which brings smiles to my face. although, they've gone down their respective paths oh, I'm glad you stuck it out Britain's Got Talent.
It's wonderful to see how Jonathan has progressed since this Masterclass. He has graced the stage with Placido Domingo, performed at the Royal Albert Hall and had his own concert in the US! Canada next. ❤️
i love how this even this perceived "pro" is blown away by jonathans voice , it is so natural and effortless , everyone who he sings for has this same reaction
OMG, how uplifting Jonathan and Charlotte are. I wish them the greatest success. Two astonishing youngsters, I hope they inspire as many young people as possible!
Absolutely astonishing is right! I follow Jonathan, have listened every day to their first album "TOGETHER" and now "Perhaps Love"! I'm amazed at his every note, range, sound production, rich voice and incredible delivery! The surprises on Perhaps Love with his 3 superb solos are out of this world. I can't get enough!
Just imagine being 17 or 18 years old, being invited to another country to train with one of the best of your profession, given one bit of advice, and then told you are flawless. I wonder how long it took Jonathan to realize just exactly what that meant?
Look at all these professional opera coaches below commenting calling the guy a bad teacher and telling this kid not to take the world renowned singers advice. . Lol Johnathan just keep doin ur thing. Ull b one of the greatest
Great to be able to share Jonathon and Charlottes journey through success from the outset. They are mixing in the best of circles and already are head and shoulders above almost everyone on the planet, especially when you take their ages into account. Britain has got talent for sure,Harry Potter and now these two, brilliant
Grande Villazonn.!!!
Charlotte & Jonathan, you are amazing singers. I really love the way both of you sing. I wish you all the best. And, in the right moment, come to Brazil for a presentation. Would be great to see both singing here, in the other side of the ocean! Congratulations from Brazil.
WOOOOW what a professor!!!! I could note a great difference before and after they have been instructed by him. Charlotte is now using her real voice and it sounds muuuuuch better than her auditions. Really good
The title is "The Prayer". It is the song they performed during their first audition. You for "The Prayer by Jonathan and Charlotte [Full Album Version] " here on youtube and you can hear the version from their CD.
@@ALyub-dl6do , ludicrous comment and I suppose you're an opera snot who knows it all don't you?...🙄 Jonathan has one of the most natural Tenor voices I've ever heard unlike 90% of contemporary opera stars who sound mechanical and devoid of emotion.
He smiled especially when Jonathan sang that high Bb4. As a tenor he knew that this note is not an easy cake so it made him really fascinated about how well Jonathan projected it :)
I am so surprised and extremely happy to see these two face a real opera singer. I think that the two of them are wonderful individuals. I would like to see some American “singers” get humbled by a true classical vocalist. Excellent video!
Johnathon has an amazing voice but I knew once he took his chin off of his chest it would change his whole dynamic. Charlotte knew she wasn't an opera singer but she was willing to learn a different technique to get better. This is what a true performer. Willing to learn something new to better their craft.
Wow!!! I really wish I could study with Rolando Villazon. :) He's so knowledgeable and sees potential in his students. From what many singers have told me, it's true that you need to have a lot of patience to make it to where the top is. And I really hope for the best to both of the singers in this video!
Interesting voice. Interesting age. I wish him the best. He has the potential, but he will need a lot of work. The raw voice is quite good, it is rich and warm and he seems to have some ability with his softer voice. The voice seems to be somewhat like a baritone (not quite) but with the tenor range, I would love to hear more operatic arias in the future.
@@adamknight7041 Uhh.....note I wrote ‘is going to, ‘ not that Jonathan has surpassed him. BTW, it’s ‘professional operas,’ not ‘Opera’s.’ I suspect a genuine opera aficionado would know that.
@@lilimarlene7813 I genuinely don't think Jonathan will ever pursue Opera because he's too content with singing for Popera audiences and the casual listening public. He'll just be another Bocelli or Alfie Boe not a Pavarotti or Bjorling
It's so moving. I do hope he gets training and gets to pursue his dream. I think he should pursue opera, but he may need to work on a lot more than voice for that. In terms of money top opera singers are doing quite well, but it takes a lot of work, dedication and a bit of luck getting there.
(NOT Selena) lauren: Have long felt that it is sad that we as human beings must constantly make comparisons: larger/smaller, shorter/longer, etc. Why is it not possible for something, or someone to just stand on their OWN merit, or be their own category. Jonathan and Charlotte have beautiful God-given voices. We are so blessed and fortunate to be able to listen, and I hope whatever 'course' they decide to take that much joy will always be apart of their choice.
Talking about b flat. There's a recording here in TH-cam that compares the different b flats of different tenors. I accidentally saw it and Jonathan's b flat seem to sound very similar to Caruso..LoL..look for it it's actually the 1st one sang. It was suppose to be a guessing game. But its funny how all the tenor legends stood out among the rest. I meant I haven't really listened extensively to Caruso, pavarotti and Domingo but they are among the 5 I picked out as the beat of 20. I guess b flats says a lot about a tenor as much as a high c
I absolutely agree with you on the B flat topic. We usually measure a tenor's greatness by the power of their high C's. But it really takes a great tenor to sing perfectly controlled high Bb's, either pianissimo, fortissimo, with crescendo or diminuendo and with different vowels.
Jonathan is at a critical stage though. From the sound of his voice, it seems, that he has had excellent coaching and excellent training so far. His voice has a very deep timber and he is 17. The voice will start to get deeper as he ages. HE will have to adapt and right now, he is laying the foundation. The foundation can't be rushed. I think he should pursue opera, but only he can make that choice.
Finally it's pointed out that she's not an opera singer. Kept getting annoyed with the BGT interpretation that she'd hold Johnathan back when she's actually a great singer, just not an opera singer.
Oh my God...that's just from one class of a few hours, from one instructor. Both of you should be coached by some of the best in the business as often as possible, and seriously, there's a rainbow at the end of the journey for you both, and you're blessed to be starting with a legion of fans that will only grow! :) Find a path, stick with it and enjoy the experience!
Unfortunately I find Charlotte pitchy. Needs a good teacher/coach to help her overcome this. There really aren't any words to describe Jonathan's potential. When a teacher (as shown here) is blown away you know he is something special...
Currently what they are singing now is classical/pop crossover, what could be described as Popera if you like! Charlotte's voice isn't hugely operatic but its light and pretty sounding, definitely more musical theatre then opera house! Jonny's voice however is exceptional for a 17 year old, even Rolando conceeded he has the makings of an exceptional Tenor!
Interestingly, he recently visited the cemetery where Pavarotti's family is buried. He almost breaks down, and is moved and its at that point, he realizes the birthday of Pavarotti's son (the child who died at birth Riccardo) is the same birthday as his own, although of course Jonathan is older. I am sure he will remember that and of course, it almost seems like the door is opened for him.
(continued)...However whilst sticking with Charlotte as a duo in the short term is fine to enjoy some more commercial success, in the long run to be considered a legendary Tenor then Rolando is right he has to go his separate ways and study Opera full time and complete his education!
This young man has so much natural talent that it is beyond belief. Senor Villason is right I think- he could mature into a tenor of legend if he so chose. But I son't get a sense that he is interested in that. When he says "I just want to sing" I think he means "I just want to have fun." He's 17. The attention and little income he might be making is enough right now. There is still time.
What does my career have to do with it? I am glad if his career is back on track. Last time I heard he was on and off after his surgery, great one time then cancelling performances. But if his voice is completely back, I am most certainly happy for him. Incidentally, I am going to Met very often and know their schedule for this year very well, and I did not see his name on the roster. I'd certainly noticed as I would've bought the ticket as I'd love to hear him live.
