2:25 "Endings, we can take, as long as there are beginnings"
I really like that quote - growing up I never felt sentimental about my elementary/middle/high school worlds ending, because there was always the next world to plunge myself into. But when you don't know what's coming up next, it's hard not to look back and reminisce!

Hey Kath! Loved the video. I feel like this is up at a really good time since a bunch of folks are also graduating uni/school and moving on to new places. I graduated a full year ago and I remember how scared I was. I still struggle with endings. I’m going to struggle with endings for the rest of my life. But I like to think of life in seasons. Right now I’m in a season of change. It won’t last forever. But it will be until the seasons change. Sending love!

I’m with ya! At the moment I’m desperately needing a sense of community in my life. Like you, I’m also very much an extrovert and it’s been really difficult ever since I began working part-time since I have so much free time but not enough people in my life to fill it. Building community and making new friends feels so difficult sometimes.

My entire life as I know it is ending in the next few weeks. I, my parents and my sister are all ending jobs, leaving the town where I grew up and starting out on new life phases. It's an incredibly bittersweet time of life because I am getting everything I ever wanted, but my childhood is ending in this very particular way that's hitting me hard right now. I feel bad complaining at all when all of my dreams are coming true, but the thing they don't tell you is how conflicted it can feel. The right choice can still feel so painful because you're giving up comfort even if it was slowly killing you. I'm still making my peace with all of this change. I expected to be gung ho and in a lot of ways I am. But in others there's some grieving. It's a lot more complicated to leave than I expected when I was 18 and couldn't wait to get out of dodge. I'm not any less brave than I was then, I just have a greater capacity for the complexity of life, which makes things feel scarier. I hope I never forget that lesson and I continue to put my fear about the unknown into perspective.

My time in SF has just ended, but that’s because I chose to move to Spain to not only improve my Spanish, but to also be able to live daily life with some really close friends that at this point are like family :) Needless to say, there were quite a few points in your video today that hit upon my exact experience in this moment!

Ooh Kath - I miss you and love this vid! Since our Artist's Way chapter closed, I found out my og SF roomie + best friend would be moving out of our first and only apartment together come next month - the notice was quick, unexpected, and a lil existential to say the least. A little over a week later, I was then laid off from my job. So lemme tell you I FEEL YOU on endings!! Change is always hard, and blatant new beginnings make the endings easier to digest, but I've been trying to remember - isn't an ending inherently a beginning and vice versa? Weird times, but we will get through, and there's always something new to look forward to whether we realize it or not :) manifesting splendid new beginnings for us!!

I love to read, but I cannot commit to a book club. I only read at the laundromat, LOL. I'm farsighted, with an astigmatism, and strabismus. My eyes don't focus. I read with my left eye only. But my e-reader (my Kindle), helps so much. And I can't read regular print size anymore. Only on my Kindle, and large-print books. I'm also in a Bible study that takes up so much of my time. I used to play the clarinet. I'm in a choir, and it is so much fun. We're on summer vacation though. I'm in a really special group. A lot of us are ADA. (I have a mental illness, that's why I'm in it). We've been around a while like 10 years? I'd say. We have a picnic next week I can't wait for, they usually get it catered. I really like French. I found Spanish really hard in college, at the community college.

My ending is probably weirder that everyones but i have been house-bound since 2019 and now my father is sick and i need to step up, put my big girl pants and work, but it is so scary because i dont have any experience, no passion whatsoever, no degree, no friends to help me, no conections and i dont even know if someone will hire me in this whole job chaos thingy we are in rn, but like you say, i have proof that i will survive this, i will shit my pants in the process but maybe it will be better, hopefully

So happy you’re beginning something as lovely as learning a new language 🐝, wishing you good vibes for that. I hope to be fluent in Spanish someday. Also, the book club sounds so nice, I understand the little dopamine part and loved the piano with it and footage just so great! Continue hanging in there Kath and beyond. (Also love love love those clear glasses so cute!)

I feel this 100%. I’m from California but currently live in Germany. At the beginning of this month a few friends flew out from California for a week and we had such an awesome time. After they left I was pretty down, as I haven’t been able to build community here in Germany like I had back home.
But yeah I agree, I just want to be around my friends all the time 😆
And absolutely LEARN MORE LANGUAGES. It is so worth it. I speak Spanish and German and being able to do so has opened so many doors for me.

When you talked about finding a new hobby, I was going to suggest learning a new language. It’s such a rewarding experience! It’s not just the big end goal, but also the process that brings me joy. I love learning new words every day, and noticing my progress over time. However, the best feeling is when you’re suddenly able to notice the big leaps: for example, someone was speaking to me in French and I was completely somewhere else in my mind but somehow I still knew what he was saying to me. Or when you can finally understand the conversations you’re overhearing on the metro. Hopefully you’ll find it just as a rewarding experience as I do!

Hello Miss Katherine, you are a very strong person my friend!! I believe that you will do well. Sometimes good things come to an end in life, but it means that a new chapter is among you, and it will be a good chapter. Things are ending for me, im leaving my old house and moving to a different house, after 20 years of living in the same house, we are selling our house and planning to live somewhere else, it's bittersweet, but im excited for it to come.

I don't know if you are Christian or not. But we were talking about faith tonight in the Bible study. Faith in knowing that you will make it and stuff. Even if you don't know exactly where you are going. Hebrews 11. We literally read the entire chapter 11 in Hebrews. Maybe this will help? My close Christian friend has the same name as my new Christian friend. The other one passed. It's like the world is looking out for me.

This is interesting because on Sunday I was learning about Abraham’s faith when God asked him to sacrifice his son. He didn’t know that he was being tested but he said “Here I am” fully committing to what he was told to do.

Hello! I love all of your videos and you inspire me to radically love others.
In two months I have a big ending/beginning coming my way. I’m about to leave high school here in the US, and it’s always been my dream since I was small to leave the country, as someone who’s in love with languages. But in moving to the Netherlands, I’ll be leaving everyone I know behind-and especially my closest friend, who I’ve been through so many ups and downs of life with and is the only person who I feel really sees me and who I can be my authentic self around. I know this isn’t the end for us, but it’s heartbreaking to think we might never live in the same city again. At the same time, I’m so excited to start living the life I’ve always wanted for myself.
Thank you again for all that you do, your videos have hit close to home for me and inspired me in these times of change and uncertainty in my life

Cuba is beautiful and my people are amazing -- but usually all of the money that tourists give to cuba just ends up in the pockets of the regime and doesnt go to the people :/ the conditions for cuban citizens are atrocious and many of them are starving/living in horrible conditions. While i love my island, i think it would be great if you reconsidered who you give your money to
