Some tips not touched on in the video: - You don't need to type "and" between search terms: `is:solar and is:sidearm` is the same as typing `is:solar is:sidearm` - You can negate entire search stringns, not just 1 term at a time e.g. `-(is:solar is:sidearm)` will show everything that is not a Solar sidearm. - DIM has many useful keyboard shortcuts that make using it lightning fast, some notable ones: V sends a selected item to the vault, P sends a selected item to your currently active character, Shift + numbers 1-5 is the shortcut for tagging an item (Shift+3 for tag:junk).

@@JaredSchnelle 😂 well good work! I knew basically everything he talked about already. By default I had weapons grouped together but this setting puts a separator between them making it easier to find types. Game changer! 🙌

Important useful DIM tip: you can use naming-tags to have subsets or categories as part of loadouts For example, if multiple loadouts are related to encounters of a raid (I.e: Last Wish Encounter 1, Last wish Encounter 2 .... etc) you can prefix the name of the loadout: #LW , this way, when clicking the "loadouts" section, at the top, between "in-game loadouts" and "dim loadouts" it will show these clickable buttons which are categorically assigned to the naming of your loadouts So if you have 5 Last Wish loadouts all prefixed with "#LW" , when you click the "LW" button in the _loadouts_ section, you will ONLY see loadout names with "LW" in the title Probably explained this in a lengthy way, but tried to cover all basis, lots more stuff not shown/discussed in videos but essential QoL stuff are mentioned here and on Aegis' vid Also as solid as this vid is, Aegis has made a super in depth guide where he covers other bits and bobs, worth checking out his video too :) None cover everything, but good to start out

Being retired, I semi retired my computer years ago and simply use my iPhone for mostly everything When I tried to use DIM I got lost in the various commands needed and simply went back to the Tower Going to give it another try and maybe look at a tutorial as Bungie does not make the Tower Vault very useful At the same time, going to my vault in the Tower is nostalgic for me and a comfort zone as things are very visually larger and simpler to find as I am used to it
This is informative, and ole Adam here genuinely appreciates it, but there’s one thing I need more than anything else and I don’t think DIM or anything else does it: How can I tell if I have a useless piece of armor? And by “useless” what I mean is, consider I have two pieces of chest armor that are completely identical in every stat distribution EXCEPT one has 25 mobility and the other has 26 mobility. Obviously I would want to dismantle the 25 mobility stat armor, but that necessarily assumes I’m aware of the redundancy. So the “dupe” search wouldn’t work since they’re not exactly identical, but there’s potentially a lot of wasted space in my vault and many others that have simply failed to notice. Please help me with my quandary Mr Cross. I throw myself upon the mercy of your vast powers.
I used d2armorypicker for years, but realized yesterday how good it was in DIM when using others loadout to even calculate and fit the mods at the same time, super pog.
i have used light,gg and D.I.M for years and never really explored much about them aside from vault and character inventory. I never knew how useful these 3rd party apps could be. Definitely learned alot from this. Thanks!
Tip: create class specific custom stat total. Then use quick compare for new (exotic) armor on most important stats. E.g. I main warlock and use a (base) custom stat total of resilience, discipline, recovery.
Been using Dim for years and I haven’t messed with many of the settings. Big appreciate the video, sometimes it’s hard to find weapons even with the search with having a maxed vault most of the time.
Honestly, DIM's loadout optimizer is so much better, as all you need to do is equip all the mods you want along with the exotic in-game, then click "Optimize." Choose stat distribution, and boom, everything is equipped with one click
DIM is amazing, the only command I wish they could add would be a way to see if any of your weapons can roll with certain perks. Like if I'm hunting for something that can roll "wellspring" and "voltshot," I can type it in and see if any of my crafted weapons can be made with that combo.
Great video. I wanted to add that as a beginner I look for the little thumbs up symbol to see what more experienced players recommend as a good/God Roll weapon.
Another useful string is: -is:equipped is:incurrentchar is:weapon That will highlight all weapons (or is:armor) not equipped on current character and then you can click the 3 dots & chose "move to vault" if you want to do some house-cleaning to make room for your loadout items (or farming).
And yet destiny content creators and streamers say it’s not enough content. I honestly think at this point they should go outside get a job and have and spend time with kids or significant other and workout. 😅
For comparing tons of item I recommend to use organizer tab in DIM. There you view items vertically instead of horizontally as in usual compare. You can select specific columns in organizer to see relevant info. For example, for armor I have enabled columns Name, Tier (rarity), Mod slot (raid mod, artifice, etc.), Base stats (there is Stats column which shows current stats), Loadouts (in which loadouts item is present) and Notes. You can click at columns to sort item using respective values. When opening organizer, you select armor or weapons, then you select weapon/armor type. You also can use search bar to limit viewed items even more.
It's also super helpful for determining how close you are to having the red borders needed to be able to craft - handy when selecting the last one you need that's 'meh' or you snag a red-border you didn't need (cuz you got the 5th one while running the raid/activity)
A few things I didn't see mentioned: -After selecting all of tag:junk (for example) you can click on the three vertical dots at the right side of the search bar and choose to send all of your current search query to your character… and it will automatically vault every item you have on you to make space for the incoming items if you don't have the space. Way faster than dragging if you have more than a few things you want to scrap. -Custom stat total is a great feature in the options for looking at a range of base stats at once as a single number. I have a warlock preset (res/rec/dis) and a trials preset (res/rec/int) that makes armor comparison incredibly simple-used to have to whip out the calculator and write down values before I discovered this feature.
Aegis also has a pretty solid video tutorial about DIM that can help a lot as a competitive speedrunner, though he is quite strict on what stays and what doesn’t so keep that in mind
Most simple searches don't need "and" or "or" you can just do things like "is:solar is:sidearm" or "is:weapon count:>5" which is super helpful for cleaning out items you have the most of. Edit: Armor picker is great at showing you the best stats for a loadout, and helping you not waste stat points. DIM is better at helping you conceptualize a loadout from stats to mods to aspects and fragments. DIM also allows you to see cooldowns based on anything that can alter them (Bastion barricade or Unbreakable grenade for example).
Maybe it's not on the level of DIM, but the Little Light app for phones it's just amazing. The UI is really good an not overwhelming. To look for weapons, you can filter by slot, damage type, ammo type, archetype, rarity, search for perks or gun names, etc. Same for armor You can look for possible rolls on any given weapon, search for triumphs and seals, create loadouts, keep tracked of completed weekly activities. Just adding my grain of sand for those who may still dont want to use DIM for whatever reason
One feature that didn’t get mentioned is in the settings. It’s called custom totals. You can create a custom total based on a global amount or per class It allows you to pick what stats you prioritize and gives you total of those stats combined to further clean out any trash stat combos
This is a video I didn't know I wanted to see. These websites don't exactly have guides themselves (unless I just closed the pop-ups). The loadout saves and weapon comparisons are too good to ignore.

I have been on the fence about using 3rd party apps. but after coming back to D2 over and over again this time around i will be using it to make my playthrough this time way more enjoyable. doing everything on the game is time consuming and makes me not wanna play sometimes.
192 combination of class item, (and yes, we'll only keep several for each class), several good ergo tools, this season craftable weapons from the raid, HELM, world drops, new and updated trials and ritual weapons, 6 new exotic armour, several new exotic weapons. In this update alone. The last vault Expansion came witch queen, pre crafting weapons era. Especially bad for people who play both pve & PvP, saving multiple rolls to deal with each of some weapons. Im near 150 craftable weapons myself. Then consider armour. Every raid has unique armour that can insert raid mods. Who has the space to try build a set of each?! Bungie could help alot by allowing us to pull any ergo and clad armour we have collected in collections. They could add a raid slot to every armour piece to allow us to use the raid mods without having to collect so many different sets. Otherwise, the extra 100 slots was woefully inadequate. The constant tweaking skills/perks along with how bloody hard it is to get the class roll you want means we will all hang on to several nearly good enough pieces for future use because we all know we are one update and or seasonal artifact mod from becoming s tier for a season
Been using these tools forever, they are a lifesaver. But frankly, my problem is not management, but analysis. I'm not enough of an expert to know what I want to keep, so every time I start looking at my vault, I'm overwhelmed by information that I don't know how to rank.
We need to have just one class item and each time we unlock a new perk combo, those perks become selectable (two columns to allow the 8x8). The vault becomes way less cluttered and you can swap on the fly. Better.
To me its annoying that the Vault can't Filter by Damage and Ammo Type. If I am in Orbit and I need a Solar Special Weapon for example I'd like to just quickly open the Vault and filter by SPECIAL / SOLAR and choose what i want
Contrary to what Forcer69 says, if you're hesitating on something if you should delete it or not, flip a coin. Heads delete, tails keep. If you land on one or the other, and that you don't feel strongly against the result, then it means flipping the coin wouldn't make a difference. If you feel against its result, then you have your answer.
The following command let's you know which weapons can't have enhanced perks, so I deleted those, with a few utility execeptions: -(is:enhanceable or is:exotic or is:crafted or is:craftable) This is helpful if you don't mind deleting weapons that are power crept.
After 2 weeks of playing Destiny 2 and stashing everything in the vault since I didnt know what is good and what not, I got overwhelmed when I reached 650 items in the vault.. with the ideea to stop playing because I dont wanna mess with it. Slowly I started learning to use this 3rd party website tools and they sure help.. there's alot of micromanagement.. somehow counterintuituive for a game like Destiny 2. Afterall this is a game made for consoles, even if you can play on pc as well.
DIM is most valuable tool to organise your Destiny 2, weapons, armor and other related resources. Anyone playing Destiny 2 without using DIM are at a huge disadvantage. I can even say its not possible to effectively organise everything properly. To visualise and categorize weapon archetypes, element type, Impact, affinity and alot which I missed can become so easy to manage by custom view options available for player. In short FANTASTIC stuff, I am surprised (pleasantly) that it is free to use and independant. Please start using it now, spend some time and you will see the rewards.
(is:craftable is:patternunlocked -is:crafted -tag:keep -tag:favorite) This is a small part of my clean-up query. All craftable items from which I have the pattern unlocked, without crafted weapons.
Since I’m on console and don’t have a PC I use Ishtar for the most part to just transfer things when I’m not in orbit and I only use DiM for loadouts when I use D2 armor picker or when a new gun drops and I want to look for the god rolls
Just earlier today I looked at my vault storage and it’s 600/700 and i started thinking “I gotta start making space eventually.” I just got back into it like a week and a half ago after nearly a 3 year hiatus. Prior to July 14 my last game was a broodhold strike September 27 2021. I got a lot of stuff do get my hands on so I gotta prepare.
Please for the love of GOD, if you are close to capped on vault space, and your postmaster is holding over 50% capacity, offload gear into alt characters befor creating/loading a loadout. I have lost 50 prisim's, 5 shards, and a bunch of resources because DIM will allow you to automatically dismantle items if you don't have the spaces free on the character you are transferring to. I do not know if this has been fixed, but I learned the hard way.
Destiny has gotten so much harder since like destiny 1. even prison of elders was pretty tough but nothing like destiny today. Between the last 3 expansions, there were about a dozen moments where i thought about giving up on destiny just because mechanics werent explained to me in story missions or i just didnt know where it wanted me to go
Amazing video, thanks @Aztecross! Do you have any tips regarding wish lists? Like which one you use, or if you have one that follows the recommendations you give in your review videos? Love the content.
For a new player i find it hard to understand weapon perks and their combos. Simple reason is that theres bunch of loot you get every run, but you dont have a plstform where you could try out every gun like a shooting range. On top of that, i would love if destiny had more controller settings: different response curves etc.
I donate to DIM and Foundry regularly. They contribute almost as much to the d2 experience as bungie themselves.
the only reason i still play is because of dim. if i had to leave and go to orbit every time i needed something i would go play warframe
This is such a good idea

The only time he touches them is if they have like 13 copies of a PvP gun and he’ll just be like “hey, is it possible to delete some of them?” The content creators delete the guns of their own volition, he doesn’t force people to do anything
@@tinystar3010 Most rolls can not get you through pve lol. If you say that, you can say the same for pvp. Just be good. His cleaning advice is even better now because there's nothing to be afraid of getting unsunset.
video suggestion: can you see if you can make a build focused around high transcendent build up to basically always be transcendent while also using the increased grenade cooldown from being transcendent while ALSO using the tesselations grenade feature. to basically have endless damage reduction from transcendent and endless grenade charges for tesselation
Dim for load outs, Ishtar commander for faster item switching, and little light for godroll weapon finding via its weapon builder.
I have been on the fence about using 3rd party apps. but after coming back to D2 over and over again this time around i will be using it to make my playthrough this time way more enjoyable. doing everything on the game is time consuming and makes me not wanna play sometimes.
Bless up Cross! Didn't know you could sort by type!
DIM is in a league of its own! The best thing since sliced bread! Credit to whoever created this.
DIM is a godsend of a tool! Props to the devs behind that for sure, bc they have done an awesome job.
Ishtar Commander is my go-to for my phone. DIM is the best on PC for sure.
Great video. I use this tools every day, but you told me some new stuff. ❤
Better.
OMG Group by item type. MIND. BLOWN.
To me its annoying that the Vault can't Filter by Damage and Ammo Type.
If I am in Orbit and I need a Solar Special Weapon for example I'd like to just quickly open the Vault and filter by SPECIAL / SOLAR and choose what i want
D2 armor picker revolutionized pvp for me, I had no idea I had triple 100 builds available.
"Or in my case, 12 origin stories." This resonates with me and my vault
Contrary to what Forcer69 says, if you're hesitating on something if you should delete it or not, flip a coin.
Heads delete, tails keep. If you land on one or the other, and that you don't feel strongly against the result, then it means flipping the coin wouldn't make a difference. If you feel against its result, then you have your answer.
I'll leave all my weapons and take a clean-slate fresh-start Destiny3 if they implement an item manager _IN GAME_
Dim also has a mobile app as well. If your on console, you can use your phone to transfer over weapons and armour.
The following command let's you know which weapons can't have enhanced perks, so I deleted those, with a few utility execeptions:
-(is:enhanceable or is:exotic or is:crafted or is:craftable)
This is helpful if you don't mind deleting weapons that are power crept.
Such a fundamental system that isn’t in the game is beyond all of us
DIM is most valuable tool to organise your Destiny 2, weapons, armor and other related resources.
DIM loadout optimizer is how I make build,. It’s super easy and reliable. If you’re not using DIM you are missing out.
(is:craftable is:patternunlocked -is:crafted -tag:keep -tag:favorite)
This is a small part of my clean-up query. All craftable items from which I have the pattern unlocked, without crafted weapons.
What the hell Cross, as a Veteran 10 year D2 player even I learned a few DIM tricks that I didn't know 😅 Thanks!
Love the mingo gif.
Shout out to the little light app! As a console gamer it's my tool of choice
11:08 the best tip of all. LMAO
Since I’m on console and don’t have a PC I use Ishtar for the most part to just transfer things when I’m not in orbit and I only use DiM for loadouts when I use D2 armor picker or when a new gun drops and I want to look for the god rolls
@Aztecross Do you custom make your dim wishlist yourself or do you use a premade one? Voltron one is ok but ive been looking for a way to improve it.
I don't think I've ever donated funds to anything as much as I've donated to the DIM developers. Those people are the true MVPs.
Bro as a vet player this video is actually gonna make protecting Sol so much easier
Great vid cross!!!
S/o to Destiny Recipe as well for the preseason preppers
Thank you for the tips! these help!
Why is this my first time seeing the Sabo "I ain't reading all that" meme and I'm caught up on one piece lmaoooo
amazing video!!! super helpful
Every New Light needs to watch this
Great tips ! THANKS !!
For a new player i find it hard to understand weapon perks and their combos. Simple reason is that theres bunch of loot you get every run, but you dont have a plstform where you could try out every gun like a shooting range. On top of that, i would love if destiny had more controller settings: different response curves etc.
How about making exotic class items? Just be able to pick what 2 exotic traits you want to use. All these stupid class items are taking up space.
Thank you 🎉
Create an Aztecross Curated Wish List for DIM. May be one for PvE and one for PvP. I would use that.
I wish DIM had a way to show hearted items in a separate column in from the vault
