  • I'm a bit overdue in posting video for my HO trains. Here's a quick overview and update, including mods to my dead rail cabs, room access, and a bit of explanation of my lighting.

    I really like the shelf/bookcase under your layout. And you are too modest, the layout is great (video and/or photo) The viaduct is impressive. The car cards with picture of the car is a great idea. Another good idea is the neck strap. That was quite informative the dead rail system. Good point about the lighting. Great update. Cheers. Syl

      The actual Tunkhannock is quite a marvel! I just did a very small version out of MDF. Thank you Syl! Your last couple videos have really made me laugh with your humor and excellent modelling. Stan

      Thanks, Ron! It's in the house, not the garage or shop, so I have to keep it somewhat tidy and not too intrusive.

    Thank you for sharing. It is always enjoyable to see your layout but you must show the plane that is hanging from the ceiling, are you a RC flyer? I too enjoy the hobby of flying. Trucks, and ho trains as well. My wife said I am just a big kid in a man's body. LOL, but I do enjoy the hobbies.

    • @StanFerris

      I haven't flown RC in quite a while. I started with unpowered gliders, and then got into a couple gas powered planes plus a handful of small electrics. I have a quarter scale super cub that I never finished. The trainer in the background is electric and had a number of nice flights. I tricked out the landing gear a bit. I'm guilty as charged like you. I have too many hobbies to keep them all going at once! I even tried hang gliding for my mid-life crisis. 😄

    ¡Hola buenas tardes Stan! I have a complaint..........That video was far too short. You had me so engrossed, seeing the entire length of the shelf layout was great. I am sure other subscribers would have welcomed the chance to grab a few cans of beer or, a coffee or three and, let you run though a shunting session to show off the layout. I have to admit spending hours just moving wagons and coaches around on my own layout, arranging trains and organising routes. Please consider a few sessions of videos dedicated to the layout in more detail. OK, rant over. Thanks again for the showing and, as ever, stay safe and well. Un saludo. Gary

      Thank you, Gary! Yes, I have been remiss in not posting more HO stuff. If I post more, then you must as well! 😁 Blessings, and take care, Gary.

      @@StanFerris You’re absolutely correct on my recent posting silence. There’s certainly been enough work done on the layout and, I must push myself to edit some content for a video update.

    That little locomotive sure does run nice and slow!
    I'm guessing that the battery and electronics are in the coal hopper?

    • @StanFerris
      @StanFerris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Amber. On the little Plymouth all the goodies are in the coal car. On my S4's there is room under the hood. I have a few videos that explain in detail how I adapted from DCC to battery. Thanks for stopping by!

    No power to the rails, where are the batteries for the locomotives and how do you charge 'em?
    I'm guessing that the batteries are in a permanently coupled to the locomotive car....

    • @StanFerris
      @StanFerris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kent! So, since I already had the typical DCC in the rails (NCE) I use that to charge the batteries in my converted locos so I don't have to plug them in anywhere. Just leave them parked on a known "clean" area of the layout. 😁 The type of power supply I got from S-Cab can take DCC and convert it. On my S4 Bachmanns there's just enough room under the hood and cab for the decoder, battery, and power supply. The little plymouth has the gear mounted in the coal car that remains attached to it. For details on the installations and performance, look back in my video "Trains!" playlist. Thanks for stopping by! Stan

    4:34 It's dangerous to hand-hold an item while drilling! You shouldn't even show it in the video.
