Focke Wulf Fw 190 1/48 Eduard + Brassin vs. Tamiya + Aires

- Focke Wulf Fw 190 is one of the most famous fighter from the German Luftwaffe from world war II. In the 1994 Tamiya released this model and few years on firm Aires prepared details, which allowed to open an engine and gun baysl. These sets were best for building detailed Fw 190. Company Eduard in 2017 released a new building kit Fw 190. In its production under the Brassin series, it has also released a lot of accessories, including the open BMW 801 engine. In this video, I will try to demonstrate, how the quality of models and accessory kits has shifted over the last twenty years. Although the set by Aires is much more detailed, it's harder to build and they are for experienced modelers. Accessories from Brassin is for wider public and they are more pleasant for building. The same goes for models. Although I like kit Fw 190 by Tamia, kit by Eduard won. So you can watch my fight between Eduard + Brassin vs. Tamiya + Aires.

You're definitely up there with the best modelers I've ever seen! Amazing work!
Both are equal to the skill level you have applied - in certain countries, especially with import delays and even restrictions, certain kits and the associated aftermarket goodies are at hand and easy to acquire - for example, here in my country, Eduard kits and accessories like Master Models Brass Barrels are prolific, so this has a bearing on the kits and builds I undertake whereas, conversely, Tamiya kits & and paint's, including MRP Lacquers are almost non - existent - held up in containers awaiting customs clearance, while CSI Creos /Mr Hobby stuff is abundant and regularly restocking as with Eduard (the Spitfire Story Duel Combo is in surplus #11143, the Mk1a Profipack #82151 and now the MkIIa /MkIIb 'Tally Ho' likewise in abundance and not selling! - All the Eduard Fw190 versions are stocking constantly as well as, ironically, the Tamiya kit you have featured!!!) It can go beyond the pale of choice and become the domain of the available! kudos on both builds, they rock :)

@@DetailsScaleModels I actually have such a huge stash of kits including the Tamiya Mk1 Spitfire and P38F/G... and materials that I want for nothing - I foresaw the problems associated with the pandemic and stocked up - this is the wisdom that comes with 58 years! My observations were based mainly on Tamiya, at present, and Airies! Who doesn't love what Eduard and GSI Creos are doing! My supplier is one of the biggest set ups in the world and I refuse to name them here - LOL! Thanks for the reply and keep the wonderful content coming, you are eating up some hefty ego's on this forum :)

Until recently, I used a Badger 100F with a 0.25mm nozzle. After fifty years, it needs repair ...

But have you tried the Eduard 190 "Tan plastic" kit? No locating pins or location marks, but plenty of detail. And no fun to build. It'll eat up your patience, stick with it, the end result is worth it. Remember though no sag on elevators or ailerons, rudders remain neutral, they are all controlled by rods, not cables. Both came out beautiful. Bravo & Congrats!
Thanks for the feedback. Series Fw 190 from new forms I consider as one of the best plastic kits in a 1/48 scale. The building of older series of Fw 190 by Eduard is much more difficult to build. I built 26 Fw 190 by myself by many different and I´m looking forward to build another! Thanks for the notice.
Things have changed in ways I cant believe! But very happy with the modelling world today. Cant say the same for the real world though lol

Excellent video! I am also building the Eduard kit right now. Can you explain your technique for applying the decals to the cowling? It looks like it was quite precise and ended up spectacular! Thanks for all you do!

Zdravím, opravdu je Aires o tolik detailnější? Já jen když se podívám na ty jednotlivé kryty tak mi přijde zpracování eduardu a jeho řady brasin výrazně dál, jinak je opravdu pravda že pasovat sady od airesu bylo vždy velmi intenzivním zážitkem a proto jsem rád za ty puzzle od Eduardu :). Samozřejmě klobouk dolů, jste výborný modelář a doufám že někdy postavím takto kvalitní model.
Děkuji za pochvalu. Na sadě Aires se mi nejvíce líbí napasování přepážky, která je až k potahu trupu. U Brassinu je tam plastová stěna a na její hraně chybí detaily. Nejpatrnější je to u trupových zbraní. Aires má také slabší kryty. Jasně, detaily na sadě Aires nejsou tak výrazné a přesné jako na Brassinech. Předloha vznikla ještě ručně. Současné sady vznikají 3D tiskem. A práce s takto starým setem od Airesu je, to každopádně...

Which kit did you find easier to Bild? ... I have not had good experiences with Edward Kits in the past (but they were older kids)
NEW Edward´s Fw is clearly the best. Don't confuse it with older series kits.

Is Fw 190 A4 detailed set by Brassin fit for Fw 190 A3 Tamiya ?
No, Brassin is only for the Eduard model. For the Tamiya model, there is again only a detailset from Aires. Using a Brassin detailset for the Tamiya model would mean a lot of adjustments.

You should let the captions text stay for a few more seconds, also picture transition slower, I struggled with reading and looking at the pictures at the same time. Need more time

Ever heard of or used the 'pause' toggle... a must use to really spend the requisite time to examine a build post if you need to see more for longer - the production and post featured ROCK... shoe some appreciation! kindest regards :)
