- Scissor haircut at Electric Barbering which is the only barbershop on Route 66 in Williams, Arizona. Williams is known as the “Gateway to the Grand Canyon” and is a small town with a population of a little over 3,100. Calen Koenig, the shop owner, grew up in Williams but moved away to Portland for ten years before returning to his hometown.
In 2019, Calen opened Electric Barbering - a place for the community to enjoy. He feels it is very important to make a difference in somebody's day and wants people to look forward to walking through his door.
“People can come to the barbershop and it can change their day,“ Calen says, “I like that it is that kind of an experience. You can be having a bad day and come and get your hair cut and it can lift you up.”
Calen wanted his barbershop to be timeless and inviting, and it’s a place that reflects his personal interests as well.
He grew up playing in a local rockabilly band and keeps his guitar and double bass in the barbershop. Now and again, Calen will play a few tunes between customers. He’s also really into vintage trucks and motorcycles 🏍

As a proud Phoenician….I have to say I think this is one of Harry’s best haircuts. That gentleman’s scissor work is tremendous, well done.

This is soooooo relaxing. I have always enjoyed my hair getting pampered. The sounds of the scissors. The stylist playing with my hair. Ahhhhh. Absolute Heaven.
A rarity indeed to see barbers who trust their hands to gauge length and distance rather than buzzers and combs. This barber was exceptionally detailed and talented. I play these videos when giving my son his night bottle as I lay him down to sleep - they always calm him down and help him rest. Thank you for all that you and the folks at the channel do, Harry.

There's lots of scientific opinion that blue light stimulus to the eyes stops the usual sleep/tiredness process, it's why they say you should stop looking at screens an hour before bedtime. An ipad/tablet is not a suitable substitute for a nightlight or bedtime story from a parent.
The ticking of the clock just adds to the sleepiness!

From what I gathered. Seems like the ring finger stay in there constantly, the thumb lets go of it and he flicks it down. How he gets it back on the thumb so quick is kind of neat though.
Like @NoVaKane said, it's not hard. Surgeons do this, too (which I suppose makes sense since early surgeons were barbers). But he's definitely very quick at it and, generally, a very skilled barber. As Plague Doc put it, the ring finger stays in the whole time and is a bit flexed to keep it from sliding out. He catches the shears with his pinky, and flicks it back in place with the help of the pinky and hand movement. If you practice, you'll see that there's actually a lot of control.
Its just practice ... and muscle memory. Five minutes of trying wont give you the skill ... but a few dozen hours gets you the rhythm ... and after that the speed.
As a very similarly styled barber myself, I can tell you this is by far the best haircut I've seen Harry receive. Bravo!

damn, this guy is skilled. the way he uses his hand as a clip and cutting the hair by quadrant and angles is so satisfying to watch!
I always prefer to see a barber use the scissors, almost anyone can buzz cut with electric clippers but with scissors every cut is measured and requires skill plus it’s great ASMR.
I give this a 9/10 and it’s personally one of my favourite videos from those you’ve made Harry.

Im a licensed barber in the state of Illinois and I always watch these videos for education. I like taking bits and pieces from barbers and adding them to my services. The hot lather machine is hard to come by nowadays, great touch from the barber. Thanks for the videos Harry. If you’re ever in Illinois I would love to cut your hair.
