    "This movie is made for the fans."
    ACCURATE. VERY VERY DAMN ACCURATE. I'm fed up with people saying this movie is not good because it's "not for everyone". NEWSFLASH, BITCHES. It IS not for everyone. IT'S. FOR. THE. FANS.

    Great review! A lot of DBZ fans are disappointed in this film because they say there is too much story and not enough action.
    To them, I say watch the previous 16 Dragon Ball Movies cause this is not for you. This was a perfect love-letter to all the anime fans that grew up with the original Dragon Ball and watched Goku's journey all the way through Dragon Ball Z. It's about the characters, not the action!

    My favourite DBZ movie to date. I was so surprised at how funny and clever the writing was, and I loved Goku's character development, as well as the twists and turns the film took from the usual DBZ formula, which really surprised me. They play with our expectations by not repeating the formula or changing it, but BENDING it.

    While DBZ is a big part of Anime as a whole considering it is one of the most popular, Anime is Japanese animation, not all anime are like Dragon Ball, they're just animated similarly. So if DBZ isn't your cup of tea, try something else, you may like it.

    man I cant get over how amazing battle of gods was it was nice to be around people who understand how much dragon ball z means to us I cant believe I had tears of nostalgia at the credits heck the whole movie because it reminded me of the 20 years dragon ball series has touched our hearts thank you akira toriyama for all your hard work in giving us all you had to offer of the dragon ball series I felt like a kid again may you always be remembered through all time.

    Being a fan of Dragon Ball Z ever since I was a kid, this movie was great. No matter how many people hate it, there's always someone that has to nitpick things and complain. Going down the comments talking about how Super Saiyan God form was a huge disappointment or how it was boring and blah blah blah. Like Chris says, the animation alone makes it amazing. There were not that many fight scenes of course, but why indulge on senseless fight scenes? Sure, DBZ is mostly fighting, but this movie offers a lot more than just that. One being talk about a DBZ deity which you rarely ever hear about. Also not to mention the villain himself being overpowered, so much so that Goku lost the fight and gave up; When usually Goku somehow gets stronger right before he loses and beats his opponent. There was also a lot of character development as well. They showed sides of the characters that are barely shown and it brings sort of a comic relief to the old fashion beat downs. Out of all their movies and the GT nonsense, I would rate this as being one of the best DBZ movies in a long time. Oh and before I forget, the SSJ God form not being all epic and over the top was actually not a bad change. I prefer the simplicity over how they normally do saiyan transformations. And the fact it resembled Goku's kaio-ken form made it even better.

    • @TheSwordfish009
      @TheSwordfish009 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thomas Lanton Just a nitpick? Then let me list you problems that made the movie horrible.
      1) Only about 15 mins of fighting
      2) A 15 min subplot of the 3 child characters stealing the Dragon Balls that added nothing to the story
      3) Goten and Trunks are at the wrong age. They still look 7 years old though they're supposed to be pussy-getting teens.
      4) Another villain that wants to blow up the planet for no reason. Over pudding? Seriously?
      5) None of the characters besides Goku had some fight time. Vegeta had a bullshit scene. And Vegeta was completely out of character twerking for Beerus. I know they wanted to show Vegeta's fear and respect towards Beerus but could have done it in a more realistic, serious way that added to actual dramatic confrontation.
      6) A movie isn't good just because they utilize nostalgia. That's manipulative.
      7) After 18 years, this was the best story they could come up with??
      8) The dialogue was so redundant and childish and boring.
      9) Lack of dramatic confrontation besides a few good lines. It was just "I'm strong, i want to see how strong you are. Let's fight. Oh okay.. now i want to blow up the planet for no reason"
      10) We live in a world with so many amazing series such as Naruto, Bleach, Death Note.....also non-animes such as the Marvel movies like Avengers, MOS, Dark Knight. These writers (and for the movies) put in fucking WORK on these scripts and storylines.

    • @RyoHazuki224
      @RyoHazuki224 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheSwordfish009 1) Have you seen many other DBZ movies? Like, the 13 of which that are about 50 minutes long? Yeah, those have about 15-20 minutes of fighting too.
      2) Comedy moment for comedy's sake. And, if you fit the plot with Pilaf looking for Dragonballs (like he always does), it actually fits into the Resurrection of F movie that follows because he is STILL looking for them in that movie, and he does actually get to summon Shenron finally. So while it may not add to Battle of God's in terms of plot, it fits into the overall plot of both movies.
      3) Goten and Trunks are still kids, as this movie takes place only about a year after Majin Buu's defeat. How do you figure they're supposed to be teens?
      4) Beerus isn't a villain. He is the god of destruction, its his job to destroy. If your job was to destroy, wouldn't even you get bored after countless millenia of just destroying? So he has an interesting character trait that he likes food, but if he doesn't get the food that he wants, THEN he'll just destroy something. Gives him an interesting temperment.
      5) Why would any other characters even fight? They would far be out-classed by Beerus, even though they all did try for a breif, albeit fleeting moment (come on, Piccolo was taken out by chopsticks!!) And Vegeta's portrayal might have been a little out of character for him, but this movie again was more about getting back to a comedic root.
      6) Eh, nostalgia works for some, not for others. To each his own for this point.
      7) Put yourself in Toriyama's mindset. He wanted to write a movie that played homage to the Dragon Ball of old and at the same time expand the universe in which he created by putting a new system of Gods in the story. He wasn't thinking at the time of writing the movie on how well the movie was going to do in Japan, and how it re-sparked the love for DBZ. But, he at least had enough foresight to put in points that kept these new relevations open in case he did have to make more story. Which turned out great because people DID love it and now we have a second movie and a new TV series out of it. All thanks to this one "horrible" movie.
      8) I can only assume you're talking about the english dubbed version of the dialogue, so in that regard I can't comment on this point. I can only assume that the translators took - as usual - far too much creative liberty with the dialogue and fucked it up AGAIN. Funimation's fault, not Toriyama's if thats the case.
      9) News flash: Goku is not Superman. He's not a traditional hero. He fights because he wants to fight strong people. That is all. Beerus on the other hand, he's a bored God. He also enjoys fighting strong people, but nobody even comes close to him. So in hearing that there might be a Super Saiyan God out there excites him. What more do you need than that?
      10) See my points above about the overall broader scope of the story. This movie lays the groundwork for a bigger story, in which it performs fantastically. Its not a super serious movie, but a fun one, and thats what its meant to be. But at the same time it does connect to the broader story.
      11) I'll add my own here. Since this movie exists, hopefully we can finally get it into people's heads that GT was NEVER cannon, and that this movie series and TV series totally wipes GT off the face of the planet. It was poorly done fan-fiction at best, and lets leave it at that.
      Thanks for reading.

    • @TheSwordfish009
      @TheSwordfish009 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      RyoHazuki224 The other DBZ movies were released during the DBZ show's lifetime. This is after
      The groundwork you're talking about has already told us that it's going to be the same old childish Vegeta vs Goku shit. This has been beaten to death.
      The groundwork is simply adding a new form, bringing in random new villains that want to destroy everything for no reason.
      This movie storyline has not stroke the GT storyline from canon yet. Little plot inconsistencies is not enough, especially since the same movie contradicts itself and the last Buu Saga.
      Just as old fans of Star Wars hates the modern Episodes 1-3, but must accept it as being part of the original 4-6, the DBZ fans have to as well. At least for now.
      It's like an old creepy distant uncle that you don't like but accept him as part of the family. You're an adult. Accept it. Don't accept this DBZ shit. It's for the IMPROVEMENT of the series if us fans call it like it is. Not accept any feces that Toriyama gives us. He doesn't care much about the series anymore. He's moved on. We need a new writer and direction that does.

    • @RyoHazuki224
      @RyoHazuki224 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      TheSwordfish009 "The groundwork is simply adding a new form, bringing in random new villains that want to destroy everything for no reason."
      Its not for "no reason" he has a reason. It's his fucking JOB. He is the God of Destruction. What makes his character more interesting is that he doesn't destroy indiscriminately, he finds a reason to destroy or not to destroy. His love of good food. And if he can't get that good food (such as Buu hogging all the pudding), he gets pissed off. So, his biggest character flaw is that he has a short temper. But once again, Beerus is NOT a villain. He is a powerful God that is doing his job. He doesn't do his job with malice.
      "This movie storyline has not stroke the GT storyline from canon yet. Little plot inconsistencies is not enough, especially since the same movie contradicts itself and the last Buu Saga.
      Just as old fans of Star Wars hates the modern Episodes 1-3, but must accept it as being part of the original 4-6, the DBZ fans have to as well. At least for now."
      Whoa, whoa, whoa. Get one thing strait: "...has not stroke the GT storyline from canon yet".... Yet?? YET? It never fucking WAS canon! NEVER. EVER. Just because some people like it doesn't mean it's real. I suggest you look up Dragon Ball Multiverse. It's a well-done fan-made webcomic that pits alternate storyline versions of characters in a big Tenkaichi Boudokai. Its fun to read and fun to see certain characters in "what-if" scenarios. BUT, it's not real. It's fan-fiction. That is how GT is. Same with every other DBZ movie up until Battle of Gods. All 13 of them. Toriyama never wrote those stories, at best he just signed off on some character designs. The studios came to him and said things like "Here's our idea for a legendary Super Saiyan, Broly. What would he look like?" and Toriyama would draw him. But he didn't create him. As much as I fucking LOVE many of the earlier movies, and even though they sometimes referred to events happening in the series' timeline, it doesn't mean that they actually happened in the story canon. (mainly because for most of the movies, the timeline wouldn't make any fucking sense)
      And you reference Star Wars. Here is the difference though: Episodes 1-3 were created by the same guy that made 4-6. That is what makes them real. Thats what makes them count, no matter how much people think they are shit. I love the hell out of many Star Wars books, but now according to Disney, none of the Expanded Universe books count in the Star Wars canon. It upsets me, but I understand it. So, I hope you're not insinuating that somehow GT is akin to Episodes 1-3, because that is plainly incorrect. GT is akin to say, Star Wars New Jedi Order series of books. Some might enjoy them, but it doesn't make it a real canon story.
      And I'm not saying that anything Toriyama writes is sacred, in fact back in the 90's when I was enjoying DBZ (before any of you young fucks ever even HEARD of DBZ, I might add), I kind of didn't like much of the Buu saga. I saw it as Toriyama being tired of writing Dragon Ball, which he was, so he was literally pulling shit out of his ass, making an enemy that wasn't strong for strength reasons, but strong because of some magical properties that meant that no matter what, he could regenerate any damage, even beyond what Cell could do. At least in Battle of Gods, Beerus is a fucking GOD, so his power is understandable. Is it the best thing that Toriyama could come up with after so long? Debatable, but I do like where it's going, and I'm excited to see the other Gods mentioned.
      Sorry for the tl;dr, but I had to get all that off my chest.

  • @gigleorex

    I think this was exactly what DBZ needed. The show was so guilty of having villains that were just big, bad, evil guys who wanted to destroy everything ~MANIACAL LAUGHTER~! Beerus finally gave us an endearing villain- everything wasn't so damn cut and dry. Vegeta (and other characters too) showed more personality than his usual one note. (He cares about his family and he embarrasses himself to protect Earth, instead of just being pissy about how mad stronk Goku is all day.) Resurrection F furthered this hinting at actual development in the show by literally calling out the main characters' flaws. I haven't seen any of Super yet, but I really hope it keeps this going. I love DBZ from a nostalgia perspective but it was about as shallow as they come. :0

    Chris Stuckmann I just found DBZ: Battle of Gods mediocre compared to other past DBZ movies. It just seems like more of the same "If Goku can't win, no one else can" setup that we've seen time & time again. I liked some aspect of Battle of Gods, but I think movies like DeadZone/The World's Strongest are better at storytelling and the animation was far better without the CGI elements. Most DBZ fans are finding the movie entertaining while noticing how convoluted DBZ has gotten due to Akira Toriyama's forgetfulness. During production, Akira Toriyama had trouble remembering much of the series and the development of the characters.

    My only problem with Battle of Gods is: Super Saiyan God. In my opinion it is one of the worst form, the worst transformation in the Dragonball franchise. GT, regardless of it not being Canon, gave us Super Saiyan 4, which was badass. Super Saiyan God looks so stupid. Not to mention the way it is obtained. Most of all, it is stupid just for having God in it's name. That aside, I loved the move. Definitely one of my favorites.

    • @Darkalfondso
      @Darkalfondso 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the thing though.
      IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EPIC
      Look at Beerus. He's a god of destruction. But he doesn't exactly look like 1. Beats Super Sayian 3 Goku in 2 hits. (literally too)
      And look at Whis. He's Beerus's servant, always at his foot when he needs him. But he's able to make Beerus look like Yamcha.
      And as for Super Sayian God, the transformation wasn't supposed to be Earth shattering, but peaceful. You're turning into a Deity with the help of "followers".
      I won't lie, i was more or less disappointed like you. But when i think about it Super Sayian God was a quite storm. Akira always gave us these FLASHY ULTIMATE TRANSFORMATIONS. Meaning not to mess with them.
      But you take a look at Super Sayian God, underestimate a god and poof your Universe is gone. This is of course why i like it now.

    Here's what I think of the Dragon Ball series. Dragon Ball OG is great, the humor, the characters (BTW i'll always take Krillin, Tien and Piccolo over Vegeta and Trunks) and the story and philosophy was fascinating. Dragon Ball Z took a dump on DBOG in my opinion. Most of the side characters became useless, power levels ruined the the martial arts philosophy and making Goku and Kami (AKA GOD) aliens was stupid. Dragon Ball GT I don't even need to talk about.

    • @petplatypus
      @petplatypus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are ONE series, so what I just supposed to except that Goku can turn into ape for no reason? early on sure but once Dragon Ball started getting more serious it needed to explain things properly, all of the characters still used Martial Arts, and the side characters weren't useless, each one played a important role in the story, making Kami and Piccolo aliens makes sense, it progressed the story

    I went into this movie with a few things on my head. I knew that I was a massive Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z fan as a kid. I watched all the old "movies" (Broly, the cyborgs, Cooler's return, Hildegarn, ...) and found most of them dreadful and forgettable, which is why I had very low expectations for the combination of "Dragon Ball" and "movie", especially ever since I saw The Movie Which Should Not Have Happened. I heard about the title of the movie and the fact that the bad guy was the "God of Destruction" and that he looked like a giant cat. I thought the premise, the villain and the sole idea of him being an actual God to be extremely retarded and un-dragonball-y. Then I watched the movie. And what can I say? I fucking loved it. Beirs (?) was an amazing villain! That kind of self-aware villain should've been Ronan The Accuser in GotG and it would've made that awesome movie even more amazing.
    So yeah, Battle of Gods. FUCK YEAH. Please, I need more Dragon Ball Z movies like this in my life. Toriyama should definitely make more of them. I'd gladly throw my money at his face if the product is THAT good.

    Fair review but I don't agree on the rating if you're a dbz fan. If I compare this movie to a classic dbz episode or films that were released before this one it is a let-down.
    The animation is its major drawback, it's too clean, too digital, there's no longer this signature in the drawings.
    The storyline was weak or rather not typical of a dbz movie, the bad guy "god of Destruction" does not destroy out of pure thirst of conquest and domination (and that can be good I'm okay with it, it was unexpected but come on, you don't say you want to destroy the Earth for pudding, it was weak humor...).
    Vegeta looked so not like he was before--he's the prince of Sayiens; he relishes fighting and would never turn down a fight. Son goku on the other hand was weird, he said he loved fighting and was disappointed to need friends to become a God, yet all throughout the dbz series he needed his friends to vanquish his enemies, Goku is Goku for that, unlike Vegeta who IS really proud for that matter. It makes no sense to turn Goku into a Vegeta and Vegeta into a ridiculous, pathetic dancer...
    I liked the presence of Pilaf lol but he was given too much screen time still his two friends were funny. It was a good flash back in time.
    Whis is not impressing, to me he looks like a fashionable hair-dresser, not the master of the God of Destruction. And Beerus looked quite cool but not impressive either, at least if I compare him to fucking Freezer or Cell or even Super Buu (Broly is out of league he is far above lol).
    Also, the Super saiyen God thing was rather disappointing... The look was meh, it looked like a kaioken, it was not .."wow! that's the super sayien God" . And why 6 saiyens for the transformation? Why not seven like seven dragon balls, the seventh universe. Six was too random, and come on, Shenron who says "lord Beerus", please I worshipped you Shenron, you are the key of the anime. You are the spirit of the dragon balls how can you almost bow to lord Beerus... Anyway.
    I would rate it 6 as a dbz fan, and 7-8 if you're a random viewer. The drawings are good, there's a bit of humor but this is not top-notch humor either still you feel the power of animation towards the end of the film. But it's no match for other short movies which in less than one hour manged to keep you at the edge of your seat non-stop (Broly, the history of Trunks, Bojack unbound or Bardock).

    I am really sorry, but if anyone here, is a fan of Dragon ball and Dragon ball Z, this movie is garbage. It is one of the worst ovas of Dragon Ball.
    And if you like it, it is because you are not a Fan.
    The best OVAS are the one of the father of goku, and the one of Trunks and Gohan in the future against the androids. Also the two ovas of Cooler are great.
    The other ovas are ok.
    But this one, Battle of gods, with that transformation... and that silly plot. I am sorry, but this looks like a movie made by a 10 years old kid.

      Like i said, watch the old movies, like the one where the father of goku is the main protagonist ( not the new one, that is also garbage ) or the one where they told us the history of trunks. That movies have a sense of danger, and they are very epic. And most important, you care about the protagonist.
      This movie is like a joke, where Vegeta is dancing, the villain is stupid, and the solution to the problem is just another silly transformation. There is no real sense of danger and i dont care about the protagonist because no one takes the danger seriously. They made this Dragon Ball movie for kids. ( even old Dragon Ball, when goku is young is smarther than this)

      It was pretty good. The transformation has a lot of thought and lore put in to it. The color actually holds a lot of meaning. You should look up the reason why the color is the way it is, it ties in with the Blue version as well. Not to mention the villain is something very different from DBZ's norm. A villain Goku couldn't beat, a villain that isn't even really a villain. It opened up the DBZ world to all that it is today. It is by no means a bad film, and it was a blessing on the community. My opinion ofc, but I think it was fantastic.

To a degree i understand you yes this wasnt the best movie ever but it wasnt garbage either . Ugh just because you're a fan of the series and because DB Evolution was utter crap doesn't mean this is good. To me it was a huge disappointment, mostly because it felt uninspired and kinda disrespectul to Vegeta(who is my favorite character btw).
    Also I think Chris should stop caring about DB Evolution, I mean what's the big deal? It was a horrible movie but the fact that it was SO FAR from being like the anime makes it hard for me to even feel bothered at all, I can't believe people think "it ruined the series" lol That movie didn't change my thoughts on the actual anime at all so why take it so personal?

    • @petplatypus
      @petplatypus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      this is probably the only DBZ movie that feels inspired. Unique villain, a welcomed focus on comedy, Goku didn't just save the day with a spirit bomb, in fact he loses. However I fail to see how this disrespected Vegeta. This movie shows how fair his character has come and what he's willing to do to protect his friends and family. The movie showed his development and even gave him that temporary power up scene which was awesome.

      The dancing is insulting! I understand that they wanted to make it funny but that's not the kind of comedy I expect from his character. The villain wasn't unique, it doesn't come close to villains like Janemba or Broly. The SSJ God was so uninspired visually. Im so dissapointed about the movie, and I was really excited because it was gonna be after Buu Saga but this was just mehh.

    • @petplatypus
      @petplatypus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      unknown unknown The dance was funny. Lighten up it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. You didn't expect from his character, THAT'S THE HUMOR OF IT. The SSJ design is no more inspired than the SSJ god design, different hair color, different eye color, and a slightly different body structure. As for Beerus not being unique. That's a joke right? His design is like nothing we've seen in any DBZ movie. Broly and Janemba are better? I KNOW that's joke. They are easily the worst DBZ movie villains of the bunch, they have no personality, Broly has TERRIBLE motivation and a garbage backstory that makes no sense. Beerus was unique, he was funny, not cliche, he had a simple goal in mind that had NOTHING to do with dragon balls or killing Goku for revenge like EVERY OTHER DBZ movie villain.

    • @jonnemesis11

    How the fuck can anyone say Battle of Gods was the DBZ film they always wanted?!
    There was only about 15 mins of fighting. Everything else was childish humor. None of the characters were utilized for any drama besides Vegeta getting pissed that His Bulma got bitchslapped.
    They had a 15 min subplot (Trunks' love interest) that was pointless in the story was was barely resolved. This subplot featured characters barely anyone of us know because we weren't even fucking born (the alien, the girl, and the humanoid dog) at the time of the original Dragon Ball. Gohan's drunkenness was not funny. I can find better comedy from Saturday Night Live. "OH GOHAN IS SO DRUNK... HAHAHAHAHAHA" gtfo.
    And again... a mindlessly evil villain that wants to blow up the planet FOR NO REASON AGAIN.
    How the fuck can this movie be loved? This is blind DBZ Fanboyism. You guys know for a fact it was bad but don't want to admit it.
    How can any of you criticize GT yet praise Battle of Gods?! Even the new DBZ F movie looks silly. Frieza suddenly achieves Godlike power after only 3 months of training? Are you fucking serious with this lazy writing?

    • @RyoHazuki224
      @RyoHazuki224 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheSwordfish009 I'll reply to you a second time just to comment on your last point, since you obviously don't comprehend the story of Resurrection of F. Frieza is naturally powerful, he's never trained a day in his life. Yet in DBZ, he was the most feared being in the galaxy up until a Super Saiyan Goku stood on equal ground with him. Now, if you're naturally the most powerful being in the known galaxy, why should you train? But wait, a lowly Saiyan who actually DOES train can attain your level of power and surpass it? Imagine what could be done if you actually DO train. Thats what Frieza does. Simple as that.
      And, we criticize GT because it's NOT FUCKING CANON. Toriyama had nothing to do with it, it's glorified fan-fiction! Its the ultimate "what if" story. Battle of Gods IS canon. Is it perfect? No, but it's entertaining in all the right places, hits every note that Dragon Ball has always been known for, and has enough foresight to lay the groundwork to continue the story.

    • @TheSwordfish009
      @TheSwordfish009 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RyoHazuki224 Don't talk to me about not comprehending the story well. I am very familiar with the DBZ/Saiyan mythos. I know Frieza and his power. I know his explanation.
      I am critiquing the explanation. It's lazy writing to squeeze in Frieza and push him even though the explanation isn't plausable. "I am strong as a SS1. Geee... how ever will I beat Goku. Wait I a minute. I just remembered that if I train, I can reach SS3 in only THREE months!!! Now I'll get those dirty monkeys!"
      Does that sound reasonable to you? Three months dude? Three months? Can you honestly full heartedly say that's not silly?
      We live in a world with more sophisticated storytelling in manga/anime. Bleach, One Piece, Naruto whether one likes them or not will always agree they always bring their A-game when coming up with villains, explanations, and power-ups.
      This is a power-up for the sake of a powerup. I just cannot fathom comparing other mangas with rich logical explanations with this current DBZ's bullshit about "Oh let me train for 3 months and get the power of a fucking GOD even though I've had so many decades to do that before.... and knew about stronger people like Buu and Beerus and Whis existed." At any point of his many-decade life (possibly over a 100 years), you're telling me he couldn't put in 3 months of training to do this? This is just a lazy writing technique to squeeze in an old character.

    • @TheSwordfish009
      @TheSwordfish009 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RyoHazuki224 And you fans are lying about enjoying the DBZ movie. I understand being entertained in the right spots. I liked some fights.
      But you cannot be telling the truth when you say enjoyed it THAT much. They had 18 entire years and this is what they came up with?
      GT has a far superior storyline. It was rich and included plausible character motives. The revenge of the Tuffles for the evils the Saiyans committed. The resurrection of old villains and break out of Hell. The revenge of the dragon balls for the abuse mankind and Goku did of them. That is rich story whether or not it was executed the best.
      So how can you truly say Battle of Gods was superior to that? They pulled out a random character Beerus out of the fucking blue and had him try to blow the planet up over spilling pudding?
      Pudding > Ancient Saiyan/Tuffle War, Hell Breakout, Revenge of the Dragons... in your eyes? Just be honest.

    • @RyoHazuki224
      @RyoHazuki224 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheSwordfish009 How can I be lying about my opinion on why I liked a particular movie? Its MY opinion!
      That being said, I also did not say that it was the best story ever. I said I was entertained by it. It hit all the right nostalgia notes for me. We got good comedic moments that Dragon Ball was always known for, we got to see all of our favorite characters, and we got a great modern-animated fight scene out of it. And it ushered in an expanded lore to the Dragon Ball universe by introducing a higher level of Gods that oversee the balance of things in the universe. It opens doors to new possibilities.
      But, I'm sorry but GT was utter crap, and thats not just my opinion, it's an opinion shared by a lot of fans. And also, I hold respect for what is real, and what is fan-fiction. To me, I respect the writings of the original creator Toriyama, and he wrote Battle of Gods, Resurrection of F, and is writing Dragon Ball Super, effectively erasing that bullshit fan-fiction that was GT. Now, I'm not saying that everything Toriyama writes is "holy and sacred" or something, but it is HIS creation, he can do with it what he wants. But what he is doing with it is a very good thing in my book. Time will tell how Super will turn out, but so far it's on the right track.
      So, in my eyes, there is no comparison with BoG and GT, because its not even apples and oranges. It's apples and... tennis rackets. But those tennis rackets are made of paper mache and strung with silly string. Its flimsy and made of shit. That is GT.

    • @SttudDioPierrot
      @SttudDioPierrot 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheSwordfish009 You think frieza only needing 3 months of training is lazy writing? You realize that after his fight with vegeta, it only took goku a week of training to become a Super Saiyin. You make it seem as if this Power up isn't as convoluted as Guru, Elder kai's ritual, or the hyperbolic time chamber.

    Battle of Gods sucked hard. Souless and inconsistent fight scenes (SSJ2 Vegeta punching Bill right after SSJ3 Goku couldn't touch him? Come on! Also, everybody saying that SSJ2 Vegeta "surpassed" Goku's just plain bullshit) and an inexplicable plot device that requires a SSJ FETUS and a SSJ Gohan, who we all know can't do that at that point, thanks to the mystic treatment. Not to mention that SSJ God's a huge disappointment.

    • @okagron

    • @petplatypus

      Vegeta was enraged and temporarily surpassed Goku. The SSJ forms are boost from the characters base power, just because he was SSJ3 doesn't mean a SSJ2 can't be stronger. It is NEVER stated the Gohan can't turn SSJ after the mystic stuff happens, he just doesn't do it or rather doesn't even need to. The Saiyan fetus made sense, it was a growing Saiyan life form
