In the new "Guitar Player" magazine, he says he has 3 or 4 "phantom tunings" - meaning they're secret. He's playing in C with a 3rd fret capo, and from his fingers I'd guess it's a A9th tuning (no 3rd) - try EAEABE low to high.
Using a capo with the blues is a cool idea then you get to pull off from two positions and easily play modes too, G phrygian i think. Can;t get the thumbstrokes at the same time, thats skill
