after watching it till the end and finding out it was the cousin it made sense. but before that every time i was suspicious i thought HER COUSIN KNOWS HIM and her cousin was always reassuring her. but personally regardless of what the cousin said 10 years i madness! she wanted love and marriage sooo bad she became victim to manipulation and catfishing for that long. crazy but I think for her because her cousin was the middle man maybe made her feel like she was being silly and their was real love and a real person 🤷🏻♀️

Oh dear lord . This whole case gave me a pit in my stomach. I was in a relationship for like 8 months with my dream guy , turned out it was catfish and it’s none other than my ex boyfriend who just wanted me close to him and angry over the breakup. I’m glad that I found out way sooner than others. It did distorted my next 2 years but yeah after hearing this case where I can see at what extent my things could have gone wrong give me some relief and also a little trauma.
I can relate your pain and the 2 years of healing and taking back your life sounds like my situation. It’s truly the best to look at red flags and I am sure You had sensed something was up. I could feel it was my ex using a fake account and introducimh himself as a girl that HE told me.. That girl is obessesed with him etc. I just knew and the style didn’t come off as of a female…He even asked me What my love means… In my own language, since I’m from EU…he butchered the words , to make it look like it’s a random girl… Even said He is seeing someone .. All of this wasn’t said but since it was clear I was speaking to him and he was using a made up person…. People go to any extent to deceive… Any!!! I hope you are taking back your true value and Who you really are ! Claim it all back and I try to take this as a learning experience. Even though the sorrow it brought, cannot be wiped out but I know pain can turn into a testimony and lead to blessings. I wish you the best and I pray you are whole in out! What in the actual F??? This is somehow the scariest story you guys have shared ever! And here's why: In most stories the bad guy/s are strangers/people you know in passing...who do bad things ,no doubt like murdering their victims etc. Their victims go through hell and back but its over for them at some point.... This horror went on for 10+ years with the perpetrator roaming free and being the Victim's own first cousin!??? As long as poor Keerat lives, she'd have to go through reminders of this psychological torture over and over again
This might seem hard to believe but honestly, this feels exactly like something that a South Asian woman abroad would go through, especially elder sister figures. We are disrespected, abused and taken advantage of by our community constantly, expected to cater to people’s emotional needs with virtually zero emotional support in return and have to deal with all kinds of deceit and drama while holding the entire family together. This should be a lesson. Don’t give your love, time and energy to people who don’t deserve it, which is probably at least 80% of your friend circle/network. Half the time, your own family doesn’t even deserve it, especially extended family.

It should be added into crime and one punishment for this scam is if person scam someone about 1 year that person should be in jail in complete darkness about 1 year. So simran should be punished for 8 years in complete darkness of jail
There are many cases around the world - But in this case particularly I feel that Kirat’s life was made more complicated with playing with her feelings. A serious road crash kills anyone for one time but this kind of abusive act is not allowed without proper motivation. She should be seriously punished.
As a future psychologist, I just want to know a psychological evaluation and interpretation about why simran did it?any diagnosis? Or a self made theory. Enough answers about her motive weren't given to us. But I'm glad kirat came out with this story publicly and internationally. Simran deserves to be shamed and should be recognised as an evil, characterless and fraud kinda person. She'll pay for this slowly and suffering will go on till her whole lifetime. (JUST MY THOUGHTS NOT A SERIOUS DIAGNOSIS) I’m not a psychologist, and this is based off of my own curiosity but it seems that Simran created an entire world of different personalities and was indulging in a fantasy for years, making up scenarios for everything occurring in her characters’ lives. So maybe a personality disorder? Like Antisocial Identity Disorder? Or sociopathy, since its a sociopathic trait using deceit, false identities and manipulation without remorse? My initial thought was maybe she had split personalities (DID) But i’m not sure. (As i said, im not a doctor this is based off my own research and pondering) Its really fascinating though, how obsessive she was. However, her motives could have been different than just having a mental illness. Maybe she was obsessed with her cousin so she started this whole thing? I’m really curious as well.

People who are traumatised , let's give you some hope . So my cousin ( 27F) was the staying in Kolkata, West Bengal ...fell in love with someone in Bareilly, UP (28M) . Tgey never saw each other in person before . Every one was sceptical, as UP is very infamous . So she met her boyfriend for the first time after 3 months of being together , and she went to Varanasi , without telling anyone in the family or friends. Because everyone was sceptical. They met , and turns out that guy is a real gentleman. Fastforward to now , 3 years after that , They are still together and married , and she is happier than ever . ✌🏼🧿

Desperation can lead to believing things that we'd be suspicious about if we weren't desperate. I wish her well - hope she can recover and heal from this.

I listened to the original podcast wherein it is revealed that simran was going through something in her own life at that point and talking to kirat was like an escape from that life. She thought she was bringing some kind of joy to both their lives by doing that.
Ig she was probably a lesbian madly in love with kirat while she knew it would never happen simce kirat is straight. Another reason might be due to jealousy kirat who also had a stable job whereas simran was academically brilliant student in British bank and lost her job

She was only telling her mother and her precious cousin 'Simran' (the perpetrator) about it b/c 'Bobby' was supposed to be in the US 'Witness Protection Program' and no one was supposed to know he was even alive. Both Kirat and her mother agreed not to tell Kirat's father b/c he knew (the real) Bobby's grandfather in Kenya and would have flown straight to Kenya to meet with Bobby's family if he knew Kirat was in a 'relationship' with the real Bobby. So basically no one but the victim, the perpetrator, and Kirat's mother knew, although Kirat thought multiple friends and cousins of the fake 'Bobby' knew. But those 'friends' and 'cousins' were all fake profiles that Simran had created.

There was a show called Catfish and they have cases of people never meeting for x amount of time of speaking online. Some had happy endings , some didn’t. Some were sad, some weren’t. But I don’t think I’ve seen any story remotely close to this. This Simran isn’t the DDLJ we grew up loving in the 90s 👀

Great coverage of the case as always, but I'm extremely disappointed in your portrayal of Simran. It's very clear from even an outside perspective that Simran is an emotional monster who took pleasure in ruining the life of her cousin, while she herself flourished. There was no secret motive so let's not mystify Simran, because that's more than she deserves.

But in this case particularly I feel that Kirat’s life was made more complicated with playing with her feelings. A serious road crash kills anyone for one time but this kind of abusive act is not allowed without proper motivation. She should be seriously punished.
As a future psychologist, I just want to know a psychological evaluation and interpretation about why simran did it?any diagnosis? Or a self made theory. Enough answers about her motive weren't given to us. But I'm glad kirat came out with this story publicly and internationally. I’m not a psychologist, and this is based off of my own curiosity but it seems that Simran created an entire world of different personalities and was indulging in a fantasy for years, making up scenarios for everything occurring in her characters’ lives. So maybe a personality disorder? Like Antisocial Identity Disorder? Or sociopathy, since its a sociopathic trait using deceit, false identities and manipulation without remorse? My initial thought was maybe she had split personalities (DID) But i’m not sure. (As i said, im not a doctor this is based off my own research and pondering) Its really fascinating though, how obsessive she was. However, her motives could have been different than just having a mental illness. Maybe she was obsessed with her cousin so she started this whole thing? I’m really curious as well.

I suppose Simran did actually break up with JJ and out of jealousy she wanted her sisters life to be spoiled the same way.. you know there are some psychos who thinks in this way “ if i dont have it you also shouldnt have it in your life”. I listened to the original podcast wherein it is revealed that simran was going through something in her own life at that point and talking to kirat was like an escape from that life. She thought she was bringing some kind of joy to both their lives by doing that.

What was this? Why Keerat? Did she have no relatives of her own to guide her? Someone who was interested in her daily life? To show her how stupid it was to not physically meet her partner for 3 years?
She was only telling her mother and her precious cousin 'Simran' (the perpetrator) about it b/c 'Bobby' was supposed to be in the US 'Witness Protection Program' and no one was supposed to know he was even alive. Both Kirat and her mother agreed not to tell Kirat's father b/c he knew (the real) Bobby's grandfather in Kenya and would have flown straight to Kenya to meet with Bobby's family if he knew Kirat was in a 'relationship' with the real Bobby. So basically no one but the victim, the perpetrator, and Kirat's mother knew, although Kirat thought multiple friends and cousins of the fake 'Bobby' knew. But those 'friends' and 'cousins' were all fake profiles that Simran had created.
5:46 the answer is no. It is not normal to talk to someone for 5 months and not recognize the name. Is Kirat common? Because even if it is you still know you were talking to a Kirat for months.

My first trigger would have been, you didn't recognize almost at the bar (which is humiliating) & then why in earth his ex-wife would be reaching out !?? This is more unbelievable than even wormholes!! 😂
