Also heading there really soon apprantley aswell the shop keepers have a code to help out each other when you purchase something if they put your purchase in a black bag that tells other shop owners that you are not good at negotiating 😊and will pay more than you should
this rumour has been around a long time, For us we don't see it, Have tried many times testing this with bags and dealings, Matt dealing with bartering, Also myself (im terrible) we get all same bags, over different periods. So we don't see it but it has been mentioned many times in Bali, Maybe there is still isolated areas that do it but not what we have seen. If you find anything let us know. Have a great trip. Thanks for feedback.
Have a great trip, Be sure to report back what worked and if anything didn't. Also if you find something that's good be sure to let us know. Thanks for feedback.
Agree. Sukawati they are prepared to bargain on prices. Whereas in Ubud market, same items, they had a base price that they would not lower, they let you walk away rather than lower their tourist price. Found the same no bargain approach in Garlic Lane.
I gather they have alot of tourist in ubud and Garlic lane and don't need to drop prices knowing there will be another tourist along soon willing to pay inflated prices. Thanks for feedback.
We are heading up to Lombok in June. Are we best to exchange money before we leave Australia or when we get to Kuta? Thanks for your help. Love your videos. Brian
Definitely Kuta, can change a small amount at Bali airport but change most in Kuta. Also from Friday midday till Monday morning, the rate drops so change from Monday to Friday if you can. Always change with proper money changers. (Behind glass air con doors are usually safe, not on street. If someone offers a high rate and looks to good to be true, be aware there are scams in Bali. Have a great trip. Thanks for feedback.
Thank you Sue, for your kind words. We are just a average couple who love to travel on a good value budget. Matt loved the JFC price. Thanks for your lovely comment.
@@BecMattAdventures we are going over in May. We’ll be in Sanur. You guys I think are Legian/kuta so I don’t think we’ll ever cross paths but maybe one day if you see some random people waving to you, it could be us 🤣
Never know where we could pop up Sue. Mainly kuta for us but don't be shy and say hello, we have had a few subscribers xo.e and said hello, it has been a real surprises to us that people know Bec & Matt and actually watch our videos. We are over whelmed. Thanks again.
What we are trying to show, especially down in tourist Kuta, Legian, seminyak areas that prices are hugely inflated. As you would saw, always be respectful and polite, and cheerful banter, unlike I see alot in Bali. Don't have to be mean when negotiating and do it with a smile. We recommend fix price shops for shopping,, easy and less hassle. We always say pay what your happy with. Thanks for feedback.
@@BecMattAdventures I understand and agree that there are some sellers who like to sell over prices, but looking at the current situation, especially those who are only small businesses may really need a source of income to survive. no offence I appreciate your reply and success for your TH-cam channel. Chookas !
Any idea on what one should pay for a Bintang singlet? I haven't bought one since before Covid. Even then though, I would buy them at Matahari Department Store in Kuta Square - so no haggling required.
I remember pre covid would buy for $2.50 but now at a fixed price usually 50k ($5) should be. Have noticed over years , some are good but watch for low quality. James as a farmer you do livestock or fruit/ vegetables?
Its in sukawati jarrod, about 30 mins noth of sanur, about 1hr north east of kuta. Going to ubud or North East Bali you go bear sukawati. Hope this helps Not as touristy as kuta legian. Thanks for feedback.

Please give the Balinese a chance to make a living. A couple of dollars to them is a big deal when supporting their families. Think before you haggle over a dollar or too.

Running sheep and cattle at present. And most years put in an oat crop.
