Sounds like you have struck a good balance between good enough and creature comfort in the present. Seems like people are searching for the same minimalism in their lives.

Hi Hobo Road, just be lucky you were able to leave NC. After a few very warm winters, we are experiencing a winter like this state used to experience 40-50 years ago. Nights in the high teens, highs 35-40. Windy at times. Day after day. Started around Thanksgiving and has not let up except for a few short breaks. Possible big snow storm this Saturday. Coldest air of the season a week or two after that.

Hi Dear,, Im glad I came across your videos again and I pray that you keep your Beautiful Spirits up. One day at a time. When I was homeless I occasionally slept in Hotel rooms, but that was short lived... Also try to always pack light.. alot of gear or alot if clothes is truly unnecessary, but that really depends on what you are able to carry with you..
Another item is wipes, it is very convenient when unable to go to wash up in public restrooms..... You seem like you are living pretty much in one area, but please always be prepared to move out in case of anything or emergencies.. Please try to not get too comfortable and attached to your accumulated belongings..I've learned to minimize and PACK LIGHT... again, Thank you for your videos, you give me, and others inspiration for survival in an alternative lifestyle.. Please stay Safe, Comfortable, and at Peace, GOD bless 🕊️🌹

Yeah, Never tell anyone where your stealth camp is located.
Gear, that's a fun topic, we all ought to be paid as professional gear testers.
The environment here is S W. Desert, never much for rain and unless you are used to it, don't try a summer out here. Gear is mostly water hauling containers. When I was in the forest of the N.W. I found having a good flashlight was a must how many of those have you tested?
Keep up the good job that you are doing, always enjoy your videos.

Check out " the minivan Lee show" she lives in her van in Tucson and is sleathly. She calls " urban nesting" her van blends in. She's a minimalist. She's 71 and so cool. It's her mini apartment. You would like her

how long have you been homeless? I'm almost 56, spent 34+ years homeless/travelling. I never had a big tent (or even a tent, really), no plastic buckets, zilch...always only have what I can carry.

Ive been homeless off and on for about 15 years, though this is my first stint of doing so 2 years in a row and so figuring it out as I go along. Being homeless short term is a different thing than doing it for several years in a row.

Wonder if one could do a "hybrid" location approach, eg. be in the PNW from May-Sept where it's warmer then, and then head somewhere like the Florida Keys from Oct-April?
That way one could avoid winter.

    • @hoboroad
      @hoboroad  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

That's possible and tbh I've thought about it. But it's not that easy to move your camp if you don't have funds for it.

The best winter time shelter is a wigwam.
The best part is that you can dig down into the earth for more head space and you can have a fire inside.

@@luckylarry5112 then my advice is to move to a place where there are very few people and alot of Forest.
It's sad how America has become a fascist state.
It youst to be that nobody have a damn so long as you where not hurting anyone.
Now days they throw a fit if you say the wrong thing or god forbid cook a meal over an open fire.
If moving isn't an option for you. Then you may have to go total Veit Cong and bulid a spider hole.
No not something cramped but like an apartment that's underground.
I think a guy on TH-cam has a video on such a structure.
      Total camouflage!

@@luckylarry5112 💔We didn't ask to be born in this world. We must survive. We have basic human rights that no one should have the power to rob us of. Something very cruel is happening all around the world. Who is really behind it? People are struggling just to live. Everything is slowly falling apart. Everything that we were taught was wrong when we were growing up is normal life now. The past was never perfect, but what's happening now is madness seeping into every area of life. I would be discreet and build whatever I need, with respect to the environment and animals. If you are charged and you don't have the money to pay your fee, what can they do? Jail? They let repeat, violent criminals out with no real consequences. Take care of yourself as best you can. You deserve a safe home, clean water, healthy food, respect, love...

If you are committed to that lifestyle u can do things that make life better. You can make a root cellar by digging a hole and sticking a pladtic trash bin in the hole to store fresh food. I would want a confortable chair, an old style bean bag chair can create a comfortable reclining position and those chairs are insulating, i saw where someone had a bed & bean bag chair in the back of thier pickup under a camper shell and that was home. Since they had a truck they could charge a battery using alternator so they had a power station to run light, computer, radio, fan.

How do you obtain money for food?
I would expect THAT to be a primary condition of tent life.
WHERE you pitch the tent, not in a low wet spot, away from creek flood potential, VERY important!
Great plan being away from others, difficult winding access, NEVER divulge location, NEVER allow others to see/follow your path.
Do you typically return to tent at almost nightfall?
Do you have poly, or canvas tent (can be more durable)? Super ground tarp is essential!
If possible, plant/train native plants/vines to overgrown the tent?
I have used appropriate color military camo netting as helpful disguise.
Do you relocate everything on your back?
Or do you have a trailer/cart/bicycle?
YES! to remain clean, clean clothes just for shopping. Change to "grubbies" when back at camp.
How/where do you recharge the power supply/station? Must be heavy to lug around?
    Would you prefer a car?
Can you pay the insurance, maintenance, registration?
Finding a laundry facility close to this spot has become tough in this area. The close shopping center was recently razed for housing development.
