That’s the way it should be. It doesn’t do anyone any good to hide what is really going on. A relationship is give and take, ebb and flow. If you can’t talk to your partner about real life things what’s the point? It takes time to build trust but when that trust blooms there is nothing you should not be able to talk about, nothing ever.

I think him being underrated ties more into his character as well, it’s interesting how that reflects in the mcu and irl.
The only problem with Grills wiping his sword on on his gauntlet is that he does it with the cutting side instead of the blunt side, so if he was using a real sword, he just cut of his lower arm.

Which is 100% on brand for a LARPer is it not ? So less of a problem really & more a great little detail put in (likely) by the actor which went right over your head.
The scene we got on Vormir in endgame is better than the version where Thanos shows up, the sacrifice of Natasha and the fight for them both to sacrifice themselves is much more meaningful than a big battle

Jack’s butterscotch is a calculated move to see if Kate was the acting Ronin. Jack knows the Ronin was at the Armand house (it was on the news). So showing the butterscotch was to see if Kate knew what it was and was thus the Ronin.

It might be possible that Jack somehow saw Kate over security camers Armand might have had in his home but it still doesnt make sense why the news are saying that Ronin was at the crime scene. Don't you think clint breaking that window to catch the bottle is also an illustration of his accuracy powers? He accurately predicted where exactly the bottle was going to come through before it reaches, and then broke a hole in that same spot and managed to catch the bottle and accurately throw it back to the bad guy's spot.. all in just a few seconds of thinking time

I liked the first two episodes way more than I thought I would. I'm glad they're keeping some of the MCU grounded and not making everything cosmic and gigantic scale.

That sword cleaning thing that Grills does isn't unique to Ronin, it's a samurai technique popularized in movies (particularly Kurosawa).
How many samurais are alive in current day MCU? None, so this method is more popular because a current superhero did it.
@@cjtrules1 first of all, there are 100% still living samurai. Second of all, the blip didn't erase every Kurosawa film out of existence. I can guarantee you a LARPer who is familiar with ninjas has watched them.
@@chumuheha First of all, yes the traditional samurai do not exist in the modern day. The majority of the population were wiped out by the Tokugawa Shogunate and during that era surviving samurai transitioned out of being warriors. The culture still lives on but practicing warrior samurais are not alive.
Second of all, I would assume Kurosawa lived in the MCU, but his movies are not more popular to an American than a modern day American superhero. IF Grills saw the movies then he would know how to wipe his sword properly which you yourself pointed out he did incorrectly. Nerd, yes. Samurai aficionado, probably not.
@@cjtrules1 People don't know that Ronin is Hawkeye, all they know is he's a vigilante who kills gang members. I highly doubt his actions are getting the same publicity as Hawkeye... plus Grills clearly didn't know that the suit was the Ronin suit, calling it a "ninja" suit. So I don't know why you think he's trying to copy him.
Also, the samurai were not wiped out by the Tokugawa Shogunate. Up to 5 percent of the Japanese citizenry were samurai until the structure was dissolved by the Meiji Restoration. And when I referred to "living samurai" I was referring to it as an inherited culture, not samurai in the strict legal sense recognized by the Japanese government... I mean people who keep the culture of their actual ancestors alive by maintaining similar practices and ideologies. The prevalence of sports like kendo and the importance of bushido as recently as WWII shows that the spirit of the samurai is still very much present in the Japanese conscience and is exported internationally.
Chiburi is one of the most iconic imagery associated with katanas. It's not a stretch at all to say the inspiration comes from that association, as opposed to a vigilante that is relatively unknown to the general public.

I was very excited for this series and so far, the first two episodes have definitely delivered! My favorite parts are actually Clint’s moments with his family. Tony may have been The Godfather of the MCU, but Clint has always been the dad of the MCU. We see this in his interactions with Wanda, his own kids, the way he takes care of the other Avengers and now with Kate too. I also love that despite Clint’s spy background, Laura knows everything. Good relationships rely on effective communication, so good for you Clint and Laura!
The fact that you accurately just described my thought process as I watched the first episode is very impressive.

When Clint puts on the firemans coat and enters the building to retrieve the Ronin suit he puts on a Firemans helmet with the Department no. 54. I think this is a shout out to NYFD 54 the fire department that suffered the greatest loss during 9/11

I love how they brought in the real world dilemma with Hawkeye losing his hearing with all the fights he's been a part of. Just shows how much more he's sacrificing over all the God like people in the avengers.
Weird that they aren’t talking about the twist where Jack is actually going to be a sort of mentor to Kate Bishop after they take down Madam Mask. His hints towards him wanting to be a good step father push this narrative.

When clint is helping the kids to get into the car, he says, the three words to always remember, "don't loose nate". This might be a reference to how he lost natasha, after whom nathaniel is named.
Or it's a reference to him being a kid and wondering off and Clint trying to be a responsible dad?

I think the pizza dog is yelena’s. Im surprised no one has mentioned this but remember there mother was able to control the pigs and make them do things well if you notice in the first episode the dog happens to be at the exact moment and the right time. And when we first see the dog there is a honk as if calling to him. I think yelena is using that dog to get close to barton or whatever

Fun fact: The kid who plays Nate in this episode played the little kid Beau in A Quiet Place (the one who died at the beginning). Am I the only one who thought that Clint and the siblings losing Nate for a second was a reference to how he died in A Quiet Place? That, and the fact that he is using sign language to say almost the exact same phrase to Clint, as Lee did to Reagan in A Quiet Place.

The whole scene with Clint getting kidnapped and Kate fighting a bunch of the Tracksuits is similar to the events of issue 6 of the Hawkeye Matt fraction run which is actually a bunch of days leading up to Christmas like this series.
The apartment of Moira Brandon’s was the same apartment in “The Professional” starring Natalie Portman.
I'd kinda love to see them go with Jack being a trainer/superior officer for Clint in the military, prior to Clint's joining SHIELD.

One thing missed: right before the flashback shot of Clint getting shot at in Age of Ultron, there's a few frames of Loki and a bright light flashing. Perhaps from The Avengers, he shot something at Clint?

I believe this is a refenrence to Home Alone 2 when Kevin throws bricks at the two thugs and Marv gets hit in the face.

I know you pointed out the MCU canon characters (Katniss, Superman, Batman, and Scooby Doo), but I don't think most people remember Squidward was referenced all the way back in Infinity War.

I don't know. Imo, just watching the pilot and the 2nd episode, it feels kinda forced and it was a disappointing storyline. They're making Hawkeye "look more human". Marvel seems to be nerfing characters lately like Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, etc. The writing has changed since Stan Lee has passed and honestly Shang-Chi was a million times way better than these 2 episodes and probably better than the entire series if it continues like this.
