    Thank you so much - this was very, very helpful and cool, thank you for your invaluable work.
    I repeated all the steps along with the author, and here I have two big questions:
    1. WHY is it like this? no sound is recorded to the STEMS_ tracks except STEMS_Reverb. (Solved).
    When assigning Inputs in the mixer on auxes 65-70, the author chose these auxes themselves as input sources, i.e. shorted them to themselves.
    As a result, STEMS audio tracks did not record sound, even taking into account that these Auxes (65-69) are specified as outputs from instrumental groups (BUS1-6). That is, there was no sound recorded, unlike the author of the video. The only track that was recorded was STEMS_Reverb with the following routing (channel with reverb BUS33) -> (BUS70) -> Track STEMS_Reverb.
    When I chose group BUSes (1-6) as Inputs for AUXes (65-70) everything fell into place. And thinking about this topic led me to a next question:
    2. WHY do I need all these unnecessary AUXes?
    After all, on STEMS_audio tracks you can simply select the outputs from the groups (BUS 1-7) as Input.
    Maybe all these intricacies with routing depend on the version of Logic ? I have LPX10.7.9

    Secret trick about track icons and why I use them: if you hit command and double click on the track icon, it will open up the plugin. It keeps me from needing to keep the inspector column open. 🙏🏾

    Hi Zack hello from Ireland great tutorial, templates have been the bane of my existence and it gets way too complicated with routing I really like the export part where the REVERB is on a different track thank you, I use EWQL SPACES and recently purchased SPACES 2 asked about reverb send and and the said the following If you are going to use it as a bussed out plugin/as a send (tracks send to the reverb track). Then you would not use any dry (because the dry signal you already get on the base track
    the only reason you'd use Dry is if you put it on the instrument track itself

    Hey Zach, one question. What workflow would you apply if I wanted to print the reverb and effects directly to the main group stems and not as a separate track? I know one way would be to add those effect on the main busses, but that would require to add an instance on each one, so I could not share it between groups. I want to know if there is a workaround. Thank you :)

  • @HeliocentricOfficial

    Maybe you can help me out. The absolute biggest hurdle with my composing journey has been delay compensation. In most of my libraries, there are substantially different delay times for staccatos vs. legatos vs. martaccos, etc. I've seen some composers go to the lengths of making individual instrument inserts for EACH articulation of every instrument. That sounds maddenning. I love the simplicity of this template. How do you get around instrument delays?

    Awesome video. I’m noticing Logic has a downfall with trying to bounce stems in that if you have your reverb on a send there is no way to easily include the reverb on the audio file. It has to be separate as you demonstrated. Is the only workaround to solo the summing stack and the reverb and export (rather than bounce) and repeat as needed for the different stacks?

  • @mollirobinmarcussen609

    Hi! I am so happy I found this video. However, my project doesn't do the things yours do, even if I follow the instructions carefully. It seems I can't get any sound from any of the instruments, once I have made a send to the bus 33. I tried doing it all over without enabling the patch merging. And then I just removed the fx and sends manually. This also led to the instruments losing sound. What should I do? I can't continue with your tutorial, since there is no sounds :(

    Hi Zach, do you have another video about building a Logic Pro template using virtual instruments outside from Logic, like Kontakt? And if yes how do you do it? Chooisng Kontakt as the instrument and then choosing multi timbral 16 stereo? Thank you!

    • @ZachHeyde
      @ZachHeyde  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jim, people have different opinions about multi-timbral versus using one instance per track--I'm personally a fan of the latter, and make templates with Kontakt instruments the same way I did in this video (one instance per track). There's a slight increase in RAM usage doing it that way, but I've just found it easier when I need to edit instruments to click on the track itself instead of navigating to the multi-timbral output.

    can I ask when it comes to reverbs in the plugin the wet knob you have it at -10.0 is there a reason for that as I always thought reverbs on a send should be at 100 percent up on the wet stuff so you can bus it out to whatever and certain amounts.

    • @ZachHeyde
      @ZachHeyde  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, that's correct--the Space Designer one is slightly different looking than most standard reverbs, with a separate wet/dry signal. The dry signal here is set to 0, so effectively the wet is 100% with a slight volume dip :)

  • @seanmcdermott7256
    @seanmcdermott7256 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One annoying thing I can't figure out about Track Stacks is how do I edit individual instruments within a stack? I was trying to solo an Oboe and yet when I click on the solo button, it solos the rest of the winds in the stack, even after I flatten the stack. I'm obviously missing something.

    • @ZachHeyde
      @ZachHeyde  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, I'd open up your Key Commands and make sure you're using the right "solo" option--there's a few!
      Also if you're using a multi-output Kontakt instance, that may play a factor in your channel routing. I'm one instance per track, to avoid that issue.
