Embark on a journey through time as we explore the captivating transformation of the Manna Sanatorium, originally built in the late 1920s, into a modern-day sanctuary of hospitality, wellness, and retreat. Architects, inspired by the historic significance of the site, have breathed new life into its walls, preserving its heritage while projecting a contemporary vision.

The Manna Sanatorium, designed by Swiss architects in the 1920s, once served as a refuge for tuberculosis patients seeking healing in the idyllic woods. Abandoned due to medical advancements, the property fell prey to looting and repurposing. Now, architects have set out to redefine its purpose and rekindle the essence of hospitality and wellness that defined its initial years.
A Contemporary Prism: Reviving the Spirit of Manna
The architects approached the revival with a contemporary lens, respecting the original identity of the building while infusing it with a fresh perspective. Surgical interventions were carefully applied to showcase the monumental heritage, connecting deeply with the roots and purity of the site.
Architectural Features: Melding the Past with the Present
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into a cozy space, where local treats and a warm drink set the tone for a down-to-earth hospitality experience. The Lounge area features a Bar with apothecary-style joinery, paying homage to the property's healing past. The open Kitchen invites guests to participate in meal preparation, connecting with the communal spirit. The lower level houses wellness areas, seamlessly integrated into the terrain.
Interior Harmony: Thoughtful Design Elements
Each of the 32 rooms boasts a timber space grid reflected in terrazzo and marble floor patterns, organizing sub-areas for sleep, bathing, dressing, and more. Original elements, like iron doors, inspire the grid feature, creating a harmonious blend of heritage and modern design.
Material Palette Reinvented: A Subtle Elegance
The revival embraces a subtle reinvention of the material palette, maintaining and repurposing materials to create a timeless aesthetic. Natural finishes, vegan leathers, and locally sourced elements define the interiors, contributing to a sense of harmony and grace.
