hi there. i am enjoying your videos, i came across, i really love listening to you talk. i love the British/ Australian Accents! i am currently cutting fabric strips, i found some square packs at family dollar yesterday, i want to make mug rugs for camping folks!
New subscriber to your channel. Thank you!!! I am a fine artist living in Costa Rica, Central America. Your work is beautiful and tutorials are the inspiration I was looking for as I challenge myself to working in a new medium!!! FABULOUS!!!!
Hi Sky hope you're doing OK. I've just watched this weaving tutorial for Fabric Weaving and I love it. I think I'm going to have a look around my wardrobe see what i can find. As being in self isolation lockdown means i cant go out but as soon as i can i think I'll be doing the rounds of local charity shops. Thanks again for showing this tutorial. Hope you keep safe and well. Love Jen xxxx
I love a good OP shop forage! So glad you’ve got some Inspo and are raring go. This year has been interesting to say the least ... stay well and stay inspired. 🧡
I am SO excited to find you and your AMAZING channel!!! I’m super new to weaving and fiber work- I like to just jump in and do the damn thing- watching tutorials along the way as needed! Not very smart, but eh! It works more often than not! So far you’re the most educational and entertaining- thanks SO much!!! Your work is just amazing! Oh and if ya need strips of fabric- Chidi rugs- aka Rag Rugs- are GREAT! And ya get to tear em apart first- always fun!! And you never know *exactly* whatcha going to get!
I can feel your energy baby! ‘Do the damn thing’ is basically how I have operated my whole life…. Slap dash and hap hazard lol! Tbh it’s been a long time since I have uploaded anything as there have been some life changes…… I feel I am getting closer to sharing some more creative techniques here ….. Enjoy the existing content for now and fingers crossed I can upload something soon.
Hi sky x love this technique x it looks fabulous how you made the pieces of fabric look like flowers x keep weaving x keep smiling x and keep safe and well x xx
@@pasitheathanatosasmr488 The beauty of this craft is it can patiently wait until your ready to jump back in. Hope all went well with the new job. Keep weaving :)
Ann Newton Hi! Check out Learn to Weave Kit Tutorial camel and cream 38.25 ... this is the basic principle of how I finish my wall hangings regardless of size. Let me know if you have any questions 💜
Thank you so much for this video (and for your other ones; I'm new to weaving, so they've been a big help)! I'm partly through my "weaving with fabric" piece, and I have a question: are there particular fabrics that don't fray? Clearly the ones I have are not ideal, because there are threads on the piece, on me, on my couch, and floating in the air lol. xoxoxoxo
Ok, so this is a great question and makes me laugh at myself because my favourite look comes from the fabrics that fray! You would need to test each one as you go...Im no fabric expert so I cant give you a list. My preference is to use any pre-loved fabric that comes my way. The exceptions are any super shiny metallic fabrics. My suggestion is to sit on a sheet for easier clean up!
@@skycartercolour5736 A sheet is a VERY good suggestion--thank you! I have one more question--sorry to bother you. I finished my little weaving project and it's very cute. Unfortunately, when I removed it from the loom, I realized that it lacks structural integrity; it sags in the middle. I'm wondering if you have any idea of what I might have done wrong? Perhaps I tightened the knots too tightly? Used too many short pieces of fabric? If you have any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate it. Cheers!
meghan macqueen .... hmmmmm, I am wondering if you might have needed to push your work down more as you built the rows from the bottom up. Also possible your warp threads may have been too loose to begin with? I’m happy to do a further analysis if you want to email me or message through social media .... links above. And I am always happy to help 😍
@@skycartercolour5736 Thank you for being sweet. I did one the next day with looped rya, and that one worked fine, so the next time I do one with fabric, I am going to try to be very aware of pushing the fabric down. Thanks for your offer of help :)
Thank you for the feedback. This was a quick off the cuff recording not using a microphone and I agree that the sound is not great on this one. I will endeavor to do better! Happy chewing :)
Ur the only one who makes cool ones i want to learn.
Thank you Nicole! x

Love the idea of rya knots. Didn’t think of that and have been afraid the fabric will fall out. Your piece is beautiful. I am so inspired. Thank you❣️
